TORTURE....The Senate has voted 90-9 to oppose the torture and abuse of prisoners held by American forces. Good for them. Of course, the bill still has to go through the usual conference committee charade, in which Senate conferees "reluctantly" accept changes from the House designed to water down the bill, and then everyone who voted for the original Senate language "reluctantly" votes for the conference bill. Maybe that won't happen this time. We can hope. But even if it doesn't, the bill also has to survive a veto threat from George "Honor and Integrity" Bush. So we're not out of the woods yet.
