FOLLOW THE MONEY....So what's the deal with that shadowy organization that was funding the initiative to split California's electoral votes? Oddly enough, the money trail leads back to Missouri. Show Me Progress has more.

Drum: Oddly enough, the money trail leads back to Missouri.

And possibly to Giuliani's campaign. Interesting.

and the guy fronting is a pig -- figures he's a giuliani supporter:

Meanwhile, Hurth is lying low and refusing to answer his phone. All we know about him is that he bit that law student in the bar that night ten years ago, then high fived his friends. Hurth opined that he didn't mean to hurt her and that she should have considered it a compliment. After all, he had done the same thing to women at two fraternity parties at Vanderbilt and nobody sued.

Calling Blue Girl/Red State, a/k/a Global Citizen....

This is clearly illegal, and this asshole should go to jail.

I work in St Louis, but live in IL. I thank goodness EVERY DAY that I do not live in MO, increasingly a state filled with crazies, wingnutassholemorons, and outstate is a bunch of lunatics all of whom wish that plural marriage was legal, since then they could marry that hot chick who happens to be their daughter.

Over and over and over....paying for voter registration drives in AZ and other states where the collectors then dump any Democratic registrations before going to the registrar, the phone bank crap in New Hampshire, the swiftboating scandal, and now this.

Over and Over and Over, the GOP seems to have unlimited black market sources for large volumes of cash....mysterious donors suddenly willing and able to pony up big bucks to benefit the slimiest workings of the party.

Go back and look at the maneuverings of big bucks through the warrens of Jack Abramaoff and Grover Norquist....chunks of it kept disappearing and I'd betcha if a really thorough forensics audit were ever done, it would show a systematic mechanism for siphoning off chunks of this cash and parking it in black-ops accounts for schemes just like these.

Rove's greatest accomplishment....there's the math and there is MY math....and knowing the resources Rove has had to achieve HIS math would go a long way to explaining so many of the nasty schemes he has fomented and overseen.

Kinda funny how that guy Hurth's reputation is coming back to bite him in the ass.

Hey T.C.D. Yes, Show Me Progress is one of my projects. As in I was on the steering committee early, and when the launch fell apart, I was one of the two people who built the site and I'm a front-pager there. But enough about me...this is Hotflash's scoop. Maybe she has time to pop in...

Rimshot!

Seriously - he is the kind of patsy that makes everyone think we are all a bunch of inbred hicks and morons. Hurth is, but not all of us are.

Wonder if the IRS will ask him about probable discrepancies in his taxes?

Posted by: Blue Girl, Red State (aka G.C.) on September 28, 2007 at 2:06 PM | PERMALINK

Ah, Kevin.

Hey, BGGS, you still kicking around here? I thought I put your in your place months ago.

Gluttin' for punishment, no doubt.

Apparently Hurth recovered from the $25,000 setback to his finances, despite only working part time for the city of New Haven, MO for $100 an hour. And in only ten years. He not only recovered but got way ahead--$175,000 to be exact. Oh wait, I've got it backwards, don't I? That debt from the lawsuit must've forced him to play these dirty tricks for Republicans. I laughed out loud, franklyO, at your line about his reputation coming back to bite him in ass.

Posted by: hotflash on September 28, 2007 at 2:40 PM | PERMALINK

egbert, you have made me feel a lot of things, ranging from utter bewilderment to astounded outrage. But mostly I laugh so hard at your stunning displays of fuckwittery and grammar/spelling offenses and homonym abuses that I get a stitch in my side. So you magnificent little bastard, don't you never die.

homonym abuses

If ever an obscure insult called out to be explicatedd ...

Posted by: Jeffrey Davis on September 28, 2007 at 2:57 PM | PERMALINK

I meant to say, egbert, that you have never, ever, made me feel "punished." Amused sometimes, but punished...not on your life. In fact, I'm laughing so hard at the mere notion that tears are streaming.

Ugh. They took the Rams; haven't they done enough damage?

Posted by: Chocolate Thunder on September 28, 2007 at 3:08 PM | PERMALINK

The Electoral College originated in the Holy Roman Empire as a device by which the aristocracy chose an Empire. It was designed to thwart the principle for republics that the people would choose the Chief Magistrate. The Electoral College allows an elite to change the outcome of an election after the election is over. That action by the elite tramples on the liberty and freedom of the people to have a government with the consent of the governed.

egbert, everyone here (with the possible exception of al and norman the great) thinks you're an idiot. i don't think you can put your socks in their place in the morning.

Gary Michael Coutin said: "The Electoral College allows an elite to change the outcome of an election after the election is over." But when the Electoral College proved insufficient for that purpose, voting machines were invented.

Breaking news: the petition initiative drive is gasping for breath and will expire any minute. I'll be posting an update at Show Me Progress (http://blog.showmeprogress.com/frontPage.do).

I'm pretty sure most people here know what homonyms are, but the parody egbert actually abuses homophones much more often. Amusingly, too!

In the interests of full disclosure, Hurth should call his money laundry Missouri Republican Butt Biters for Freedom.

Posted by: tomeck on September 28, 2007 at 5:39 PM | PERMALINK

It used to be that folks who wanted to get really serious about something would talk about biting the bullet. Now, the GOP has switched to biting the butt, but my guess is that is just the final act of the Bush butt-licking they've learned to do so well.

GOP: we bite butts with more conviction (for money laundering).

Hotflash, that was a tremendous post over at Show Me Progress. Very well written and researched.

When all is over, I believe they'll find a trail straight back to Rudy's pals, or even a Blackwater connection. There's an interesting article in the current Harper's Magazine discussing the way that government contractors are funneling contract money back into all sorts of domestic political uses.

As an aside, when my wife says, "Bite Me!", it usually means she's really, really pissed off. I guess that's the beauty of our great country, where apparently in the Midwest, it's meant literally. That poor girl in the bar probably came from out-of-state and didn't know the local lingo.

Posted by: bigcat on September 28, 2007 at 8:18 PM | PERMALINK

Yeah, how much Iraq money (either Saddam's or gov. contractor money) will make it's way back into US campaigns?

I wonder if Kit Bond has any connection to the MO money sources. Is Bond connected to Giuliani in any way? Are they connected to the Mafia?

There was a law firm in MO which was involved in vote caging, so it makes plenty of sense there would be people there who'd work on the CA electoral votes scheme too. What was that law firm, LaPlage & Gage or something like that.
