What's with the continual digs at Atrios and Somerby lately?

And he could go WHEEEEEEEEEEEEE all the way.

Misread as "Stockholm." Thinking: "yeah, pretty grim there, I bet."

The LAT article brings up the hazard of homes being abandoned. Not only can you get squatters, but you will get the house strippers in there and it makes burglaries of adjacent occupied homes much more likely. Look for a booming business in private "neighborhood security" services.

Kevin, I think you can do better than this. For example an anti-Huckabee
viral video has gone up on the web. I suspect it will hit Huck really hard. You might want to check it out.

Shortstop: what digs? Atrios said the other day that he wanted to see one of these ghost towns, that's all.

Why would Atrios want to ride this bus? I thought he's a relatively well-to-do tech guy out there. Isn't that right?

Ignore my question, Kevin answered it.

Posted by: Everett on December 13, 2007 at 12:52 PM | PERMALINK

Okay, Kevin. I withdraw the dig accusation in this particular instance.

It's probably stupid but I don't think I could knowingly live in a repo'd house. I'd always wonder about the people who had lost it. Did they wind up on the street? Did it break up their marriage? Suicide?

Probably nothing so dramatic or tragic but not knowing would get at me. Bad karma.

Damn; now I have to start reading Atrios again just to understand half of Kevin's posts as of late.

Shortstop: I differ with Atrios now and again, but I'm just curious what you're talking about here. I don't recall any recent digs against either Atrios or Somerby lately. Bob obviously has his problems with me, but that's a whole different kettle of fish.

Kevin, a couple of recent comments come to mind, although I haven't searched comprehensively:

This was just pure snark.

This was a barely masqueraded barb. No one was suggesting you should emulate Atrios or Somerby, both of whom use styles many of us find somewhat annoying despite our regard for their observations. You were being criticized for your analysis, not your style.

I seem to have memories of a lot more where these came from. But it's possible, especially re Atrios, that I'm remembering these as more numerous than they were. If so, I apologize for overstating the case.

What's Atrios?
