HATE WITHOUT BOUNDARIES....Damn. Rudy Giuliani is really pulling out all the stops in his campaign to be the most warmongerish of the warmongers. Don't any of these guys remember the relative subtlety of Ronald Reagan's bear in the woods?

Bears in the woods are so pre 9/11. Same with subtlety. I think Cheney wounded that.

Subtlety isn't exactly the Republican's forte these days.

Subtle?
"My fellow Americans. I'm pleased to announce that I've signed legislation outlawing the Soviet Union. We begin bombing in five minutes."

The next Giuliani ad will feature a mash-up of clips from Faces of Death, Part II, and the march-of-the-orcs scenes from the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Seeing as how the "wolves" commercial went over, I'm not surprised.

When I saw the ad I thought, "Isn't the standard line that the religion (i.e., Islam) has been perverted? How the fuck can a people be perverted? Is Rudy going to send Dateline NBC after the terrorists or something?"
Of course, I was a little drunk at the time. I figure the guy who worte this ad must have been also.

The only way he can top that commercial is to actually orchestrate an attack on America that he blames on al Qaeda. You know, Bernard Kerik knows this guy who knows some guy. Hummmm. I wonder.

Since Rudy! has as much a chance as my cat, Mittens, of being the nominee, perhaps he could salvage the commercial for Guiliani Partners, Inc.? It's bound to have as much effect.

If you got together one of those Frank Luntz post-debate groups of Republican voters and showed them Rudy’s new campaign ad while hooked up to heart-rate monitors I think their enthusiasm would be easily detectable. Nothing gets their endorphins flowing like a some good old honest to goodness HATE - It’s. why as a group, republicans are generally anti-drugs - who needs drugs when hating people “feels so good”.

There have been several articles written about the poor ticket sales for the many war movies out this year. Even though many of the films were anti-war, Americans are sick of the topic, and Giuliani has practically nothing else to run on.
Giulaini's warmongering serves a good purpose in the campaign though. As other candidates try to ignore Iraq and Afghanistan, Giuliani keeps reminding the electorate how much they want the US to stop being a military belligerent.

Although a Dem myself, I have always thought that the "bear in the woods" spot was perhaps the best / most effective political ad I have ever seen (I'm 47). I wonder if it's on YouTube somewhere...

Giuliani has been hamstrung by the fact that the more people get to know him, the less they like him. This isn't good in a politician. This isn't even like the intractable dislike some tighty-righties feel for HRC. This is a nasty man poisoning his own wake.

Tighty-righties! So fabulous. May I steal that?

It looks like this new Giuliani ad "borrowed" its concept from here:

( starting just after 2 minutes in, with: "This city is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions..." )
