NOT SO HARD OUT HERE FOR A PIMP, AFTER ALL....This comes from Jason Zengerle, but I figure a picture is worth a thousand words, so here's the picture. That CNN headline pretty much tells you all you need to know about DeLay, doesn't it? Here's the cover charge:
Entry to the fundraiser costs $1,000, $2,500 and $5,000 for political action committees and $500, $1,000 and $2,100 for individuals, according to an event invitation.
I also like this picture because of the way the books in the background merge with DeLay's ear to make him look like a bitty little elf. Or is it a troll? I always get those mixed up.

Elves are supposed to be immortal beings of stunning beauty, grace, and generally good moral character.
Much more likely he's an orc, made from corrupted, tortured elves, in envy and mockery.

No, it's troll. Trolls live under bridges and eat the Three Billy Goats Gruff. Or try to.

Very nice delivery Kevin - bitty little elf!! That got a guffaw out of me. I noticed the same vulcan ear effect but like your characterization better.

You never saw that "Elf" movie with Will Ferill?
I watched it last night (seriously) - the offspring think it's the greatest thing ever. I've probably seen it a zillion times, more or less.
The Elf character is helpful and nice and likes people. I see no similarity to Tom DeLoony at all.
Oh, and it's Will Ferrell.

Al, man, you be pimpin' the truth. You know it's different. When Soros gives money it's an example of corrupted special interests, but when lobbyists shower Delay with cash it's just his constituency supporting a champion of the people, right? He

Al,
You recently observed that the announced drawdown of British tropps in Iraq is in fact an elaborate ruse to make liberals look foolish. I concur wholeheartedly.
Likewise, your logic was undeniable when you pointed out that the "big bang" is a very shaky, very liberal theory, much like "gravity" and the laws of thermodynamics.
Clearly, though, one cannot compare Tom Delay's upstanding donors to that un-Christian drug dealing Holocaust-dodger Soros. You must withdraw your latest comment immediately.

Holocaust-dodger
Now, there's something nobody thought to accuse anyone of - yet. "And I maintain that my opponent deliberately avoided being rounded up and killed in the Holocaust, as was his duty as a Jew/Gypsy/Homosexual/Atheist. Does he deny that he is still alive?"

As predicted yesterday, the Senate Intelligence Committee today confirmed its status as a rubber stamp for the White House. The Committee, led by staunch Bush ally Pat Roberts (R-KS), rejected vice-chairman Jay Rockefeller's call for an investigation of the President's illegal NSA domestic spying program.

AVENGINGANGEL: As predicted yesterday, the Senate Intelligence Committee today confirmed its status as a rubber stamp for the White House. The Committee, led by staunch Bush ally Pat Roberts (R-KS), rejected vice-chairman Jay Rockefeller's call for an investigation of the President's illegal NSA domestic spying program.
Yes, CNN had this story from Ed Henry, a Republican stooge who masquerades as a reporter. Henry said that the committee had reached a "breakthrough" in their "deal" with the Whitehouse. Apparently the committee gets to give their okay to Bush's impeachable offenses every so often, with a "full review" coming again in five years. Vice-chairman, Jay Rockefeller, isn't happy, calling it, in essence, bullshit. I'll say. Roberts making a deal with Bush is no different from Bush making a deal with himself. It'd be like me making a deal with my heart to eat a full-time diet of high cholesterol foods and once every five years I'd have a bowl of bran flakes. Come to think of it, that would be a "breakthrough" -- for a heart attack waiting to happen.
It sure has been a lot easier for Bush since he became a dictator, hasn't it?

TBROSZ: I would rather have lobbyists fund the politicians' campaigns than my dollars.
Hah! You're still trying to equate lobbyists with Soros, as if they are digging in their own pockets to pay off politicians. It's not
their money; it's straight from a very special corporate investment fund. And where do you suppose the corporations got it? Your dollars and mine and everyone's are paying those bribes to politicians in order to get them to vote for
corporate interests. Okay, maybe yours too, but never mine.

DeLay will win his primary race with ease. (And I predict he'll get reelected in November, as well.)
The interesting race will be Rodriguez v. Cuellar. The early voting is leaning Rodriguez's way -- but that shouldn't surprising since there was a large effort to get his vote out early. We'll see where things end up.
Posted by: Dicksknee on March 7, 2006 at 8:58 PM | PERMALINK
I take back what I wrote about the early vote -- not that it is wrong, but too few precinct have tallied their early vote. In fact, as of right now it's about 50-50 -- not a good thing for Rodriguez. But it is early -- only three precincts have tallied those early votes yet.

[[What party is the Pig Party?]]
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- A criminal justice professor at Grand Rapids Community College has resigned after showing a video in class of a man having sex with a pig, students and a faculty representative said.
A school administrator confirmed that Samuel Naves, 47, resigned Feb. 17, but would not comment on why he left.
However, students and a faculty leader said the resignation had to do with the video. They said Naves was teaching an introductory criminal justice class earlier this year when he was going through video files on his computer.
The video appeared on a projection screen and students begged Naves to show the 10-second footage, according to the accounts.
Faculty association president Fred vanHartesveldt said the incident occurred this year. He said Naves was known for a blunt teaching style.
"His pedagogy was to teach real life," vanHartesveldt told The Grand Rapids Press. "His classes were very earthy. Some students took to that very well, and some students didn't."
Naves, who had worked at the college since 1997, declined to comment to the newspaper. Information from: The Grand Rapids Press, http://www.mlive.com/grpress
