SEAN HANNITY SETS FLIP-FLOP WORLD RECORD....Taking shots at Sean Hannity is sort of like winning a pub quiz against the town drunk: there's just not much sport in it. Still, he does outdo himself sometimes. Via ThinkProgress, here he is yesterday talking about President Bush's deal with North Korea:

HANNITY: The news today brings a clear foreign policy victory for the Bush administration. But will the press report it that way? Joining us now for analysis, former ambassador to the U.N. and a Fox News contributor, John Bolton. What do you think this means?

BOLTON: I think it's actually a clear victory for North Korea. They gain enormous political legitimacy....In return, we get precious little. I think this is North Korea demonstrating again that they can out-negotiate the U.S. without raising a sweat.

HANNITY: Boy I tell you they've done it time and time again, and I'm sorta perplexed, Mr. Ambassador, to understand why we keep going back to the well knowing that they haven't kept the agreements in the past. Whatever happened to Reagan's "trust but verify"?

That was the shortest lived foreign policy victory in history.

My, that was quick. Like my first attempt at sex with a girl.

Hannity is one of the dumbest people ever on TV. Just mentioning his name shortens everyone's lives.

Hannity gives hacks a bad name.

Oh, I disagree...

Hannity's so much of a bonehead, it takes him two hours to watch 60 Minutes.

Posted by: grape_crush on June 27, 2008 at 12:54 PM | PERMALINK

Yeah, but the idiot who finally let his state department and diplomats do their job to a successful conclusion was the same idiot who appointed this idiot to the UN.

Certainly seem to be lots of idiots with extraordinarily narrow -- not to say unrealistic -- measures of success at the highest level of this administration.

Then again, I'm sure that Hannity was overtired from his repeated attempts at putting M&M's in alphabetical order...

I heard that Sean Hannity sold his car for gas money...

Posted by: grape_crush on June 27, 2008 at 1:02 PM | PERMALINK

You would think that they would talk before hand. Or maybe they did and Hannity just wanted to leave that sound bite out there - "victory for Bush"

When the TV weatherman says that it's going to be chilly outside, Hannity stands out in his yard with a spoon, bowl, and crackers...

Who would you have a beer with? Hannity or Colmes? Or Jonah Lucianne?

What a country.

If you happen to be standing near Hannity's ginormous head, you can hear the ocean...

Wow! That one is like a well-scripted parody. Please save it forever. Too good.

What a hack. Randi Rhodes keeps repeating it: Rush Limbaugh is smart but sold out, Sean Hannity is just plain dumb.

Hey grape:

In Hannity's skull, nobody can hear you scream.

Posted by: thersites on June 27, 2008 at 1:26 PM | PERMALINK

Question: What do you see when you look Sean Hannity in the eye?

Answer: The back of his skull.

Posted by: Ron Byers on June 27, 2008 at 1:33 PM | PERMALINK

Hannity would give his right arm to be ambidextrous.

Hannity has a photogenic memory.

I heard that Sean Hannity sold his car for gas money...

Actually, I heard the jackass drives a GM hybrid for free and then brags about his environmental sensitivity, all the while urging us to "drill here, drill now" AND on the radio shilling for GM cars his millionaire ass would never sit in.

God, I hate Hannity.

Posted by: timb on June 27, 2008 at 1:42 PM | PERMALINK

The guy touted on his show that he has a hybrid: some big truck with 21 mpg.

I had to chuckle: 21 mpg?

Posted by: Boorring on June 27, 2008 at 2:07 PM | PERMALINK

How come Sean Hannity can't make ice? He forgot the recipe.

How do you sink Sean Hannity's Boat? Put it in water.

Did you hear about Sean Hannity's greatest invention? A solar powered flashlight.

Well that about exhausts my Polish joke supply. Too bad my Polish grandpa-in-law doesn't read this blog, he would make a killing on this post.

I've always had the most contempt for him out of all the outrageous conservative personalities that we're forced to endure. Coulter may have a vile personality, and Bill O'Reilly may be self-righteous and judgmental, for instance, but they are both smart. Hannity combines all of the worst qualities of the loathsome individuals on the right but lacks any intelligence, self-awareness, or knowledge. He's little more than a propaganda piece for whatever talking points the Republican leadership decides are important. I used to get very angry and frustrated when watching him, but then I just stopped. There are so many intelligent conservatives that I can read to expand my mind. Why would I waste my time with a mental midget like Hannity?

"victory for Bush" Posted by: George on June 27, 2008 at 1:04 PM

George nailed it. Hannity's vast audience listens in long enough for him to reassure them that Bush is still winning, whereupon they can continue their self-satisfied God-backed Republican lives unchallenged by the need for moral or intellectual investment...

This states local politics has a link straight to Talk Radio, that is how pivotal it is to keeping the masses "informed" and "enflamed".

Gee, how come Democrats don't have anywhere that we can come together....

Q: How did Hannity kill himself raking leaves?
A: He fell out of the tree.

Q: How did Hannity kill himself tap dancing?
A: He fell off the sink.

You heard of course that Hannity drowned when he tried to bury a friend at sea.

Not inconsistent at all. In the first paragraph he posted the question of how the press would describe the victory. In the second paragraph, in the role of a member of the radical-right press, he provided one possible spin, the Bolton/Cheney wing(nut) version.

Perhaps not what he intended. It is not clear how to reasonably complain about this victory except to note that it follows 5-6 years wasted on failed Cheney/Bolton anti-diplomacy.

Posted by: Bill Arnold on June 27, 2008 at 4:08 PM | PERMALINK

I agree that Sean Hannity isn't very smart. John Bolton, on the other hand, is smart and knowledgable about foreign policy. I sure hope he's wrong in this case.

Posted by: David on June 27, 2008 at 4:17 PM | PERMALINK

David,

What makes you think John Bolton is smart and knowledgeable?

Near as I can tell he is a failed diplomat with a bad attitude and a very undiplomatic manner. He is so disliked he was never confirmed ambassador to the UN. He was so disliked at the UN America's friends were happy to see him go.

I have never found him to be right on a single issue. His power to make an incorrect prediction seem to be uncanny. If he is afraid it might happen, you can bank that it won't.

Posted by: Ron Byers on June 27, 2008 at 5:29 PM | PERMALINK

Bolton's foreign policy doctrine is to use American military power to force any opponents to bend to the will of his lobbyists.

The South Korean beef trade agreement is instructive. Instead of US beef growers providing a product that the South Koreans want, US power is used to force them to take the beef the way the beef lobby wants to sell it.

Posted by: Brojo on June 27, 2008 at 6:19 PM | PERMALINK

Bolton is a complete putz. I recall his fairly recent stint on The Daily Show where he either lied serially to Stewart, or truly knows neither the Consitiution or American history.

He's an appalling, appalling creature who must be put in a box, with no holes, and stored in a closet somewhere.

Posted by: trollhattan on June 27, 2008 at 6:36 PM | PERMALINK

>But will the press report it that way?

Better question was, "But will nutty former ambassador to the U.N, John Bolton, report it that way?

Poor Hannity. Dumb as a log.

Posted by: James on June 28, 2008 at 1:43 AM | PERMALINK

I resent the comparison. Also, I can probably kick your ass in a pub quiz.
