FUNDRAISING....Last year, in response to our annual online fundraising appeal, one reader wrote:
Think of it this way:

YOU could be subsidizing the Washington Monthly.
If you think there needs to be an independent, progressive alternative to the right-wing media, one that's more honest, fair, and fact-based, but that isn't imprisoned, as the mainstream media so often is, by the fear of being labeled biased for the simple act of calling it like it is; and if you think all of us at the Washington Monthly are doing this, then please help us out by making a donation. Aside from ABC, CNN, MSNBC, NBC, PBS, NPR, CBS (forging documents to make the president look bad!), the NY Times, the Washington Post, Time, Newsweek, the LA Times, and the Boston Herald, there's a shocking lack of amazingly liberal voices in the media.

Hawk,
Have you ever looked at the Boston Herald? Even by your "anyone to the left of Ghenghis Khan is a Trotskyite" standard, it don't quite cut it.

I wish the LA Times were liberal.

I followed the link. It involves.... an objective analysis of the probable outcome of the elections in November. Um, okay.
Pedantic: Hawk,
Have you ever looked at the Boston Herald? Even by your "anyone to the left of Ghenghis Khan is a Trotskyite" standard, it don't quite cut it.
I meant 'Globe', not 'Herald', sorry.

Wait, Kevin Drum are do you really think of yourself as progressive?

I meant 'Globe', not 'Herald', sorry.
He misread the fax from the RNC.

Have you got a call into George Soros? I don't think he'll be adding any funds to Air America anytime soon.

Kevin, take your nasty racism crack about Salladay DOWN!
It's caused more than enough damage for one day.
I would NOT have contributed if I had seen that crack first.

I don't believe in subsidies.
Everybody has to pay their own way.
Except for me.
I get to sponge off of Kevin's threads for free.

mhr wrote: "Anyone else ever notice how liberals react to the idea of intellectual and political diversity?"
Anyone else ever notice how mhr slavishly regurgitates scripted Republican Fascist Party talking points in every single comment he posts?
Anyone else ever notice that mhr is a weak-minded, ignorant, gullible dupe, incapable of independent thought, obediently thinking what he's told to think and saying what he's told to say, just like all his fellow mental slave brownshirts throughout history?

See the Salladay thread below, cleek. I'd say a clear majority thought it was. Intentionally nasty? No. Not from Kevin. But the effect was damaging, all the same.
