Just ponder for a moment how cleverly Enron and their fellow deregulators suckered both parties into drinking the kool-aid. I'm with Hilzoy on the "let's defer to experts", but I'm not sanguine that they'll get it right. The people asking for the bailout aren't friends of Main St.

The bailout (or failout) will only handle the first shocks, if that, probably. If the housing market/housing prices suffer a market correction, the next couple of waves will probably be the impact on people/groups that used equity as the basis for loans/credit, as their credit gets re-evaluated, and then the next will be hits to property tax income for the government programs that depend on that.

The problem is that this is the previous bill. The restrictions are all toothless. This bill is a total giveaway, designed to loot the Treasury before leaving office. It is a horrible bill.

We don't get any fucking equity unless a deal -- not by company, by *deal -- is over 100 million. So no deal will be over 100M, since the people making them are not morons. Same for the supposed restrictions to corporate pay -- no limit to pay, and existing golden parachutes stay in place. They bragged about how they were planning on giving most of it to healthy companies -- in other words, Goldman Sachs. Etc, etc.

Michael Phelps, the Beijing Olympics, the
U.S./Georgian proxy Invasion of South Ossetia,
and Prospects For a Socialist Revolution In the United States!
September 28, 2008 Update

Phelps did not win the Olympic Butterfly 100 meter final. Milorad Cavic of Serbia won the event and after the race stated that he had won the event. Cavic had already soundly beaten Phelps in the Semifinals of that event! After the race Phelps also stated that he thought he had lost. And even Phelp’s mother first acted as though she thought Phelps had lost! She appeared totally dumbfounded but accepted it! Cavic’s coach said that he would launch a protest. Serbia also “launched a protest.� Then later both the Serbian government (a U.S. proxy/puppet regime installed after the U.S./NATO-led dismemberment/ethnic cleansing of the sovereign country of Yugoslavia, where under Tito everybody lived together in peace) and Cavic and his coach both withdrew their complaints. U.S. Puppet/Proxy Serbia was clearly under extreme pressure from the United States. Serbia in turn put extreme pressure on Cavic and his coach who withdrew their complaint. The United States wanted their “Golden Boy� (Bloomberg TV, August 18, 2008), and refused to permit the reality of the loss to Cavic to spoil the headline heralding Phelps: “A PERFECT FINISH, AN UNMATCHED RECORD.� New York Times (August 17, 2008) The U.S. intends to use Phelps as part of the capitalists’ fraudulent propaganda campaign that Phelps supposedly represents “victorious capitalism� while the capitalists are in fact losing all over the world as the world enters the beginning of another Great Depression!

The FINA executive Director, Cornel Marculescu, first stated that FINA would not permit the release of the footage by Omega the official timekeeper for the Beijing Games of the finish under the phony hard-sell pretext: “We are not going to distribute the footage. We are not doing THESE KINDS OF THINGS. (!) EVERYTHING IS GOOD. (!?) What are you going to do with the footage? See what the Serbians already saw? It is clarified for us beyond any doubt. He’s the winner in any way. (?) He’s the winner no doubt. Even if you could see the pictures, I don’t know how you could use them.� And Cavic the actual winner stated: “If you ask me, it should be accepted and we should move on. I’ve accepted defeat, and there’s nothing wrong with losing to the greatest swimmer there has ever been.� (!?) (New York Times, August 17, 2008) Parentheses added. The answer to this sort of tripe is simply: “What are you afraid of? What do you have to hide from an actual frame-by-frame analysis? Except the victory of Cavic over Phelps! You sound like a liar caught in a clumsy cover-up! You don’t make decisions for me Big Brother!�

Under public Pressure FINA later was forced to release what they said were digital frame-by-frame footage of the finish which they claimed showed that Phelps had won but actually DID NOT show that Phelps had won (New York Times, August 24, 2008). The images show conclusively that Cavic touched the wall fist without a doubt! But according to Dale Neuberger, Vice President of FINA the system that determines who wins the race actually measures “the instant of depression, of activation of the touch pad, not contact with the pad.� Careful observation reveals that Cavic touched the wall first and that his elbows were slightly bent indicating that he had depressed the touch pad with sufficient pressure (only 1.5 kilograms of pressure per square centimeter, according to Neuberger) to stop the clock.

The event was apparently also not actually shown LIVE. There was on a time delay despite the LIVE claim on the TV screen. Within seconds of the finish which showed Phelps in the water after the race he was suddenly being interviewed on the tarmac! Not credible! It is very easy to rig such an event if the race is that close. The U.S. knew that it might be close because of the fact that Cavic had already beaten Phelps in the Semifinals and they could not let anything alter their propaganda use of Phelps in order to try to improve the depraved image of the U.S. The reality, of course is that the United States is the most hated and despised country in the world. The majority of the world’s citizens recognize that the United States, which reflects the naked dynamic of capitalism, as the source of all war as well as all economic disparity. A software program can be easily written to cover all eventualities in such a situation where the finish of the 100-meter Fly was expected to be very close. The U.S. government can and does routinely hack computers of their adversaries and send computer viruses which completely destroy their adversaries’ hard drives and the entire computer, for example, and more (e.g. monitors by overloading them and simultaneously corrupting multiple Debit Card accounts with Dell Computer and Paypal, for example), as this writer and his roommate have experienced firsthand. The bottom line for this particular computer program, which undoubtedly gave Phelps his false “victory� was that unless Cavic won by a clearly visible margin he would “lose� in a very close race, even if he actually won! And that is exactly what happened!! The 2 electronic touch pads on the walls of the pool can be reversed in their polarity in a digital twinkling, so that even if Cavic touched the wall first it would simply register as Phelps touching the wall. Because if you look closely in that part of the replay which was permitted directly after the race and the images which were later release and printed in the New York Times (see above) it is quite clear that is what happened. Phelps lost! And he and the majority of viewers, including his own mother, knew that he lost! But he was very happy to accept the false victory! It should be recalled that with the Zapruder film of the JFK Assassination the “commentator� Dan Rather lied about what it showed, falsely stating that Kennedy’s head flew backwards due to totally fabricated so-called “jet effect� violating all laws of physics in response to a supposed bullet fired from behind him, when in fact JFK was hit only by 2 shots both fired from the front. One went through his tie knot and the other was the Dum-Dum bullet that hit him in the right forehead and killed him instantly. (Writer is the number one authority on JFK assassination who gave the keynote talk on JFK at Ethical Culture Society on November 12, 1975, twelfth anniversary of JFK Assassination, but who is not permitted to speak on anti-Communist WBAI radio on any topic!)

Both Serbia and the Peoples’ Republic of China (PRC) went along with the fraudulent Phelps’ “victory� in the 100-meter Fly because of political pressure from the United States. China was indubitably blackmailed and threatened that unless they went along with the crime the U.S. would push the age issue with the clearly underage Chinese girl gymnasts and take away their Olympic Team gold medal. Humiliation the Chinese did not want to accept! This is also the reason that the PRC went along with the U.S. all around victory in girls’ gymnastics which was accomplished by U.S. puppet judges grossly inflating the level of difficulty and execution by the U.S. and doing the reverse and chiseling big-time the level of difficulty and the execution of the vastly superior Chinese girl gymnasts. Shawn Johnson for example, was permitted to usurp second place in the all-around title after putting in very simple routines in the uneven bars and balance beam even though she won the event on an individual basis later. Even in the floor exercise Johnson’s level of difficulty and execution were pumped up like a balloon while the Chinese gymnasts routines were falsely downgraded. This modus operandi occurred over and over!

Although it made a pro forma protest against the U.S.-instigated “independence� of Kosovo, the Serbian government is a U.S. puppet/virtual proxy state which was installed after the U.S. division of Yugoslavia, a country where under Marshall Tito everyone got along. Serbia is a U.S. puppet just like the government of Georgia, which was incidentally authorized and directed by the U.S. to invade South Ossetia and now falsely denies it. In July 2008 Kindasleezy Rice standing beside Saakashvilli in Tbilisi, offered encouragement to Saakashvilli similar to that given to the later-sacrificed Saddam Hussein on July 25, 1990 by U.S. Ambassador to Iraq, April Glaspie, to invade Kuwait.

Glaspie suckered Saddam Hussein by giving him the green light to invade Kuwait by telling him: “We have no opinion on Arab-Arab conflicts like your border disagreement with Kuwait.� (New York Times, 9/23/90)). In 1989-1990 the United States carried out a carefully planned provocation, which Saddam fell for hook line and sinker. The U.S apparently guaranteeing Kuwait its protection, instructed Kuwait to drill long slanted wells under the Iraq-Kuwait border where the Rumaila Iraqi oil field juts somewhat into Kuwait, thus stealing Iraqi oil and also draining off the natural gas pressure which had forced the oil naturally and easily up to the surface. Then to drive the provocation home, Kuwait, fully authorized by the U.S. and believing that it had protection from the United States, began overproducing and selling their stolen Iraqi oil at far below the OPEC price thus also waging direct economic war against Iraq and the rest of OPEC! (Iraq’s oil revenues at that time dropped $1 billion for every drop of a dollar in the price of crude oil.) Even after the 1990 July 12th OPEC meeting both Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates refused to abide by the OPEC agreement, which allowed them to sell slightly below the OPEC price and continued to sell crude oil far below the agreed price! Iraq was thus provoked and then over-provoked into invading ALL of Kuwait, which they would have to do in order to overthrow the Kuwaiti government, which was merely carrying out U.S. orders for provoking Iraq. Invading all of Kuwait was necessary in order to create the uproar required to justify the huge long-planned U.S. invasion. In response to this deliberate provocation on July 24, 1990 Iraq first moved 2 armored divisions to the Kuwait border. Later that same day, Margaret Tutwiler, when asked whether the U.S. had any plans to defend Kuwait demurely replied: “We do not have any defense treaties with Kuwait, and there are no special defense or security commitments to Kuwait.� On July 25, 1990, the next day, Saddam Hussein summoned U.S. Ambassador to Iraq April Glaspie to his office. According the Wall Street Journal, February 19, 1999, April Glaspie did everything possible to suck Saddam Hussein into the trap telling him that Bush I (H.W. Bush) had rejected trade sanctions against Iraq (!) or any other reprisal (right!) if he were to invade Kuwait and reassured Hussein by telling him: “I have direct instructions from the president to seek better relations with Iraq.�

The U.S. directed Saakashvilli to invade the independent area of South Ossetia while the world was being distracted by the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. (Rice incidentally also brazenly blurted out at a dinner in Spring 2004 in Washington, D.C. that she was the mistress of the usurper Bush calling him “my husband� before correcting herself to “the president�!)

