JAG INTIMIDATION UPDATE....Charlie Savage reports that the Cheney/Addington/Haynes plan to ruin the career of any JAG lawyer with the temerity to disagree with them has been abandoned. "In light of the feedback that [Haynes] received, he thought that it was wiser to try a different approach," a Pentagon flack explained. I'll bet.

An attempt to politicize the JAG force? Does this administration not realize their puppets will be gone in 12 months and (presumably) a Democratic president will be doing the appointing of those political jobs?

Perhaps they believe the shit is going to hit the fan sooner, rather than later, in regards to the torture tapes.

It's a sad day for the republic, because we've reached the point where it's an immense relief to see the military stand up to the President and say, loudly and clearly, "No!"

Only two comments in six hours? Did someone accidentally unlplug the internet?

R. Johnston:
We are just glad the military still has the cajones to stand up to the pres. With all the political meddling and Christian proselytizing thats been going on I no longer take that for granted.

(oops thats what you are saying!)

Another ray of hope, this time from military lawyers who scrupulously insist on their right to say, "Sir! Back down, Sir!"

Kevin:

Isn't it time for you to MENTION Wexler's online petition to hold impeachment hearings for Cheney? There's been no mention in the MSM. Your blog isn't MSM, is it?

Why are you shocked? The number of people posting here has been plummeting for some time. When you take into account that a good percentage of even this anemic number of posters are multiple posts by the same people, it's even more striking. Tipping point soon?

I wonder is Senator Lindsey Graham has objected to this politicalization of the JAG corp or has he been his usual obedient hack self and stayed silent on this abuse of power by a Republican White House?

"Why are you shocked? The number of people posting here has been plummeting for some time."

Doubt it. Some of Kevin's posts just don't arouse folks. Like this one. What more's to say, really? And this is not a blog that people comment on just to blow off hot air, when they really don't have something to say. (Except some of the knee-jerk trolls, perhaps.)
