HAMDAN....Apologies for not having said anything about the Hamdan verdict, but Andrew Sullivan rounds up a couple of reactions here. His conclusion about the Bush administration's handling of the whole thing: "Could they have ballsed this up any more thoroughly?"

How about just attaching Hamden with heavy leg irons to Cheney, and calling it even?

I love the fact that after all the hyperventilating about what a serious terrorist this guy is (so that they could justify keeping him incarcerated for years without charging him with any crime), he could be released as early as this year.
Most of the original Guantanamo detainees already have been released, and very few have gotten into any trouble since then. The ones that haven't been released are mostly nationals of countries like Yemen that don't have good relationships with the United States. The British, Pakistani, etc. citizens have been sent home.
"The worst of the worst," they said. Lying fuckers.

The question should be: why do you keep reading such a mutton-headed wanker?

What a wise and well thought move by the jurors.
Excellent rebuke of the circumstance brought about by the lawless and incompetent regime.

If guilt by association is punishable, then Cheney's medical team should be locked up for abetting terrorism.

It is all really weird that Bushie wants his kangaroo court so bad when his only top suspect is a man who drove bin Laden in a car. And all this while Bush appeared to intentionally let Binny get away seeing as how bad he wanted Iraqi oil and couldn't wait a second longer.
I keep hopeing that God will come around and even the score for president and VP who was totally indifferent to 3000 dead Americans, the way Bush just wanted to have Richard Clarke lie and say Saddam was behind 9/11.

Imho, the Hamdan verdict--time served plus 6 mos-- represents the "professional" military sticking a shit-encrusted thumb in the eye of the "political" military.

They're not gonna release Hamdan.
He's still gonna be held as an "unlawful/enemy combatant," likely til he rots, cuz there's no place to which to repatriate him, except back to Osama...
