FRIDAY CAT BLOGGING.... Over on the right is Inkblot in the garden, surrounded by plants and flowers and watching the birds fly by. Spring is in the air.

Below is a Domino octet. Now that she's discovered the upstairs she spends all her time there, and this is from last Sunday. She's having a grand time playing under the sheets as we make the bed with her in it. In the low light she's just a blur, but a very furry, artistic blur, don't you think?

Ahhh, cattitude.

So nice that you have resumed cat blogging.

If I don't get the bed made before Charlie jumps in my spot, I simply have to wait.

Funny that you blogged Domino in that environ. A couple of hours ago, I posted kitties for the devotees just in case the site crashed again, and I selected a shot of Charlie lazing on the bed!

Is that a bunny in the garden or a garden ornament? Inkblot doesn't have the right colour combo to do the camouflage thingie.

And, did you do anything special for the "under the sheets" photos? I think they turned out quite well.

The pics of Domino are awesome, especially as a series.

What is it about cats and sheets? I used to notice a "tumor" in the middle of my bed and find my cat in there!

I've just discovered the site in the last month or so, so I'm late in knowing the ages and provenence of these two marvelous creatures.

Please answer, are they related, how old are they, are they rescue cats, do they get along???

Not to blogwhore or anything, but I was very happy with this pic of a friend's cat, so I posted it.

My family's tuxedo cat can't wait for my brother to get out of bed each morning to claim it for his own and keep it warm all day.

We have a cat who hates to go under the covers, unless, ala Domino, you are making the bed - Then it becomes a game.

And Inkblot, thinking, "Do I go after the birds, the squirrels, or just settle for the Nepata.

Speaking of catnip, had to replenish a hanging basket of Nepata this morning - Had turned down an offer for a free transplant from a neighbor - However, yesterday a wandering kittie jumped up on the basket and had an eighteen course dinner.

My cats are 11 years old and they haven't tired of the making-the-bed game yet.

Posted by: Ryan on June 1, 2007 at 4:27 PM | PERMALINK

Michele: It's a concrete bunny. Still, you'd be surprised how effectively Inkblot blends into the garden. It's kind of eerie sometimes, especially since you'd think he'd stick out like a sore paw.

Phoebes: We got Inkblot as a kitten in 1998 from a nearby shelter. We got Domino a few months ago from the same shelter after our other cat, Jasmine, died. We don't even know for sure how old she is, but probably about four or five. She and Inkblot are unrelated.

Is it can be Caturday tiem now plees?

Posted by: anonymous on June 1, 2007 at 4:45 PM | PERMALINK

So glad that Domino has finally gotten used to his new family. Or vice versa.

Posted by: ninja3000 on June 1, 2007 at 4:46 PM | PERMALINK

Thanks for the info, Kevin. They're both darling.

I see that "while we make the bed" actually means "while my wife worked and I played with the camera".

Great pix and nice to see Domino has settled into the household.

Posted by: Emily on June 1, 2007 at 4:52 PM | PERMALINK

Emily: Quite correct. She was making the bed and yelled out to me, "Come up here and bring your camera!" So I did.

I'm going to steal your photo shoot idea. Very cute, and my cat loves playing under the sheets when I make the bed. (oddly enough, she won't do it at any other time).

At our house, we refer to the cats vs mysterious movement of sheets game "kitty in a blanket." And even the oldest at 18 yrs had yet to tire of it....

Do you do that Caturday site?? I love those pics, especially the Day After Caterday.

The Domino octet should be framed and hung just as you have them. They are Art, real MeowArt.

I haven't played Sheets since my Girlie-girl passed away. It just isn't the same making the bed any more (so I don't, ha ha).

Have a great week-end all, the Crazies can wait till Monday.

[insert cheesy smiley face here for all you faaaabulous cat peoples]

Domino only recently discovered the upstairs? What was keeping it a secret? Just her own shyness/reluctance to explore?

Posted by: Angela on June 1, 2007 at 6:44 PM | PERMALINK

The cats are as cute as ever. Love the under-the-sheets shot. Very artistic!

But Inkblot really needs to called Inkblob.

Posted by: cal on June 1, 2007 at 6:48 PM | PERMALINK

My cats are cuter. Oh, yours are nice, very nice. But my three, as measured on the Kricker-Richter Cuteness Agregator score 277! Top that!

Posted by: Mooser on June 1, 2007 at 6:54 PM | PERMALINK

Skip this, put Domino in a "you tube" video with music (may have to create your own music - but it ain't hard, get some kazoos and hum along to Domino's own style - whatever. maybe bongo drums, something.) - Do Inkblot too - A bright spring day in garden at the "drum" place.

Posted by: Me_again on June 1, 2007 at 8:26 PM | PERMALINK

To ninja3000: Domino is a female cat.

Posted by: Vincent on June 1, 2007 at 8:45 PM | PERMALINK

LOL, which is increasingly needed these days. Domino under the sheets reminded me of our latest addition who loves to jump, crowd, balance, bat, and wedge himself into, onto, upon, at, and inside of whatever I happen to be working with at the time. Consequently I am usually extremely aware of where he is.

Recently I suddenly realized that the relaxed atmosphere in the computer room was due to Leo's absence. Checking closets, pantries, laundry baskets laden with folded laundry, refrigerators, empty washers, dish- and clothes, and lazy-susan corner cabinets was fruitless.

The unnatural quiet persisted until very late and somewhat worried I went to bed. Rolling into unturned-back sheets produced a sleepy but extremely insulted squawk, a flurry of percale and that inimitable injured dignity exit stalk that only cats can do.

The stalk was rapidly replaced by an undignified scramble for the litter box and food dish since he had to have been made into that bed for 19-20 hours, and even though I had glanced at the bed he's small enough to remain unnoticed.

Never a dull moment.

Your cats are delightful.

Posted by: Mazurka on June 1, 2007 at 10:58 PM | PERMALINK

haha my late kitty used to love jumping under the sheets when I changed them too (I won't try to claim I made the bed, because I never do that). It seems to be something they all love to do.

Posted by: jbk on June 2, 2007 at 1:53 AM | PERMALINK

Inkblot looks like a yin-yang symbol in that pic.

Posted by: Michele on June 2, 2007 at 3:06 PM | PERMALINK

our cat loved to get in our bed and under the sheets when it was being made up.

and then being "scared" by my wife or i scratching the bed/sheets or otherwise pretending to "creep up" on the intensely alert, wrapped-in-sheets cat.

what's the human analogy? i don't know,

maybe eating hot peppers or pressing a sore spot 'till it hurts.

for lucifer the cat, though, i think it was more like practice at camp lejuene.

a cat never knows when next it might be jumped by a chipmunk?