In addition, the U.S. and the U.S. proxy state, so-called “Israel� have supplied virtually all of Georgia’s military hardware and the U.S. has admitted to having trained the Georgian military. The U.S. also admitted that it had over 2000 military “advisors� and “trainees� in Georgia at the time of the invasion of South Ossetia! Russia Today TV initially reported that “American mercenaries� (all U.S. military personnel today are “volunteers� a 1984 Orwellian euphemism for mercenaries) accompanied the invading force into South Ossetia and that some may have been killed. The Russians found a U.S. Passport of Michael Lee White in Tskhinvali documenting U.S. involvement. These reports were re-confirmed August 29, 2008 on Russia Today TV.

The U.S./Georgian Invasion of South Ossetia was carried out with the primary objective of trying to create ethnic division in a U.S. attempt to discredit, weaken and divide discredit Russia just like they did with Yugoslavia in the 1990’s. The U.S.-led capitalist media, which is a privatized arm of the U.S. government’s so-called “intelligence community� and the United Nations were prepared in advance to focus only on Russia’s response 1 ½ days later after the U.S./Georgian invasion of South Ossetia by driving U.S./Georgian forces out of South Ossetia and following their retreat into Georgia in order to destroy much of Georgia’s U.S. supplied military. Saakhashvilli’s local credibility was sacrificed in the short term for the United States long-range objective of trying to eventually overthrow the Russian government, install a puppet government in the former CCCP as in the Ukraine, Georgia and the former Baltic Soviet Republics, and steal Russia’s unbelievable wealth of natural resources just like the U.S. is doing in Iraq. On September 28, 2008 on Russia Today TV In Context with Peter Lavelle, Alexandr Chachiya apparently a legitimate Georgian opposition figure, stated that Saakashvilli was not acting in the best interests of Georgia but of the U.S. and would probably be replaced by Nino Burjanadze, the Chairwoman of the Georgian Parliament, who along with all “opposition� parties in Georgia was also controlled by the United States, and that because of that fact Georgian policies toward Russia would not change. He also confirmed what this writer said soon after the Georgian Invasion/Provocation in South Ossetia, namely that the United States wanted to create chaos in the Caucuses for reasons already previously provided in this analysis.

The situation surrounding Russia today looks dangerously similar to the beginning of a replay of 1940 with the NAZIS on the border of the USSR preparing to invade. In fact Senator Prescott Bush, the father of George Herbert Walker Bush (Bush I) and George Herbert Walker both fanatical anti-Communists, funded the NAZIs before WWII. The grandson of Prescott Bush is the current “Usurper� in the White House. Barack Obama has stated that he intends to continue the same policies of encirclement of the former USSR just like the NAZIs did in 1940! Biden forcefully echoes this anti-Russian plan. And McCain/Palin are even more rabid-sounding Fascists.

The claim by Putin that the U.S./Georgian invasion of South Ossetia was a “provocation� to help McCain win the White House is indubitably false! That explanation is a simultaneous cover-up invented to minimize the actual objectives (see below) and a diplomatic gambit by Russia to allow the U.S. to cool it and to re-evaluate. The reality is that the permanent government of the U.S. capitalist dictatorship wants to go with a Democratic administration for 2008 for several reasons. The capitalists want to tighten and harden the capitalist dictatorship domestically and to try to gain support for their so-called “War on Terror by supposedly gaining the support of a democratic constituency. The truth is that Obama will be a “Black� Bush. The reason that Obama did not want Hillary Clinton as his vice-presidential nominee was because in that case it was very likely that the Democrats would win by as much as 30 to 40 points or more. In the event of such a lopsided victory the democratic constituency would be inclined to expect some sort of a “leftward shift� in U.S. foreign and domestic political policy, which is not at all in the cards as a review of Obama’s actual economic-political-social statements and positions in print fully document. The U.S. capitalist dictatorship always wants to try to keep the presidential “elections� close to try to build interest in the sham “election� and “credibility� in a contrived and manipulated “close nail biter/cliff hanger election� to create the false belief that every second person supports the government policies. The reality is that only around 20% of Americans support the Bush regime!

The only way the capitalists could have a close election in such circumstances would be for Obama to move significantly to the right, which he has done. Sarah Palin who initially was portrayed as very popular was quickly portrayed as inexperienced and very dangerous lest she gain too much popularity which might interfere with the planned Obama “victory� in waht is another sham “election� used to perpetuate the capitalist dictatorship. The reality is that 95% of New Yorkers and presumably the majority of Americans agree that we need a new system based on human need not private profit! In addition, the capitalists do not want to marginalize or alienate the Fascist and proto-Fascist elements in the United States, which they need in order to support the fundamental war-based, mass murder-based and crime-based U.S. policies. The capitalists also plan to try to divert the people who are fooled into voting for Obama to join a “volunteer community service,� a form of slavery being hyped by the capitalist media and both “candidates,� which along with “faith-based initiatives� are going to try to substitute for government social programs. “Community service� is a sentence dealt out to non-violent first-time offenders in the U.S. legal system. Obama has such total contempt for the intelligence of the masses that he thinks he can turn a court sentence into a means to pump up U.S. patriotism and support U.S. policies similar to the Hitler Jungend (Hitler Youth). Through slogans like “shared sacrifice� Obama has been chosen to try to abolish the function of Social Security (keeping older people alive), and to try to whip the masses in line to support U.S. policies such as “the right war in Afghanistan� (!) and the “War on Terror.� which is simply the pretext used by the capitalists to maintain capitalism in its final stage of Permanent War and State Terrorism.

The invasion of South Ossetia was thus a deliberate provocation which Russia had no choice but to respond to and was carried out to achieve several objectives, the first of which is described above but that invasion also has disturbing parallels to the Full Court Press. Star Wars (SDI)/Nuclear Arms Race that the Reagan Regime put on the USSR in the 1980’s which ultimately forced the surrender by Mikhail Gorbachev to the threat of a nuclear war. The purpose of that 1980’s Nuclear Arms Race to force a Soviet surrender was openly acknowledged by the Fascist John McCain in the first presidential debate on September 26, 2008. The capitalist media focus on the Russian response to the invasion of South Ossetia, rather than the U.S./Georgian Invasion of South Ossetia, has been used to build public support in Poland for the so-called U.S. “Missile Defense� to be placed in Poland and later the radar to be built in the U.S.-puppet Czech Republic where an agreement has already been signed with no public referendum permitted. Public support in Poland on the other hand, which opposed the U.S. “missile defense� prior to the Russian response in South Ossetia, now supposedly supports it! Beginning in January 1984 and with full deployment completed in 1985 the U.S. was able to place Pershing Nuclear First Strike Nuclear Missiles in Germany 10 minutes from Moscow, but only after carrying out the 1983 Korean Airliner Provocation in order to discredit the European Communist-led opposition to the placement of Pershing II missiles in Germany. Placement of Pershing II First Strike Missiles in Germany caused the surrender by Gorbachev in 1988 to the threat of an imminent nuclear war, the inexorable outcome of a nuclear arms race. (There was no Soviet “economic collapse� as testified by the CIA on U.S. network TV news in 1990, which stated that they had no data whatsoever or any indications of an incipient “economic collapse in the USSR.� This was because there was no economic collapse, but rather a Soviet surrender to the threat of a nuclear war followed by a long and painful dismantlement of the Soviet Workers’ State during the 1990’s leaving the Stalinist (not Communist!) leadership structure in place.)

In that provocation an altitude bomb (described by the Soviet pilot Gennadi Osipovich as “a large secondary explosion which destroyed the aircraft as it descended�) was placed in the Korean 747 airliner to insure that even if the USSR did not shoot it down, which it did, the U.S. could claim the plane was shot down. That plane was going down period!! The Korean pilot was directed to fly straight into the Soviet Union over the Kamchatka peninsula and was personally assured by the disgraced murderer Richard Nixon who was at the airport in Anchorage, Alaska before it took off, that the Soviets would not shoot down the plane because they would not risk the bad publicity which would damage international relations! The official story was that Nixon “almost took the flight!� So disingenuous!

Gorbachev’s Soviet Surrender Was Based on
Lenin’s Strategy of the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk!

