Never Say Never...
Politico:
"But Biden watchers also know that there is much to like and admire about the man. Biden is a fighter who is joining a campaign some Democrats believe should scrap a little more. He is a serious adult on the serious, adult issues of the day.
And no one will liken Joey Biden of Scranton, Pa., to Paris Hilton or Britney Spears."
Well, that might seem like a safe bet. But remember, we're talking about Republican political operatives here; and no one ever went broke betting on Republicans' ability to mount completely implausible attacks.
Right on cue, a "GOP adman and noted quipster":
"It's the Britney-Paris ticket."
Joe Biden. As Paris Hilton. You just can't make this stuff up.

Does that mean Biden has a sex tape on the interwebs?

I've seen Biden referred to as a "Statesman" more than once now. I'm trying to think of anybody in the current Republican crowd who even aspired to that description.

Bidens a disaster. This has got to be Gods gift to the GOP: Obama and Biden, birds of a lying, deceitful feather

I have to hand it to the right...they are expert at turning Dem's strengths into perceived liabilities (e.g. Kerry's military record, Obama's popularity and, now, Biden's wit).
It wouldn't hurt us for progressives to take a page from their playbook from time to time. We need to take McCain's perceived strength on national security and give him a proverbial pounding over his proverbial head with it. He's Goldwater on steroids.

I have a feeling, CJ, that that is exactly what Joe Biden has been brought onto the ticket to do. Republican dismissals of Obama as a foreign-policy/"national security" lightweight will have a lot less weight with Biden on the ticket - and Joe isn't shy about shooting back at his critics, either.
And considering that John McCain's "national security" platform seems to consist of little more than bellicose bluster about "war!", "war!" "war!" and more "war!", it shouldn't be a hard case to make.

Why is McCain so obsessed with Paris Hilton? Could it be he's planning to trade in his old skinny blonde airheaded heiress wife for another?

Oh man! Let him loose. Biden will turn those jokers inside out, call their mothers disease ridden prostitutes, and sound like a diplomat while doing so.

Our argument: We need responsible, wise leadership and stewardship. We need leaders who behave with integrity and act like adults. We need a government of the people, not of crooked corporate shills.
Their argument: Paris Hilton! Arugula! Effete leftists!
The fact that this race is even close just boggles the mind.

Fuck Joe Biden. He was principally responsible for the horrible Bankruptcy Reform Act. He is ENTIRELY too beholden to banking interests to be of interest to anyone but bankers.
This pretty much tears it for me. It's reruns of Mr. Smith Goes to Washington election night. I will sit this election out too. I refuse to hold my nose and vote for someone I can't stand. Besides, the broken Republic cannot possibly be repaired by the hopelessly corrupt political process that caused most of its woes.
If the election is held at all (I doubt it... stay tuned for economic collapse followed by panic, chaos, martial law and canceled elections... you know I never believed Cheney would voluntarily leave office after spending the last 8 years amassing dictatorial policies, but hey I can always be surprised...) then the result has already been preordained:
51/49 McSame
The phony polls you're hearing about are already prepping Boobus Americanus for another "close" republican win.

I received an invitation this spring to the McCain love-fest and B-B-Q and was eager to ride the tire swing but I accidentally went to the wrong mansion and missed the entire event. Now McCain has cut me off. What can I do to get him to love me again?

Regardless of who Obama picked, morons, fools, and idiots would criticize.
And so they have. The fools are out for sure.
But I like Joe. he's gonna kick McCain's skanky old butt right out of that set of Depends.

"It's the Britney-Paris ticket."
************************
Boy, McLame and Co. are just begging for Paris and Brittney to team up and make another ad mocking that tired, senile, fossilized, white geezer, aren't they?
Gee, what is it, Mr. Obama, that makes so many people the world over like you, admire you, and respect you? Repig answer: "I don't know, but I'm sure it must be a bad thing, because look at all the people who like Paris and Brittney, and boy, are they losers!" Talk about an asinine, vacuous, non-sequitur. Repigs give the American people NO credit for being able to think. What an insult they are to the intelligence of people everywhere.

Thank God Obama didn't pick Hillary. She had too much baggage and too much psychodrama.
This is the beginning of the end for John Airhead McCain and his pathetic Doubletalk Express. Obama will destroy McCain in the debates and expose him for the clueless war-monger he is.

Fool of a Tookish troll! Have you ever seen me in the same room as all God? No, of course not---because by your logic, I AM God! And it's been far too long since I've done any serious Philistine smiting.
These filthy little beast you call "Republicans" look just like Philistines. They act just like Philistines. They even smell just like Philistines---so I'm going to let Joe Biden do some good, old-fashioned Philistine-smiting.
By the way---I don't rapture Republicans. One Satan in the afterworld is more than enough to deal with, thank you very much....

The next next or so, or perhaps just the next two or three days, will show how desperate the Republicans really are. If they are already bringing out the comparisons to Paris Hilton and the fact that Biden said Obama was inexperienced during the primaries, I bet they have absolutely nothing else left. Considering the fact that our convention begins on Monday and he's likely to get a nice bounce, any negative effect that the attacks might have will be swamped.

no one ever went broke betting on Republicans' ability to mount completely implausible attacks.
And no one ever went broke betting that the corporate press/media would promote those attacks and treat them as if they were credible.
Expect those attacks to increase in frequency and hysteria in the next two weeks. With McCain coming close to losing both his POW teflon and 'regular guy' image in one week (a fact not mentioned much in the CP/M), with an attack ad that had all the heft of a snapped towel, his campaign is going to have to step up the smears or they will go down in the early rounds.

McCain's demographic (also Bill O'Reilly's demographic) -- the over 70 crowd -- doesn't even have a clue as to who the hell Britney or Paris are!

"Joe Biden. As Paris Hilton. You just can't make this stuff up."
Every time I think I've seen it all, the Republicans prove me wrong. Sometimes I wish my life was a movie. Reality is just too strange. But I guess I just have to turn pro. Hunter would, after all.

Joe Biden, unlike McCain, really is knowledeable about foreign affairs. John McCain, "a Republican presidential candidate who, despite the hype, doesn't seem to know much as much about foreign affairs as they want us to believe! McCain recently talked at length about problems on the "Iraq/Pakistan border" – the countries are a thousand miles apart. Asked how to deal with Darfur, he mused about "bringing pressure on the government of Somalia". Uh – it's Sudan, Senator McCain. And he keeps expressing his desire to build up US relations with Czechoslovakia, a country that hasn't existed for 15 years. "
We need to debunk this notion that John McCain is so knowledegeable about foreign affairs, because it is another lie they want us to swallow.

Don't the Repubs remember Britney's late night TV appearance (was it on Letterman?) where she professed her great admiration for George Bush? Plus, Paris Hilton's family gave money to the McCain campaign - why not just point out the FACTS to the Repubs?

sounds very republican...huh...
meanwhile...
...hilton's parents are mccain contributors...
what did they think of the paris ads?
"It is a complete waste of the country's time and attention at the very moment when millions of people are losing their homes and their jobs."
"It is a complete waste of the money John McCain's contributors have donated to his campaign."

I have a Youtube video that shows how McCain and Britney Spears are more alike than different in how they both unthinkingly supported the policies of George W. Bush:
