OZONE NO-NOS....That story about the Bush administration interfering with the statutory scientific mandate of the EPA is getting even juicier. Details here.

King George know more than scientists. He knows that oxygen is good for people and animals and that ozone is just triple oxygen. The scientists are just pushing their agenda to deny Americans three times the oxygen! Next they will want us to freeze in the dark.

Look, we make our own reality. Only wimps make decisions on such important matters on the basis of the advice of geeky fat men toiling away in obscurity. They may have Ph.D.s and other fancy symbols that signify that they know something, but it is we who have the power to decide. And use it we must or we would have failed in our duty.

The scientists just want to get rich by foisting their godless beliefs on the American people. Or something.

Who cares about Bush wrong doing anymore? Congress won't impeach and prosecutors won't indict.

Well, see, these people are reptilian and they want a nice hot humid planet cause they are cold blooded.
Thats why we have cars that burn oil, coal plants, a carbon producing scheme with human operated climate altering devices. Its a secret so obvious none can see it. David Icke told me so it must be true.

The arrogance of this prick is astounding. Impeach and imprison this bastard and let him see how smart he is carving notches in his prison cell wall, marking time. It would be a growth opportunity for this asshole.

The organs of the State, like the EPA, exist to serve the needs of the Party, and not the other way round. Come the Revolution, the State will wither away, but the Party is eternal. All correctly oriented cadres know this.

Once the big boys are safe the rest of us will get the Katrina treatment. Jefferson was right.

So what, nothing will happen to him because of it.
Of course, this jumped out at me: "As a consequence, administration lawyers hustled to craft new legal justifications for the weakened standard."
When the final word is written on the Bush Administration, it will be its lawyers who receive the most scorn. Bush and Cheney would not have been able to do a single thing if they didn't have these slimy creatures giving them phony justifications for their illegal acts.

Thank you Justice Scalia, Thomas and the rest of you lame brains.

The Conservative Deflator: "[Prison] would be a growth opportunity for this asshole [Bush]."
Well, it would provide him an opportunity to hang out with people who were morally superior to himself and the crowd he currently runs with. Maybe it would encourage him to raise his standards of behavior.

When asked about Clement's role, White House spokesman Tony Fratto said: "The White House sought legal advice from the Justice Department and made its decision based on that advice."
This was my favorite line in the article.
Legalistically is exactly how one should shepherd the environment, and legal advice from the Justice Department cronies is exactly the kind of legalism that is dropping this country into the GOP's lap.
That is why he doesn't get impeached or prosecuted, isn't it. Bush skirts the line between ethical and unethical, using a band of evil lawyers as his conscience's bodyguard.
Slimer than mycetozoa.

You know, if you listened to scientists, they'd have you making enormous costly changes like removing lead from gasoline, instead of pursuing effective efforts like the War on Drugs.

It's not all bad. If we raise the ozone high enough we'll stop getting mildew in our showers and our toilets will be sparkling.

I'll make the obvious pun (what else would I make?) that Bush's decision will not "help determine the nation's air quality for at least a decade," but will "help UNDERMINE the nation's air quality for at least a decade."
I continue to hope and pray (to whatever forces) that Bush will at least finally be impeached after the end of his presidency, and his entirely undeserved and unmerited pension and other freebies stripped from him.

Science is too important to leave to scientists. Politicians, journalists, and lawyers should have the final say about what they want they want the reality of science to be.

Let's catch our breath and not rush to judgment. There's not enough evidence to call it either way. After all, you surely wouldn't criticize a Presidential candidate for a pattern of race-baiting remarks. Why criticize a President for a pattern of duplicitous interference with units of government that it is not allowed to interfere in? Unless there is absolutely incontrovertible evidence, I for one refuse to believe anyone has done anything uncouth.

Doncha just love the administration and the auto industry working together...the auto industry spending millions of dollars in lobbying money instead of R&D...all to stall and delay....and all while the Toyotas and Hondas of the world take the lead in creating fuel efficient vehicles which are stealing market share and U.S. jobs and while global warming becomes more and more of a problem.
Gas now well over $3 a gallon and climbing. Market forces are going to drive things towards fuel efficiency, even if Detroit keeps trying to delay mandates from states like California...but they'll be ready with more SUVs and Hummers to answer the call.

So it sounds like
1. Bush broke law
2. Bush lawyers "reinterpret" law
3. Bush lawyers tell Bush he is in compliance with law
Brilliant!

What has to be the major news story of the day, or at least the most significant, and hardly any newspapers can be bothered to cover it. At Google News, you hardly see any coverage since the Post article was released, and it doesn't even rate a Google headline.
Gave Americans lung disease. Yawn. Subverted the Constitution. Yawn.
Instead let's all watch Norah O'Donnell be petulant when a Democrat doesn't just buckle under when she mouths White House talking points!