In carrying out his surrender Gorbachev was following the Strategy of Brest Litovsk, where Lenin was forced to sign an ignominious peace agreement with the German Kaiser in order to gain time with the understanding that all the Russian land that the early Soviets were forced to give up would be later regained. That was the case. Gorbachev was completely correct in believing that the inexorable outcome of a nuclear arms race was nuclear war. Gorbachev also knew and calculated that by the Soviet Union leaving the field the dynamic of capitalism would exist unchecked thus exacerbating and accelerating the contradictions of capitalism-imperialism thus hopefully making these contradictions stand out in bold relief and bringing it closer to the final scrap heap of human history. The dynamic of capitalism has indeed been accelerated in spades! The Fascists are once again on the Russian doorstep. Gorbachev wanted to try to permanently eliminate the nuclear threat. And he did so—for a time! And he wanted to integrate the former USSR into the world capitalist economy making it much less likely to be a nuclear target of world capitalism. And he did so up to Bush’s abandoning the ABM Treaty in the U.S. preparation to continue its so-called “missile defense� which is nothing more than an attempt to force a second Russian Surrender. See below. But the 1988 Soviet Surrender to the Threat of a Nuclear War also created many more contradictions.

Today, Russia in typical Stalinist opportunist fashion has now agreed to the fraudulent U.S. claim of “economic collapse of the USSR� in order to try to guarantee peace with U.S.-led world imperialism now that the Soviet Workers’ State has largely been dismantled. For example, Peter Lavelle and others on on Russia Today TV, while he presents the Russian response to world events, which correctly always seeks to avert confrontation, never loses an opportunity to repeat the Big Lie about the supposed “Soviet Collapse.� But now “Russia� finds how fast that “peace� has disappeared with the U.S. breaking virtually all of the U.S.-Soviet Peace Treaties of the 1990’s starting with the cornerstone of the agreements with the Soviet Union, the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty of 1972, which Bush formally broke on June 13, 2002 thus forcing the Russian Federation to withdraw from Start II, which banned the use of MIRV on ICBMs. NATO ships now fill the Black Sea as a further provocation after the U.S./Georgian Invasion/Provocation of South Ossetia, which the U.S. indubitably is rearming. In addition the U.S. is directing their Ukraine puppet Viktor Yushchenko to push the provocation/demand that the Russian fleet abandon its main Sevastopol base in the Crimea inhabited by 70% Russians!! Lots of luck! The U.S. is also building air bases in Georgia, which it plans to use against Iran and other countries. Public opinion does not support either the U.S. or NATO in such adventures, which are bound to fail no matter how many provocations are carried out and Big Lies are told.

The false claim of “economic collapse of the Soviet Union� was fabricated by the United States in order to try to demoralize the masses of the world, and the United States especially, to the only solution to the complex of problems created by capitalism-imperialism. That solution is Socialism! Which can only be achieved through a Socialist Revolution in the United States, which itself can only be carried out peacefully as occurred in the October Russian Revolution of 1917. Mikhail Gorbachev’s Op-Ed column in the New York Times, August 20, 2008, was the typical Stalinist (Not Communist!) opportunist, anti-Communist response, which did not explain the clever U.S. strategy of provocation primarily in order to create ethnic division in the Caucuses designed to last for generations and that Russia was forced to respond to these provocations.

In his surrender to the United States in 1988 Gorbachev carried out some rather heinous acts of murder of prominent Soviet representatives and “stones in the shoe� of the capitalists. For example, Gorbachev undoubtedly had the Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei Gromyko murdered in July 1989 because it would be inconceivable that Gromyko could espouse the surrender terms that Gorbachev had agreed to. Gromyko was thus seen as a potential troublemaker in the planned Soviet surrender. A living Gromyko would be more respected than a live Gorbachev. The U.S. and the USSR had also previously agreed to the murder of NAZI Rudolph Hess in preparation for the rather long-planned Soviet Surrender. (Remember even before he took power on March 12, 1985 British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s December 1984’s highly publicized statement: “We can do business with Mr. Gorbachev.�) Hess was 93 years old and imprisoned in Spandau Prison in Germany and simply refused to die a natural death. Hess was a continuing symbol of the NAZIs and the need for a continuing Soviet presence in Eastern Europe and thus an obstacle to the planned Soviet surrender. An extremely frail Hess, who needed help in tying his shoes by a male nurse, was murdered by wrapping an electric cord around his neck and choking him to death. The media trumpeted “suicide, when he had never ever attempted “suicide� previously, despite media “Big Lie� claims to the contrary. And the prolific Hess left no suicide note and was moreover physically totally feeble and completely unable to choke himself to death according to testimony by relatives! See extensive coverage in the New York Times on and after August 17, 2008. In addition, Gorbachev also gave the order for the murder of Kim Philby in May 1988, a Soviet Agent who had led the Russian division of British Intelligence (!) for decades and had escaped to the USSR in 1963 just in the nick of time to prevent his capture. In 1965 Kim Philby was awarded the Order of the Red Banner, one of the highest Soviet awards, and was made a General in the KGB. Another “stone in the shoe� of the capitalists who had to be removed! With these people dead no one could ask their opinions on the Gorbachev surrender. Others who had defected to the Soviet Union were also murdered to “clear the slate� for the coming Soviet Surrender.

Gorbachev’s own wife considered him to be a traitor and was estranged from him after Gorbachev carried out the provocation he used to discredit the Soviet leadership, many of whom were previously their respected and personal friends, but who were not allied to him in his surrender to the United States and had to be eliminated. On August 4, 1991with great fanfare the hugely unpopular Gorbachev took a vacation to the Crimea and behind the scenes encouraged so-called “Gang of Eight,� some of whom accompanied him to the Crimea (!) to stage what was described later as a “coup,� but unknown to them Gorbachev cut all their lines of communication and chain of command. Gorbachev controlled the media completely, NOT the other way around as officially portrayed, thus setting this “Communist� opposition up to be discredited and removed officially from all top government posts. Boris Yeltsin, an expert demagogue, was appointed beforehand by Gorbachev to move into the gap while Gorbachev was supposedly being “imprisoned in the Crimea.� Yeltsin was new and did not share Gorbachev’s mantle of unpopularity in the Soviet Union and the crowds were peppered with shills to scream his name, which the world capitalist media reported with glee. The media showed Yeltsin “heroically� denouncing the “coup� from the top of a tank. Gorbachev himself directed the so-called “Gang of Eight� to set up a plan of measures that supposedly could be taken in case a state of emergency!

Deputy USSR Defense Minister General Valentin Varennikov stated that Gorbachev himself had supported the coup and was behind all eight and had told the group: "Do what you think is needed, damn you!" to restore order and declare a state of emergency. Gorbachev knew these individuals opposed him and gave them the rope to hang themselves. The official name for the group was the State Committee on the State of Emergency (GKChP), and was headed by Vice President Gennadii Yanayev. Others included KGB head Vladimir Kryuchkov, Soviet Prime Minister Valentin Pavlov, and Defense Minister Dmitry Yazov, the USSR Internal Affairs Minister, Boris Pugo, deputy Chief of the USSR Defense Council Oleg Baklanov, Vasily Starodubtsev, chairman of the USSR Peasant Union and Alexander Tizyakov, president of the Association of the State Enterprises and Conglomerates of Industry, Transport, and Communications.. This group was almost immediately dismissed from their offices by Gorbachev after the coup began and he returned to Moscow with some of those very members (!), who were then all arrested. Pugo and his wife supposedly committed suicide but the reported circumstances at the time indicate it was murder. A highly publicized and staged attack on the Soviet Parliament, the so-called “White House,� which had to be put down militarily, was then carried out as yet another provocation to send the message of intimidation to the Communist Party members of Parliament and masses (who hated Gorbachev and what was happening under his leadership) that the military supported the Gorbachev/Yeltsin leadership. Later Gorbachev resigned officially and the Soviet surrender was consolidated under Yeltsin who liquidated the USSR officially on December 8, 1991, when the USSR, Belarus and the Ukraine signed the Belovezh Agreement, dissolving the Soviet Union and establishing a Commonwealth of Independent States.

In his August 20th New York Times Op-Ed Gorbachev also lied through omission by omitting the obvious long-range U.S. objectives of the U.S./Georgian Invasion/Provocation of South Ossetia. Putin and Medvedev to their credit eventually exposed these objectives although only secondarily and without appropriate focus and emphasis! By honestly explaining these provocations Russia would be able to explain how the U.S. intends to manipulate public opinion. This way the public in all countries would be on guard not to allow itself to be manipulated by the country which lied about “Weapons of Mass Destruction� in Iraq and which lies about everything. This should be a no-brainer but Stalinist opportunism blocks the mind.

United States Hopes To Try Another Full Court Press
Like in the 1980’s and Force A Second Russian Surrender!

On August 14, 2008 the U.S. signed an agreement to build a so-called “missile defense� system in Poland which includes missile interceptors. Russia has promised a “military response� if the missiles are installed in Poland. This sounds like Russia would take the missile installation(s) out in an air strike similar to the U.S./�Israel� bombing of the Osirak Reactor in Iraq in 1981 and the planned bombing of Iran, etc., etc. etc. Obviously the number of missiles in Poland will begin to increase exponentially as the U.S. orchestrates provocation after provocation on the border of Russia similar to the U.S./Georgian invasion of South Ossetia. This so-called “missile defense� is actually part of a Nuclear First Strike plan, which is actually a strategy of intimidation by the United States as was explained back in the 1980’s when the U.S. put a full court press on the USSR with a runaway nuclear arms race and “Star Wars� forcing the Soviet surrender by Gorbachev in 1988. Today the United States and NATO want to force the former Soviet Union into a second surrender as explained above! In an actual First Strike by the United States and the NATO PACT the so-called “Missile Defenses� are used simultaneously with a U.S. Nuclear First Strike in order to try to cripple the Russian response to the U.S. First Strike. The U.S. is hoping that they will win the game of “chicken� like they did in the 1980’s and that the Russians will back down and make a second surrender as they did in 1988. This is the present strategic centerpiece of U.S. “statecraft� with Russia.

