MAN BITES DOG....From the Toledo Blade: "Documents filed Monday in Seneca County Common Pleas Court show that John I. Rocko, aka Rocko the police dog, received a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice last year."
But that's not the best part. Turns out the police chief got a degree from the same school. Guess who got the better grades?

I'm sure Jocko the police cat would have outperformed both.

Any police monkies? Would they wear police blues, or business casual?

I'm wondering how the dog's degree impeaches the testimony of the officer...

It's probably a good thing this isn't about the police cat. We'd be spending years discussing another case of purrjury.
Does Libby have a cat? We know he worked for a ...,never mind.

I for one welcome our new canine overlords.

Which one gets to run for Seneca County Sheriff (on the GOP ticket, I'm guessing)?

Toledo and its environs is "Tommy Noe -- Coin Collector Country". I wouldn't be surprised if we also find out that Rocko is a registered Republican voter in Seneca County.

I just want to know what kind of college give degrees to dogs.
Posted by: Yancey Ward on March 2, 2007 at 4:09 PM | PERMALINK
Proof once again that many, many dogs are much, much smarter than their owners (present company excluded, natch).
And a cat would never do police work -- they ain't into takin' orders.

This just shows your liberal bias against law enforcement, Kevin.
Better stick to the Republican method, which is to call everyone Heroes and then cut their funding, degrade their work environment, and replace professioanl administrators with party hacks. Everyone knows that medals are cheaper than health benefits. Now, roll over!

Rocko received a BS and he still can't clean up his own crap.

Donald from Hawaii, Congratulations! You won first place in the race to see who could pointlessly demagogue Republicans based on local-cop idiocy!
Kenji, better luck demagoguing next time.

I just want to know what kind of college give degrees to dogs.
Well, last month while flipping channels, I happened on a documentary and learned that the 'University' of Georgia bestowed a PhD to a groundhog (or as they spell it in Athuns 'growndhawg.'
A PhD!!!!1!!!
I understand that this dog lives in Ohio, but I would venture to guess he was awarded a degree from either (a) UGa or (b) some other SEC school.

I always liked the 2nd "Benji" movie. (No, really.) I always wondered what kind of conversations the villain in that movie had later in jail.
"How did you get caught?"
"I'm an international thief and assassin, but I was outsmarted by a little brown dog. How about you?"

But whats the dog's GPA? What classes did he take? Even Bush has degrees. It proves nothing.

please, can we have a cat picture? (whimper)

I second the request for a cat picture. And the whimper.

Michael is correct. Degrees prove nothing. Lots and lots of Americans, like George W. Bush, are well schooled but poorly educated. Schools will provide you with schooling, but not necessarily an education.,
Being educated means being able to think for yourself, to think independently,to question, to know the limitations of your knowledge on any matter and what to do about it. All these things, not just one or two.

Ah, Kevin.
You're liberal democracy, at work. Surprised Kevin?
This is what you've worked so hard for. They should inscript it on your tombstone.

I suspect John I. Rocko`s grades were better than Mr. Decider-in-Chief`s
seriously

The article says the dog graduated from Concordia College and University, "an on-line degree-program in the Virgin Islands." The dog got an A+ in Structure and Process of the American Court System while the chief scored a B- in the same course.
Oh, the wonders of distance education!

"We'd be spending years discussing another case of purrjury."
I love it!
This story reminds me of a personal experience with my own dear departed dog, a lab/chow mix. To make a long story short, because of worry about the dog's temperament in relation to our young daughter (he had bitten both me and my husband), Grandma offered to pay for 8 weeks of personal obedience training. At the end of the course, Smokey got an 'A' and we got an 'F.' Both grades were well-deserved. PS: Neutering did wonders for the personality problems although he remained an 'independent thinker.'

Of course the dog got the better grade. What can you expect when the owner gets his sheepskin from a diploma mill & is so stupid he also gets one for the dog?
