McCAIN WALKS THE PLANK....First John McCain was against gay adoption, and he got hammered for it. So now he's for it — sort of. Turns out evangelicals aren't amused. Steve Benen has the details.

I wonder if families that include a mother who is a former drug addict should be allowed to adopt children?

Wait until next Tuesday, he'll be against it again. Then on Wednesday...

What's more fun than watching McCain try to balance on the fence between his crazy base and normal voters? It can't be done, but it surely is entertaining watching him try.

Something Republicans would NEVER dream of telling the Christian Right.
And going forward, some of you may decide that my (FISA) GAY ADOPTION position is a deal breaker. That's ok. But I think it is worth pointing out that our agreement on the vast majority of issues that matter outweighs the differences we may have.
Yeah, I wonder how that would go over with Christian Right?
If only we had a religious belief in our US Constitution, instead of this 4th Amendment, what!!! What the heck does that old law doctrine have to do with our personal social issues?
Call it the Church of Freedom, so it's to bad it has so few parishioners in this country today.

If Dick Cheney can support gay adoption why not McCain?
McCain sure isn't as good at triangulation as Clinton was. Maybe he should just start saying what he believes.

So why doesn't the MSM ask St. John the obvious question: "Why didn't you stay in your first marriage so your first batch of kids could have both Mom and Dad present? Was screwing around with the young, sexy, rich "cunt" (as you so fondly call her) better than the well being of your kids?"

What about families where the father has a history of abandoning his children and divorcing their mother.....?

ARE YOU MOCKING JOHN MCCAIN'S INTEGRITY AND, BY IMPLICATION, HIS MILITARY SERVICE?!?! MY GOD THE MAN WAS SHOT DOWN -- SHOT DOWN, I TELL YOU!

Children do better with two parents. But sometimes Mommy lets Daddy down by not keeping herself up and not driving too well in snow, and then those two parents have to do their parenting from different houses. It's nothing personal. Daddy just has certain needs and he didn't sign up for this.

Want to make some wingnut heads explode? Find a gay couple willing to adopt some snowflake babies. Danger! Does not compute!

Keep the personal information to a minimum there, Buffalo Gal. This is a political blog not a Agony Aunt column.

I had brains, beauty, brass and bison, Jeff, and she had beer. I never had a chance.

On the plus side, remember that it's always a sign that something good is happening in America when the fundagelicals are unhappy.
So thank you, John McCain!