Today ninety-five percent of New Yorkers agree that we need a new system based on human need not private profit. A Socialist Revolution in the United States will end the basis for all war and set the stage for solving the entire complex of problems created by capitalism, which threaten the survival of humankind. Capitalism cannot be reformed through elections or by any other means because the capitalist dictatorship is left in place and because capitalism has an internal dynamic of its own which leads to a constantly hardening capitalist dictatorship finally to Fascism, barbarism and the end of civilization and all life on Earth, as we see with the Runaway Greenhouse Effect, which has already begun. Politicians rise to the surface to the extent that they express and further this almost entirely one-way dynamic. The “presidential elections� are the primary weapon of deception of the capitalists, which is used to try to perpetuate the illusion of “democracy� in what is a constantly hardening capitalist dictatorship. Under capitalism “democracy� is simply a euphemism for capitalist dictatorship and enslavement! If you vote for anyone in the U.S. Presidential “elections� you have been neutralized and are a sucker! No candidate is even just a little “better� than another because the differences prior to the election virtually all disappear after the election according to the needs of the capitalist dictatorship, which makes the actual decisions based on its’ dynamic, development sequence or dialectic, which has little to do with its own preservation, which in turn underscores the fact that the system controls the politicians—not the other way around. Today capitalism is in its Final Stage of Permanent War and State Terrorism.

The United States Invasion of Iraq is one more act of State Terrorism and has resulted in the deaths of 1.2 million Iraqis by September 2007, one year ago, according to National Public Radio. Now the number is probably more than 1.5 million dead Iraqis. We are told to feel sorry for a few more than 4000 dead US mercenary murderers and cutthroats, the majority who come back with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from being forced to murder Iraqis. Capitalism offers a world with no future! Remember that in the end all wars are won and lost on morale and every movement begins with the call. Do not be intimidated! The first call must be to deprive the capitalists of bodies of armed men to send against the masses, by calling for the only political position with successful historical precedent: Call for Mutiny in Iraq as in Vietnam, the real reason and the ONLY reason the Vietnam War ended on the spot in 1975 after the Third Marine Division turned their guns around on their officers forcing the immediate and total evacuation of all U.S. troops in days and hours. Normally, when the U.S. invades a county they never leave. The U.S. has a military presence in over 130 countries right now and is now invading Pakistan and threatening to use their proxy state of so-called “Israel� to bomb Iran. The U.S. capitalist dictatorship used its proxy state of Georgia to invade the former USSR (South Ossetia) and is right now using their Fascist proxies to fight the governments of Bolivia (Evo Morales) and Venezuela (Hugo Chavez)!

The capitalist demagogues/stooges Obama, Clinton, McCain, etc. all call for “Phased Redeployment,� which means in practice simply transferring some forces from Iraq to Afghanistan (Obama, e.g.) or elsewhere and leaving a puppet government in place in Iraq. Bush has just initiated the beginning of this policy just prior to the sham U.S. “election.� But Mutiny Saves Lives! Mutiny is provided for by the Declaration of Independence which is actually a transitional document which supports a Socialist Revolution in the United States! We should all read that document now! It provides the legal basis for a Socialist Revolution in the United States although a legal basis is certainly not required to end a system fundamentally based on war, mass murder and crime! In addition to employing a mercenary army rather than a conscripted army the capitalists have tried to take precautions to try to prevent the reoccurrence of another Mutiny in Iraq as in Vietnam! Blackwater USA, Custer Battles, Dyncorp, etc and all 45,000 armed military contractors are paid 4 times what the regular U.S. mercenary marauder/cutthroat forces are paid in order to induce loyalty to the officer corps and are a NAZI-like SS (Schutzstaffel) formation which is in Iraq for one purpose only—to protect the Officer Corps in the event of another Mutiny—NOT to protect “diplomats,� the phony cover story foisted on an unsuspecting public. The U.S. created a mercenary army to replace the previous enlisted army used in Vietnam as the yet another tactic to try and prevent reoccurrence of mutiny. Therefore the present U.S. military mercenary army must get its act together, realize that their interests as well as the interests of all humankind are violated by the invasions of Iraq, etc. They will have to turn their guns around on their officers who must all be immediately arrested, unless they join and support the Mutiny, and then they must fight and decisively defeat Blackwater and the other 45,000 military contractors, which they can easily do if they organize themselves to do it, because the regular army is much larger and has heavier weapons. The key is organization, which is already in place. This will open the door to all further social progress and is the first step in ending the War Against Iraq and carrying out a Socialist Revolution in the United States and worldwide.

Patriotism is a capitalist gimmick, a deception to divide up the International Working Class against itself—once more—divide and conquer! Don’t be fooled! Remember that this is NOT our country! It is the capitalists’ country. We just live here! Only a Socialist Revolution in the United States can establish real democracy and freedom and make it our country! Under capitalism “democracy� is just a euphemism for capitalist dictatorship and enslavement and “freedom� is merely a euphemism for the capitalists freedom to exploit and super-exploit. That is the fundamental basis of “globalism� where the worlds’ capitalists compete worldwide for the lowest wage for workers! Once capitalism is overthrown at its center there will be no more center of world capitalism to act as a threat and the hard dictatorship of the Workers’ States will not be necessary and the basis for genuine democracy and a permanent end to class society will finally be established. We have to end the dictatorship of billionaires and millionaires and establish a new system based on human need where everyone can live like a millionaire. Today, in the United States there is enough money, enough wealth for that to be a reality in practice. Today, capitalism-imperialism has created the greatest economic disparity in all human history. This is due to the dynamic of capitalism based on exponentially increasing capital accumulation by the insignificant minority of capitalists and also has to do with the fact that the capitalist dictatorship knows that a Socialist Revolution is much less likely to occur if the masses are continuously kept on the edge of economic collapse and are encouraged to falsely believe that they must first look out for number one! The reality is that approach only perpetuates the capitalist dictatorship and is completely opposed to each individual’s self-interest and in final analysis is actually part of the capitalists’ strategy of divide and conquer. That is why the Call for Mutiny in Iraq must come from the United States!

Today, given the choice, the overwhelming majority of Americans agree with the statement: “We need a new system based on human need not private profit!� And given the choice the overwhelming majority also agree that “we need a Socialist Revolution in the United States!� These are both Communist responses! The U.S. population is therefore not “a little to the right of center� or even “a little to the left of center� as falsely portrayed by the U.S. media, but is receptive right now to a Socialist Revolution here in the United States. This means that at some level and actually at many levels the masses recognize that capitalism offers a world with no future! People understand at some level the emergency that exists. The reason that a Socialist Revolution has not occurred yet is because of the present correlation of class forces in the United States where the capitalist dictatorship is still able to maintain its dominance over its own masses at the center of world capitalism-imperialism. The capitalists rule through a combination of force and deception. At this point where capitalism has entered its final stage of Permanent War and State Terrorism and its class dictatorship is hardening by the day and growing more nakedly oppressive domestically and internationally the capitalists are depending once again on their Primary Weapon of Deception—the Presidential “Elections� process (see further below), which their accelerating loss of credibility forced them to initiate nearly a year earlier this time in order to try to divert the attention of the masses from actually even considering the possibility of a new system based on human need not private profit: “Look, look, look here are your new candidates—aren’t you happy and hopeful just thinking about them?� The capitalists’ objective is obviously to try to re-instill false “hope� in capitalism. Barack Obama’s disingenuous book: “The Audacity of Hope,� published in October 2006 is another indication that he has for many years been groomed for a presidential run, parrots and refurbishes Jesse Jackson’s deceptive slogan—“Keep Hope (in capitalism!) Alive,� which in turn was lifted from the fraudulent capitalist history: “Tragedy and Hope� by Carroll Quigley, a professional liar from the (CIA) Georgetown University center, which was once required reading for capitalist politicians and aspiring demagogues and counter-insurgents.

Every four years the capitalists pull another rabbit out of their hat as they stage their sham “elections� in order to continue to try to perpetuate the illusion of “democracy� in what is actually a hardening capitalist dictatorship, in order to string the masses along and try to coax and cajole them to agree more easily to their own oppression and genuine misery and poverty with such false promises of “Change We Can Believe In,� “Judgment to Lead� and “Solutions for America�, etc. etc. From the Working Class viewpoint a demagogue is defined as a false leader who pretends to represent the wishes and aspirations of the masses but actually represents the interests of the capitalist class. All of the candidates in elections held by the capitalist class represent the interests of the capitalist class because they try to deceive the masses to believe that capitalism can reform itself when scientific analysis and history reveals that to be completely impossible at this end stage in this final stage of capitalist development!

