A STAR IS BORN....Inkblot has asked me to pass along his thanks to everyone who viewed his debut performance on YouTube today, skyrocketing him to #6 in the "Pets and Animals" category. What's more, of the higher-ranked videos, one is about a chimp, two are about dogs, and two are about wild cats. So that makes "Inkblot's Evening Snack" the #1 ranked YouTube video in the prestigious housecat subcategory. Thanks, Mr. and Mrs. America!

That's Mr. and Mr. America to you, pal. Jeez, Kevin, it's 2008.

You HAVE to get out of LA;>

Inkblot displayed restraint, self-control in that video. Not a bad debut.

But how will he react to the snarkers? Can he maintain?

I'm addicted to Inkblot. Every time I swung by to see if there were any postings, I'd click on Inkblot again to cheer me up. Can't wait for Domino rolling around in the mud ;-)

Inkblot for President. He has demonstrated willingness to obey the hand that feeds him. Lobbyists and fat cat (no pun intended) donors around America love him. LOL.

Your sentence structure leaves me confused: Is the "housecat subcategory" prestigious? Or is "prestigious housecats" the subcategory?

Either way, I hope you are using irony.

May I have Inkblot's autograph -- I mean paw print?

Posted by: pol on February 9, 2008 at 7:32 PM | PERMALINK

I'm sure Washington Monthly is proud as well. ;-)

Kevin,
You should post a URL to your blog in the sidebar next to your video on the YouTube page -- you may have come up with a great way to drive new traffic to your blog!

Posted by: Frank on February 9, 2008 at 8:27 PM | PERMALINK

Yes! Good idea! Do it, Kevin! If you posted a new cat video every week or two and put links to the blog in the sidebar, you would definitely see an uptick in traffic. This is actually in ALL of our interest since you're promoting values we all share. And just think: Inkblot and Domino will be contributing more to the well being of the nation than most pets and many humans! :D

Plus, people who click the link to your blog will already be predisposed to like you because people bond around things like animals. Knowing you are a cat person will automatically make your ideas more appealing to other cat lovers... It's not a trump card, but it's a slight edge in your favor.

As a loyal Inkblot viewer in south-east London, I object to all the credit going to "Mr and Mrs America"

Posted by: Philip C London on February 9, 2008 at 9:21 PM | PERMALINK

Hey, this thought just occurred to me:

If you make a map of all the states that Clinton has won or is likely to win, they form a belt that crosses the country northeast to southwest: NH, MA, NY, NJ, PA?, WV?, KY?, TN, AR, OK, NM?, AZ, CA.

Demographically, it is dominated by: Yankees, Scots-Irish, and Latinos, in that order.

I call it The Clinton Belt.

Everything else, with the possible exception of OH, MI, and FL, looks like Obama territory.

Hey Kevin, how about Mr. and Ms.? I may not be Mrs. but you know I'm Inkblot's biggest fan.

Doesn’t it seem as if Inkblot is sort of being pimped out in some weird sort of way?

Posted by: David Pusster on February 9, 2008 at 10:00 PM | PERMALINK

I thought Marian's hand was the star of the show, actually.

*Doesn’t it seem as if Inkblot is sort of being pimped out in some weird sort of way?*

LOL!

Line of the night.

Yes, very "unseemly" indeed!

Posted by: talesoftwokitties on February 9, 2008 at 10:50 PM | PERMALINK

What kind of animal do you have masquerading as a cat, Kevin? Cats never thank people in large groups for ANYTHING.

Posted by: Bruce Moomaw on February 9, 2008 at 11:32 PM | PERMALINK

I'm proud to say I was the second person to rate him and I gave the little guy 5 stars.

I notice he goes for treats like he's a dog.

Kevin, you need to feed your cats more often (just kidding), and keep Marian away from the weed when your shooting video! Though chronic is a tonic.

Congrats to Inkblot!!

Didn't know there was a competition. With a little effort, we can cat-apult Domino to #1 next week!

Posted by: disparue on February 10, 2008 at 11:44 AM | PERMALINK

What's with Marian (I assume it's Marian)'s laugh?

What is she laughing at? BTW, I rated the video at 5 stars.

All the more reason why ...
