How can I find out whether aWol, Ashcroft, et al, have been spying on me?
"You're posting cat photos while Cheney turns the country into a fascist dictatorship!!"

This is plain and simple exploitation of cats. I'm not even joking. Your cats are unwittingly generating ad revenue, and I for one, will have none of it.
Posted by: LHB on December 16, 2005 at 6:48 PM | PERMALINK
I hate it when people say "I'm not even joking" when they obviously are. That just like those people who completely misuse "literally", as in "I literally died laughing at Dubya the other other day".
Posted by: Urple on December 16, 2005 at 6:55 PM | PERMALINK
Besides, how do you know it's unwitting? For all we know, they signed an informed consent form (or better yet, a contract giving them a percentage).

My cats are total whores.

I want to commend you Kevin (and your Guest Bloggers).
True to form, you all have seen fit not to congratutulate the people of Iraq on the overwhelming exercise in Democracy.
And you wonder why I think you're a moron?

My first post here was about the Iraqi elections. Sorry, who's the moron, exactly?
Posted by: Shakespeare's Sister on December 16, 2005 at 7:39 PM | PERMALINK
Shakespeare -- go look at the website and try to find your post. OOPS! it ain't there! I guess it really wasn't very important.
Posted by: Norman on December 16, 2005 at 7:54 PM | PERMALINK
I just clicked on the link I provided above and it took me directly to the post.

Shakespeare -- let's try this again (this is fun!)
Go look at the main site, www.washingtonmonthly.com, and find your post. (Hint -- it isn't there!).
And you wonder why I think you're all morons?
Posted by: Norman on December 16, 2005 at 8:18 PM | PERMALINK
Norman, that's because it's already fallen off the main page into archives. The main page only accommodates so many posts at a time.
Posted by: Shakespeare's Sister on December 16, 2005 at 8:20 PM | PERMALINK
Gee Shakespeare, ya think it rolled off the page?
And perhaps my point was well taken?
Posted by: Norman on December 16, 2005 at 8:27 PM | PERMALINK
Feel free to ignore Norman. He's a quasi-regular visitor who never has anything to say except you're all stupid!!!!. Must make him feel better than the usual, would you like fries with that?
Thanks for the pictures and links.

LOL, love the snowman!

Gee Shakespeare, ya think it rolled off the page?
Yes, because that's how blogs work. Older posts roll into archives.
And perhaps my point was well taken?
Your point was that no one had posted on the Iraqi elections. I had, which makes you wrong. That it's no longer on the main page doesn't mean anything except that it's more than 15 posts old.
Posted by: Shakespeare's Sister on December 16, 2005 at 9:14 PM | PERMALINK
Norman misspelled moron! He meant to spell it moran!
Posted by: R.L. on December 16, 2005 at 10:14 PM | PERMALINK
That was probably the stupidest series of Norman posts ever, and he/she/it has had some doozies.
I congratulate you, Norman.

Norman:
Forgetting that something might have scrolled off the main page is a mistake somebody might make once, but pushing the "so where's the post?" line AFTER she actually gave you the link kind of drops you into the nimrod zone. Good grief, the post drew almost 300 comments. Where were you?

Shakespeare, you really didn't get the joke (why am I not surprised? -- you reactionaries are nothing if not humourless). So, I'll explain it to you (this is such fun!)
My point was that Kevin saw fit not to publish a comment on the story of the year, Victory in Iraq! And what you did in your reply was demonstrate how widespread is the necessity you lefties feel to bury good news (put it BELOW THE FOLD).
Yes indeed, Shakespeare, you did what the New York Times did -- ran a snarky piece on the back pages about our success in Iraq and tried to fill page one with screaming headlines about something else you can try to blame on our President -- or them evil Republicans.
So now that I've called you on it -- please tell us (presumably again -- I've not read anything by you prior to this) why we must snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and immediately retreat from the battlefield. Tell us all how badly things are going for us in Iraq. Please, compare it to Viet Nam. This is such fun!

hey norm...
since you brought it up....
so what exactly is this "total victory" bush recently began talking about?

Thanks S'sS for posting this thread. It is a tradition even though it brings out the occasional Rat. They do crave attention; if we ignore them, they tend to slink back into their hovels.
Our six indoor Kitties would like to also say "Thank you and meows to all"

We seem to suggest Bush has sinister movtives for his act - torture, Iraq, the Patriot Act.
I think it more the case of a man completely unprepared and ignorant about American values and traditions who somehow got into our Presidency.
Unfortunately, that such a man could make it into our highest Office brings into question the political system itself, particularly the method of selecting our President.
It is a matter of highest urgency that we examine and make changes in our system. Bush has proven beyond any doubt there is a serious flaw.
Think about this: The next Presidential "mistake" could be far worse than Bush - perhaps terminally fatal to our nation.

Norman:
That thread was at the very top of the blog when Shaky posted it.
It got damn near 300 comments.
What gives, old bean? All that blue Rockefeller Republican blood evidence, as it is in so many pure bred dogs, of a genetic disaster area, or what?

Fun!
Good for the holidays.... they need to be politicized as much as everything else.
Oh My God, what have we become....
Posted by: AC on December 17, 2005 at 5:14 PM | PERMALINK
On a more serious note,
I really do think alot of this 'craizienss' is due the media and the internet and the instantness of information....
I think we all will learn, yes, i am an optimist.
Like the articles indicated, this is nothing new.
What is new is that millions now have access to the inforamtion quickly....
Pagan or not, the holidays are a good time. A time to regroup and reassess and figure out what is important. Italy has it's month off in the late summer, France does it throuout the year, who know what the other countries do....
The myth has been smashed, but hopefully the dream will live on.
Get over it and use it's good for what it was intended for.
And check yourselves.