The capitalists’ present objective is to use the what they hope will be the increased credibility of an Obama Presidency to ram through the most oppressive measures possible against the masses domestically and of course to continue the “War on Terror,� the pretext for the final stage of capitalism-imperialism: Permanent War and State Terrorism. With the outcome of a victory by the Democrats completely assured in the 2008 “elections,� the capitalists do not actually care who wins between Obama and Hillary Clinton—whoever has the greatest ability to fool the masses is who they want, despite the fact that the Clintons have controlled the Democratic Party leadership since 1992! In their desperation and frustration and anger at the Bush Regime the supporters of these new stooges/demagogues, Obama and Hillary Clinton, etc. usually do not look closely at what the candidates actually say about the War in Iraq, the Global Warming (which data now show has entered the stage of a Runaway Greenhouse Effect) or any other issue. For example, all candidates support continuation of the War in Iraq, installation of the U.S. puppet “Iraqi� government and leaving a large number of troops in Iraq indefinitely through “phased withdrawal� rather than a total evacuation as occurred in Vietnam due to the 1975 mutiny! It is not only the youth, but all those who see no future in the present course, who recognize at some level that capitalism offers a world with no future and who actually do want a new system based on human need, who in their desperation, frustration and anger end up being forced to put their faith in one or another of these capitalist demagogues because there seems to be no other choice. The masses are presented with no alternative but to participate in the sham, staged U.S. presidential elections where the outcome has largely been decided in advance and has been ever since Watergate. Most people think that it is the only game in town. Not true, as we shall see!

The Legal Basis To Abolish Capitalism Exists and is Compelling!

Although it is not actually necessary let us examine the legal basis for the alternative to capitalism, although that is not actually a requirement to carry out a Socialist Revolution in the United States: First of all, there is no founding document which enshrines capitalism as the permanent economic-political-social system for the United States! On the contrary, the primary founding document of the United States, The Declaration of Independence written by Thomas Jefferson and signed by all of the so-called “founding fathers� is actually a transitional document which provides for and authorizes a Socialist Revolution in the United States. A Socialist Revolution in the United States is the only prudent and appropriate response to the domestic and international tyranny, oppression and threat to human civilization and indeed all life on Earth, which the United States Capitalist Class Dictatorship today subjects the entire world! (And which will not change one iota under an Obama or Clinton regime!) All the so-called “founding fathers� signed this document, which states: “Whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of (the unalienable Rights of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness) it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundations on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness� and “...when a long train of abuses and usurpations pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government and to provide new Guards for their future security.� In no way could this language possibly be interpreted to mean to simply hold new “elections� under capitalism—as falsely claimed by political police agent provocateur Ralph Nader, when it is clear that the problems have all been created by the capitalist system itself. “Alter� in this instance does mean first to try to reform capitalism, which is tried with each new capitalist election, but the one-way dynamic of capitalism (see below) combined with the absence of the Soviet Union as a counter-force, the effectiveness of which was weakening even prior to the 1988 Soviet surrender (see below) makes that now impossible as history has demonstrated. (“Reform� when used by the capitalists themselves is a euphemism, which invariably means escalating their war against the Working Class, middle-income earners and the Poor. “Form of Government� in this context refers to the class structure of the state, not to electing different capitalist politicians. The document calls for laying new foundation and principles, which in today’s context means to organize a new type of state and society on a different basis of class ownership based on ownership and control by the Working Class, which is the only possible means to actually achieve the unalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness guaranteed by the Declaration of Independence. Abolishing the capitalist dictatorship is the only correct approach and that is what the Declaration of Independence demands once certain conditions have been met. Those conditions have been met.

Ralph Nader, who has also entered the 2008 “race,� is in his actions 100% aligned with the capitalist dictatorship (see below), and lies through his teeth and makes specious argument when he falsely claims: “Thomas Jefferson believed that when you lose your government, you've got to go into the electoral arena. A Jeffersonian revolution (!) is needed in this country. All we can do is try to loosen it up, challenge it, bring it to account in some court cases and build for the future. We can also keep an exciting, practical, progressive agenda before the American people — get more people to run for local, state and national office." Emphasis added. Jefferson never said any such thing! Nader falsely and absurdly claims that a presidential election is a “Jeffersonian Revolution.� It is very clear by these statements that Nader’s objective is to use the deception of the presidential “elections� try to keep dissenters within the framework of the capitalist dictatorship. Elections are held every 4 years in any case so Jefferson and his founding father co-signers were certainly not speaking about elections.

The basic question of every revolution is that of state power. The state is nothing more than a machine for suppressing one class by another. Unless this question is thoroughly understood there can be no intelligent participation in the revolution, not to speak of guidance of the revolution. Although the capitalist regime today is composed largely of Fascists and proto-Fascists we do not yet have Fascism in the United States. We have Rule By Decree, technically known as Bonapartism, in the form of a bureaucratic-military police state. This is further explained below. What is most important to understand is that capitalism is a class dictatorship based on the fact that the capitalists own the means of production, the factories, the land, the banks, the military, the media (a privatized arm of the U.S. government’s so-called “intelligence community�), the educational system, where the state begins the brainwash of the youth. Children who become the brainwashed adults are forced to pledge allegiance to the rapidly hardening capitalist dictatorship, which is falsely labeled “a democracy,� a Big Lie constantly repeated everywhere by the capitalist dictatorship. The youth are limited in their instruction to blindly memorize and regurgitate “facts�—many of which are lies, but to receive little to no instruction in inductive reasoning and dialectical thinking, which is absolutely required to understand the meaning and significance of the “facts� which they learn, to debate their truthfulness and most importantly to help organize the masses in their own self-interest to carry out a Socialist Revolution in the United States. The capitalists’ objective is to try to ensure that the masses remain forever as children and to later be ready to fanatically fight and die in war for the capitalists’ interests only—never their own interests! A Socialist Revolution will abolish the basis for all wars.

Finally, the capitalists own and operate the entire political process with their 2 parties, parties which of course represent only capitalist interests. Even under a parliamentary system such as in France, Italy or England the capitalists run all of the parties including those that falsely claim to be “Communist� and “Socialist� and largely orchestrate all outcomes of the elections. For example, in the most recent French “election� Segolene Royal and the Socialist Party deliberately self-sabotaged the election in order to enable the election of the Fascist Nicolas Sarkozy in order to spearhead the capitalists’ objective to reduce and ultimately remove the social programs and public education in France, and the Socialist Party was rewarded for its treachery with multiple portfolios in the Sarkozy government! In addition, all of the U.S. presidential “election� outcomes are rigged in advance, and have been ever since Watergate. (See further below.) When the manipulated outcome sought by the capitalists has not occurred as in the 2000 and 2004 “elections,� where the masses nevertheless elected the Democrat Al Gore and the Democrat John Kerry despite deliberate self-sabotage by those candidates and media sabotage of their campaigns (see below), the election results were simply overthrown completely in what is a continuing coup d’etat in the United States. George Bush is therefore not “the president.� Bush is a usurper. The coup d’etat of 2000-2004 represents a total breakdown in the capitalists’ illusion of “democracy� and will not change with the 2008 “election� of Obama. The entire sham “election process� is carried out in order to generate high interest to make it seem to be “a real nail biter,� “a real horse race,� “a real cliff-hanger� in order to bamboozle, hornswoggle, hoodwink, flim-flam and deceive the masses in every conceivable way into falsely thinking that the outcome will change their lives in any appreciable way. It will not! The reality is that the masses have no horse in this race! It is a fact that no candidate for president even offers or suggests or even mentions a new system based on human need not private profit, which the majority of Americans, when given that choice say they want! The capitalist “elections� exist precisely to try to prevent that choice from ever becoming a reality! All candidates offer only a continuation of the capitalist dictatorship. For Obama and McCain, etc. all issues actually reduce to a single question: how best to preserve capitalism-imperialism. That is the reality! At an earlier point in history capitalism created a revolutionary break with feudalism and introduced great advancement in production. But today capitalism in its final end stage has proved to have no viable future and now threatens all life on Earth. We need a new system based on human need not private profit simply in order to survive. Even the capitalists have no future under capitalism! And many capitalists are acutely aware of this fact!

The survival of civilization as we will see below, therefore depends on carrying out a Socialist Revolution here in the United States, which will then follow automatically, almost simultaneously worldwide because there will be no more center of world capitalism-imperialism. (See toward the conclusion of this Analysis and Theses—The Dialectical and Historical World View.) The wisest course of action for the masses is to totally abandon all voting in the presidential and congressional “elections� while putting their energy instead into actually calling for and organizing a new system based on human need not private profit. It is absolutely crucial to reject completely the capitalists’ Primary Weapon of Deception—their Presidential “Elections.� Voting means that you have been neutralized by the capitalist dictatorship and still are entertaining the notion, or are willing at some level to “hope� that capitalism can be reformed, which is simply not possible. Capitalism can never be turned into a system based on human need! Private profit and human need are mutually exclusive. As explained below humankind simply does not have the time for any more games of “hope� in capitalism.

The capitalist dictatorship in the United States is hardening by the day, which is obvious to even the casual observer. This is due to the natural dynamic or development sequence of capitalism, a dialectic which is largely independent of the wills of the individual capitalists and the capitalist politicians themselves. The politicians who rise to the top in the hardening capitalist dictatorship are those who express and further this one-way dynamic! That includes Obama. And obviously this applies to the openly Fascist Republicans. The capitalists can not change that reality! That’s why “elections� under capitalism cannot change anything no matter how they are carried out. This dynamic leads to a constantly hardening capitalist class dictatorship finally to Fascism, which is defined as the hard dictatorship of capitalism. See below. As mentioned there is no genuine “democracy� under capitalism—not even for the capitalists themselves.

Not since the 1960 election where Kennedy bought a few more votes than Nixon have there been 2 separate capitalist factions! Neither faction then represented the interests of the Working Class! The same is true today! After 1960 all elections were settled by assassinations and gunplay until Nixon, the organizer and implementer of the new-style government by assassination, was removed bloodlessly through the Watergate scandal by Nelson Rockefeller—not a second in line at the FBI (Mark Felt)—who merely carried those messages to the Washington Post which were authorized by Nelson Rockefeller in 1974. (See below.) Nelson Rockefeller simply felt under threat himself from Nixon once a Rockefeller ally. Rockefeller and Rockefeller ally Henry Kissinger together were the so-called “deep throat.� Another topic which is analyzed in depth following the discussion of the main topics, is the Big Lie of a supposed “collapse of the Soviet Union.� That Big Lie is used to demoralize the masses against the only solution to the complex of problems created by capitalism-imperialism and was refuted even by the Central Intelligence Agency, on network television news in 1990 and 1991 who stated that the CIA had no data or factual basis to support the claim of a “Soviet economic collapse.� That is because there was no “Soviet economic collapse� and CIA indignantly did not want to lend itself to acting merely as a propaganda outfit as Bush tried to do prior to the U.S. Invasion of Iraq. Briefly, the USSR simply backed down from the Reagan era “full court press� of a stepped-up nuclear arms race during the 1980’s where the capitalists launched their First Strike Star Wars program and placed First Strike Pershing II Nuclear missiles in Germany 10 minutes from Moscow! This escalated the situation to Launch on Warning. Mutally Assured Destruction became imminent. It was that situation alone which caused the Soviet surrender in 1989 and subsequent dismantlement of that Workers’ State, but which has left the former Soviet power structure intact. (See further below.)

Remember that U.S. patriotism-chauvinism-jingoism means being willing to die or being willing to tell others to die for the capitalist warmongers and exploiters and super-exploiters. Never fall for it! As a first step we should never ever be sucked into saying “we� or “our� in referring to United States policy or actions! That opportunistic choice of words deceives the speaker into thinking that his or her interests coincide with the interests of the capitalist dictatorship and is wrong in the first place because the United States is not “our country.� It is the capitalists’ country! In addition, such an opportunistic choice of words immediately implicates the speaker in the crimes of U.S. capitalism-imperialism against the entire world and against its own citizens. Nobody should lose sight of that fact for one moment! Under capitalism the word “democracy� is simply a euphemism for capitalist dictatorship and enslavement. “Freedom� under capitalism simply means the freedom to exploit and oppress. Only after class society is abolished through a Socialist Revolution in the United States can there be genuine democracy for the Working Class and everyone else. The capitalists have divided their domestic population on multiple bases and intimidated and brainwashed the masses to fear Socialism, despite the fact that the 1917 Russian Revolution and World Communist Movement in the 1930’s is responsible for all of the social programs which still exist in the United States (see further below). Up to now the capitalists have been able to inoculate and intimidate people against the only solution to their problems. The capitalists have also infantilized the masses using various means including Disneyland, Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, Alice in Wonderland, etc. Political cartoons also rely on cynicism—a capitalist philosophy of submission, resignation, acquiescence, despair and defeat. Cynicism is also promulgated by the capitalists’ political comedians wherever possible (see below). The result is that the masses are more likely to see themselves as children feeling hopeless, resigned to that fact, and constantly look up to the capitalist politicians as “the adults.� Nixon and others have openly referred to the masses as “the children.� But the capitalists’ deceptions now wear thin as the masses begin to sense the gravity of the present situation.

Despite the capitalist brainwash the overwhelming majority of Americans nevertheless now support the “need for a new system based on human need not private profit!� Even within the capitalist state bureaucratic apparatus itself when given that choice the majority support the call for a new system based on human need not private profit! The material presented herein is intended as an aid to help progressive people consciously deprogram themselves from the capitalist brainwash which targets the masses every day from every direction and to provide a genuine basis to organize the Socialist Revolution in the United States. This is the wisest course of action and it is both possible and necessary. Do not be demoralized! Before I start: I'm not a McCain troll, nor will I be able to vote in the first place, since I am German.

Republican nuts would now tell me to p### off because US elections aren't my business anyway. But when it comes to Wall Street: that is world economy - and a disaster here is a disaster in every country on Earth.

So I raise my voice: Senator Obama, the bail-out plan fights fire with fire! And I'm sure you know this. I can see that something must be done, that a levee must be built to prevent main street from a hurricane called deflation. But you cannot fight debt with another debt.

Let me clear my point a bit: The crisis on Wall street stems from the habit of US investment banks to lend money this very banks borrowed from other banks in the first place - who themselves borrowed it somewhere else - and so on.

Thus the housing bubble was created: a huge balloon of purely virtual money - until the market decided it's time to see how much of this money actually is real.

Turned out it wasn't too much.

And now the chosen solution should be to borrow more money? This time from those who - in the end - will really have to pay it?

There was a time in world economy when money and real products where more or less in balance. When you could bet on the productivity of a given company or country. That wasn't always a nice game, but it kept money and production in balance. Money was god, but at least it was an entity you could touch.

At some point during the last 20 years America invented a new god: virtual money. An entity you cannot touch - but as a vacuum it exists nonetheless:
- America still borrows 1 billion dollars each working day from foreign countries
- Since 1999 the US car industry lost 300.000 jobs and still does not have an answer to the rising fuel costs
- America's industry and infrastructure haven't really developed over the last 25 years
- the yearly oil invoice of your country is 500 billion dollars, mostly accounted for by Chinese money
- There's not a single country in the developed world where people save less money from their income (and that is not because you earn less)

And now the vacuum collapses - and this implosion will have huge collateral damage all around the world if not mitigated. Banks will sit on the little money they still have and not lend it to companies who need it to produce goods. People will become unemployed and industry production will go down. As a result more loans will fail - and banks will become even more careful with their money. A vicious circle called deflation.

What does all of this lead to? First of all it leads to the conclusion, that the bail-out doesn't solve your problem since it doesn't remove the very cause of the problem: there's too much virtual money around.
When it comes down to this the bail-out probably will make things worse. The only positive thing you can say about it: it will buy you time. Time to slowly reduce the amount of virtual money in the market, lead it towards funding of real industry production and make it money that actually has a value in the real world outside the Wall Street books.

Why does it make me nervous, that the last ten years America used it's time to sell its future?

So this is what Senator Obama clearly must see (and I'm positive he is intelligent enough to see it): If he signs this bail-out he still has to attend the American people that his task will be to reduce the only virtual wealth Joe Average now is paying high interest rates for.

America needs to go back to work, starting to actually produce stuff. America needs to learn that it is facing 20 years of hard work before it will make it back to the level of wealth it has dreamt of the last years.

As I said: I am German, and since 1990 we try to build up a working economy in a part of our country where there was just a socialist dream before. This is a much smaller task compared to the one you are facing. But still after 18 years we haven't quite achieved our goals (Republican nuts would now diss the German ability of working hard).

Since I trust in Senator Obama's ability to see through things I am sure he's aware of this. I hear about his plans for renewable energy, infrastructure, etc. And that is all the right decision. But what America also needs is a "blood, sweat & tears" speech. Something to wake your nation up. The road back to a healthy economy might be longer than those of you at my age (born 1961) will see in their lifetime.

What you need is no less than a complete twist of your character as a nation. It's not enough to win this election. A president Obama needs to convince all parts of the society: republicans, evangelicals, rednecks, media, everyone. If that doesn't happen every effort will be destroyed in four years. Because things will hardly look much better in only four years.

Sorry for interfering. I know you have an election to win and you do not need advice from foreigners. But I consider myself a friend of the Obama campaign - and if you read up to this point I hope I completely didn't upset you.

Michael Phelps, the Beijing Olympics, the
U.S./Georgian proxy Invasion of South Ossetia,
and Prospects For a Socialist Revolution In the United States!
September 28, 2008 Update

Phelps did not win the Olympic Butterfly 100 meter final. Milorad Cavic of Serbia won the event and after the race stated that he had won the event. Cavic had already soundly beaten Phelps in the Semifinals of that event! After the race Phelps also stated that he thought he had lost. And even Phelp’s mother first acted as though she thought Phelps had lost! She appeared totally dumbfounded but accepted it! Cavic’s coach said that he would launch a protest. Serbia also “launched a protest.� Then later both the Serbian government (a U.S. proxy/puppet regime installed after the U.S./NATO-led dismemberment/ethnic cleansing of the sovereign country of Yugoslavia, where under Tito everybody lived together in peace) and Cavic and his coach both withdrew their complaints. U.S. Puppet/Proxy Serbia was clearly under extreme pressure from the United States. Serbia in turn put extreme pressure on Cavic and his coach who withdrew their complaint. The United States wanted their “Golden Boy� (Bloomberg TV, August 18, 2008), and refused to permit the reality of the loss to Cavic to spoil the headline heralding Phelps: “A PERFECT FINISH, AN UNMATCHED RECORD.� New York Times (August 17, 2008) The U.S. intends to use Phelps as part of the capitalists’ fraudulent propaganda campaign that Phelps supposedly represents “victorious capitalism� while the capitalists are in fact losing all over the world as the world enters the beginning of another Great Depression!

The FINA executive Director, Cornel Marculescu, first stated that FINA would not permit the release of the footage by Omega the official timekeeper for the Beijing Games of the finish under the phony hard-sell pretext: “We are not going to distribute the footage. We are not doing THESE KINDS OF THINGS. (!) EVERYTHING IS GOOD. (!?) What are you going to do with the footage? See what the Serbians already saw? It is clarified for us beyond any doubt. He’s the winner in any way. (?) He’s the winner no doubt. Even if you could see the pictures, I don’t know how you could use them.� And Cavic the actual winner stated: “If you ask me, it should be accepted and we should move on. I’ve accepted defeat, and there’s nothing wrong with losing to the greatest swimmer there has ever been.� (!?) (New York Times, August 17, 2008) Parentheses added. The answer to this sort of tripe is simply: “What are you afraid of? What do you have to hide from an actual frame-by-frame analysis? Except the victory of Cavic over Phelps! You sound like a liar caught in a clumsy cover-up! You don’t make decisions for me Big Brother!�

Under public Pressure FINA later was forced to release what they said were digital frame-by-frame footage of the finish which they claimed showed that Phelps had won but actually DID NOT show that Phelps had won (New York Times, August 24, 2008). The images show conclusively that Cavic touched the wall fist without a doubt! But according to Dale Neuberger, Vice President of FINA the system that determines who wins the race actually measures “the instant of depression, of activation of the touch pad, not contact with the pad.� Careful observation reveals that Cavic touched the wall first and that his elbows were slightly bent indicating that he had depressed the touch pad with sufficient pressure (only 1.5 kilograms of pressure per square centimeter, according to Neuberger) to stop the clock.

The event was apparently also not actually shown LIVE. There was on a time delay despite the LIVE claim on the TV screen. Within seconds of the finish which showed Phelps in the water after the race he was suddenly being interviewed on the tarmac! Not credible! It is very easy to rig such an event if the race is that close. The U.S. knew that it might be close because of the fact that Cavic had already beaten Phelps in the Semifinals and they could not let anything alter their propaganda use of Phelps in order to try to improve the depraved image of the U.S. The reality, of course is that the United States is the most hated and despised country in the world. The majority of the world’s citizens recognize that the United States, which reflects the naked dynamic of capitalism, as the source of all war as well as all economic disparity. A software program can be easily written to cover all eventualities in such a situation where the finish of the 100-meter Fly was expected to be very close. The U.S. government can and does routinely hack computers of their adversaries and send computer viruses which completely destroy their adversaries’ hard drives and the entire computer, for example, and more (e.g. monitors by overloading them and simultaneously corrupting multiple Debit Card accounts with Dell Computer and Paypal, for example), as this writer and his roommate have experienced firsthand. The bottom line for this particular computer program, which undoubtedly gave Phelps his false “victory� was that unless Cavic won by a clearly visible margin he would “lose� in a very close race, even if he actually won! And that is exactly what happened!! The 2 electronic touch pads on the walls of the pool can be reversed in their polarity in a digital twinkling, so that even if Cavic touched the wall first it would simply register as Phelps touching the wall. Because if you look closely in that part of the replay which was permitted directly after the race and the images which were later release and printed in the New York Times (see above) it is quite clear that is what happened. Phelps lost! And he and the majority of viewers, including his own mother, knew that he lost! But he was very happy to accept the false victory! It should be recalled that with the Zapruder film of the JFK Assassination the “commentator� Dan Rather lied about what it showed, falsely stating that Kennedy’s head flew backwards due to totally fabricated so-called “jet effect� violating all laws of physics in response to a supposed bullet fired from behind him, when in fact JFK was hit only by 2 shots both fired from the front. One went through his tie knot and the other was the Dum-Dum bullet that hit him in the right forehead and killed him instantly. (Writer is the number one authority on JFK assassination who gave the keynote talk on JFK at Ethical Culture Society on November 12, 1975, twelfth anniversary of JFK Assassination, but who is not permitted to speak on anti-Communist WBAI radio on any topic!)

Both Serbia and the Peoples’ Republic of China (PRC) went along with the fraudulent Phelps’ “victory� in the 100-meter Fly because of political pressure from the United States. China was indubitably blackmailed and threatened that unless they went along with the crime the U.S. would push the age issue with the clearly underage Chinese girl gymnasts and take away their Olympic Team gold medal. Humiliation the Chinese did not want to accept! This is also the reason that the PRC went along with the U.S. all around victory in girls’ gymnastics which was accomplished by U.S. puppet judges grossly inflating the level of difficulty and execution by the U.S. and doing the reverse and chiseling big-time the level of difficulty and the execution of the vastly superior Chinese girl gymnasts. Shawn Johnson for example, was permitted to usurp second place in the all-around title after putting in very simple routines in the uneven bars and balance beam even though she won the event on an individual basis later. Even in the floor exercise Johnson’s level of difficulty and execution were pumped up like a balloon while the Chinese gymnasts routines were falsely downgraded. This modus operandi occurred over and over!

Although it made a pro forma protest against the U.S.-instigated “independence� of Kosovo, the Serbian government is a U.S. puppet/virtual proxy state which was installed after the U.S. division of Yugoslavia, a country where under Marshall Tito everyone got along. Serbia is a U.S. puppet just like the government of Georgia, which was incidentally authorized and directed by the U.S. to invade South Ossetia and now falsely denies it. In July 2008 Kindasleezy Rice standing beside Saakashvilli in Tbilisi, offered encouragement to Saakashvilli similar to that given to the later-sacrificed Saddam Hussein on July 25, 1990 by U.S. Ambassador to Iraq, April Glaspie, to invade Kuwait.

Glaspie suckered Saddam Hussein by giving him the green light to invade Kuwait by telling him: “We have no opinion on Arab-Arab conflicts like your border disagreement with Kuwait.� (New York Times, 9/23/90)). In 1989-1990 the United States carried out a carefully planned provocation, which Saddam fell for hook line and sinker. The U.S apparently guaranteeing Kuwait its protection, instructed Kuwait to drill long slanted wells under the Iraq-Kuwait border where the Rumaila Iraqi oil field juts somewhat into Kuwait, thus stealing Iraqi oil and also draining off the natural gas pressure which had forced the oil naturally and easily up to the surface. Then to drive the provocation home, Kuwait, fully authorized by the U.S. and believing that it had protection from the United States, began overproducing and selling their stolen Iraqi oil at far below the OPEC price thus also waging direct economic war against Iraq and the rest of OPEC! (Iraq’s oil revenues at that time dropped $1 billion for every drop of a dollar in the price of crude oil.) Even after the 1990 July 12th OPEC meeting both Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates refused to abide by the OPEC agreement, which allowed them to sell slightly below the OPEC price and continued to sell crude oil far below the agreed price! Iraq was thus provoked and then over-provoked into invading ALL of Kuwait, which they would have to do in order to overthrow the Kuwaiti government, which was merely carrying out U.S. orders for provoking Iraq. Invading all of Kuwait was necessary in order to create the uproar required to justify the huge long-planned U.S. invasion. In response to this deliberate provocation on July 24, 1990 Iraq first moved 2 armored divisions to the Kuwait border. Later that same day, Margaret Tutwiler, when asked whether the U.S. had any plans to defend Kuwait demurely replied: “We do not have any defense treaties with Kuwait, and there are no special defense or security commitments to Kuwait.� On July 25, 1990, the next day, Saddam Hussein summoned U.S. Ambassador to Iraq April Glaspie to his office. According the Wall Street Journal, February 19, 1999, April Glaspie did everything possible to suck Saddam Hussein into the trap telling him that Bush I (H.W. Bush) had rejected trade sanctions against Iraq (!) or any other reprisal (right!) if he were to invade Kuwait and reassured Hussein by telling him: “I have direct instructions from the president to seek better relations with Iraq.�

The U.S. directed Saakashvilli to invade the independent area of South Ossetia while the world was being distracted by the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. (Rice incidentally also brazenly blurted out at a dinner in Spring 2004 in Washington, D.C. that she was the mistress of the usurper Bush calling him “my husband� before correcting herself to “the president�!)

In addition, the U.S. and the U.S. proxy state, so-called “Israel� have supplied virtually all of Georgia’s military hardware and the U.S. has admitted to having trained the Georgian military. The U.S. also admitted that it had over 2000 military “advisors� and “trainees� in Georgia at the time of the invasion of South Ossetia! Russia Today TV initially reported that “American mercenaries� (all U.S. military personnel today are “volunteers� a 1984 Orwellian euphemism for mercenaries) accompanied the invading force into South Ossetia and that some may have been killed. The Russians found a U.S. Passport of Michael Lee White in Tskhinvali documenting U.S. involvement. These reports were re-confirmed August 29, 2008 on Russia Today TV.

The U.S./Georgian Invasion of South Ossetia was carried out with the primary objective of trying to create ethnic division in a U.S. attempt to discredit, weaken and divide discredit Russia just like they did with Yugoslavia in the 1990’s. The U.S.-led capitalist media, which is a privatized arm of the U.S. government’s so-called “intelligence community� and the United Nations were prepared in advance to focus only on Russia’s response 1 ½ days later after the U.S./Georgian invasion of South Ossetia by driving U.S./Georgian forces out of South Ossetia and following their retreat into Georgia in order to destroy much of Georgia’s U.S. supplied military. Saakhashvilli’s local credibility was sacrificed in the short term for the United States long-range objective of trying to eventually overthrow the Russian government, install a puppet government in the former CCCP as in the Ukraine, Georgia and the former Baltic Soviet Republics, and steal Russia’s unbelievable wealth of natural resources just like the U.S. is doing in Iraq. On September 28, 2008 on Russia Today TV In Context with Peter Lavelle, Alexandr Chachiya apparently a legitimate Georgian opposition figure, stated that Saakashvilli was not acting in the best interests of Georgia but of the U.S. and would probably be replaced by Nino Burjanadze, the Chairwoman of the Georgian Parliament, who along with all “opposition� parties in Georgia was also controlled by the United States, and that because of that fact Georgian policies toward Russia would not change. He also confirmed what this writer said soon after the Georgian Invasion/Provocation in South Ossetia, namely that the United States wanted to create chaos in the Caucuses for reasons already previously provided in this analysis.

The situation surrounding Russia today looks dangerously similar to the beginning of a replay of 1940 with the NAZIS on the border of the USSR preparing to invade. In fact Senator Prescott Bush, the father of George Herbert Walker Bush (Bush I) and George Herbert Walker both fanatical anti-Communists, funded the NAZIs before WWII. The grandson of Prescott Bush is the current “Usurper� in the White House. Barack Obama has stated that he intends to continue the same policies of encirclement of the former USSR just like the NAZIs did in 1940! Biden forcefully echoes this anti-Russian plan. And McCain/Palin are even more rabid-sounding Fascists.

The claim by Putin that the U.S./Georgian invasion of South Ossetia was a “provocation� to help McCain win the White House is indubitably false! That explanation is a simultaneous cover-up invented to minimize the actual objectives (see below) and a diplomatic gambit by Russia to allow the U.S. to cool it and to re-evaluate. The reality is that the permanent government of the U.S. capitalist dictatorship wants to go with a Democratic administration for 2008 for several reasons. The capitalists want to tighten and harden the capitalist dictatorship domestically and to try to gain support for their so-called “War on Terror by supposedly gaining the support of a democratic constituency. The truth is that Obama will be a “Black� Bush. The reason that Obama did not want Hillary Clinton as his vice-presidential nominee was because in that case it was very likely that the Democrats would win by as much as 30 to 40 points or more. In the event of such a lopsided victory the democratic constituency would be inclined to expect some sort of a “leftward shift� in U.S. foreign and domestic political policy, which is not at all in the cards as a review of Obama’s actual economic-political-social statements and positions in print fully document. The U.S. capitalist dictatorship always wants to try to keep the presidential “elections� close to try to build interest in the sham “election� and “credibility� in a contrived and manipulated “close nail biter/cliff hanger election� to create the false belief that every second person supports the government policies. The reality is that only around 20% of Americans support the Bush regime!

The only way the capitalists could have a close election in such circumstances would be for Obama to move significantly to the right, which he has done. Sarah Palin who initially was portrayed as very popular was quickly portrayed as inexperienced and very dangerous lest she gain too much popularity which might interfere with the planned Obama “victory� in waht is another sham “election� used to perpetuate the capitalist dictatorship. The reality is that 95% of New Yorkers and presumably the majority of Americans agree that we need a new system based on human need not private profit! In addition, the capitalists do not want to marginalize or alienate the Fascist and proto-Fascist elements in the United States, which they need in order to support the fundamental war-based, mass murder-based and crime-based U.S. policies. The capitalists also plan to try to divert the people who are fooled into voting for Obama to join a “volunteer community service,� a form of slavery being hyped by the capitalist media and both “candidates,� which along with “faith-based initiatives� are going to try to substitute for government social programs. “Community service� is a sentence dealt out to non-violent first-time offenders in the U.S. legal system. Obama has such total contempt for the intelligence of the masses that he thinks he can turn a court sentence into a means to pump up U.S. patriotism and support U.S. policies similar to the Hitler Jungend (Hitler Youth). Through slogans like “shared sacrifice� Obama has been chosen to try to abolish the function of Social Security (keeping older people alive), and to try to whip the masses in line to support U.S. policies such as “the right war in Afghanistan� (!) and the “War on Terror.� which is simply the pretext used by the capitalists to maintain capitalism in its final stage of Permanent War and State Terrorism.

The invasion of South Ossetia was thus a deliberate provocation which Russia had no choice but to respond to and was carried out to achieve several objectives, the first of which is described above but that invasion also has disturbing parallels to the Full Court Press. Star Wars (SDI)/Nuclear Arms Race that the Reagan Regime put on the USSR in the 1980’s which ultimately forced the surrender by Mikhail Gorbachev to the threat of a nuclear war. The purpose of that 1980’s Nuclear Arms Race to force a Soviet surrender was openly acknowledged by the Fascist John McCain in the first presidential debate on September 26, 2008. The capitalist media focus on the Russian response to the invasion of South Ossetia, rather than the U.S./Georgian Invasion of South Ossetia, has been used to build public support in Poland for the so-called U.S. “Missile Defense� to be placed in Poland and later the radar to be built in the U.S.-puppet Czech Republic where an agreement has already been signed with no public referendum permitted. Public support in Poland on the other hand, which opposed the U.S. “missile defense� prior to the Russian response in South Ossetia, now supposedly supports it! Beginning in January 1984 and with full deployment completed in 1985 the U.S. was able to place Pershing Nuclear First Strike Nuclear Missiles in Germany 10 minutes from Moscow, but only after carrying out the 1983 Korean Airliner Provocation in order to discredit the European Communist-led opposition to the placement of Pershing II missiles in Germany. Placement of Pershing II First Strike Missiles in Germany caused the surrender by Gorbachev in 1988 to the threat of an imminent nuclear war, the inexorable outcome of a nuclear arms race. (There was no Soviet “economic collapse� as testified by the CIA on U.S. network TV news in 1990, which stated that they had no data whatsoever or any indications of an incipient “economic collapse in the USSR.� This was because there was no economic collapse, but rather a Soviet surrender to the threat of a nuclear war followed by a long and painful dismantlement of the Soviet Workers’ State during the 1990’s leaving the Stalinist (not Communist!) leadership structure in place.)

In that provocation an altitude bomb (described by the Soviet pilot Gennadi Osipovich as “a large secondary explosion which destroyed the aircraft as it descended�) was placed in the Korean 747 airliner to insure that even if the USSR did not shoot it down, which it did, the U.S. could claim the plane was shot down. That plane was going down period!! The Korean pilot was directed to fly straight into the Soviet Union over the Kamchatka peninsula and was personally assured by the disgraced murderer Richard Nixon who was at the airport in Anchorage, Alaska before it took off, that the Soviets would not shoot down the plane because they would not risk the bad publicity which would damage international relations! The official story was that Nixon “almost took the flight!� So disingenuous!

In carrying out his surrender Gorbachev was following the Strategy of Brest Litovsk, where Lenin was forced to sign an ignominious peace agreement with the German Kaiser in order to gain time with the understanding that all the Russian land that the early Soviets were forced to give up would be later regained. That was the case. Gorbachev was completely correct in believing that the inexorable outcome of a nuclear arms race was nuclear war. Gorbachev also knew and calculated that by the Soviet Union leaving the field the dynamic of capitalism would exist unchecked thus exacerbating and accelerating the contradictions of capitalism-imperialism thus hopefully making these contradictions stand out in bold relief and bringing it closer to the final scrap heap of human history. The dynamic of capitalism has indeed been accelerated in spades! The Fascists are once again on the Russian doorstep. Gorbachev wanted to try to permanently eliminate the nuclear threat. And he did so—for a time! And he wanted to integrate the former USSR into the world capitalist economy making it much less likely to be a nuclear target of world capitalism. And he did so up to Bush’s abandoning the ABM Treaty in the U.S. preparation to continue its so-called “missile defense� which is nothing more than an attempt to force a second Russian Surrender. See below. But the 1988 Soviet Surrender to the Threat of a Nuclear War also created many more contradictions.

Today, Russia in typical Stalinist opportunist fashion has now agreed to the fraudulent U.S. claim of “economic collapse of the USSR� in order to try to guarantee peace with U.S.-led world imperialism now that the Soviet Workers’ State has largely been dismantled. For example, Peter Lavelle and others on on Russia Today TV, while he presents the Russian response to world events, which correctly always seeks to avert confrontation, never loses an opportunity to repeat the Big Lie about the supposed “Soviet Collapse.� But now “Russia� finds how fast that “peace� has disappeared with the U.S. breaking virtually all of the U.S.-Soviet Peace Treaties of the 1990’s starting with the cornerstone of the agreements with the Soviet Union, the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty of 1972, which Bush formally broke on June 13, 2002 thus forcing the Russian Federation to withdraw from Start II, which banned the use of MIRV on ICBMs. NATO ships now fill the Black Sea as a further provocation after the U.S./Georgian Invasion/Provocation of South Ossetia, which the U.S. indubitably is rearming. In addition the U.S. is directing their Ukraine puppet Viktor Yushchenko to push the provocation/demand that the Russian fleet abandon its main Sevastopol base in the Crimea inhabited by 70% Russians!! Lots of luck! The U.S. is also building air bases in Georgia, which it plans to use against Iran and other countries. Public opinion does not support either the U.S. or NATO in such adventures, which are bound to fail no matter how many provocations are carried out and Big Lies are told.

The false claim of “economic collapse of the Soviet Union� was fabricated by the United States in order to try to demoralize the masses of the world, and the United States especially, to the only solution to the complex of problems created by capitalism-imperialism. That solution is Socialism! Which can only be achieved through a Socialist Revolution in the United States, which itself can only be carried out peacefully as occurred in the October Russian Revolution of 1917. Mikhail Gorbachev’s Op-Ed column in the New York Times, August 20, 2008, was the typical Stalinist (Not Communist!) opportunist, anti-Communist response, which did not explain the clever U.S. strategy of provocation primarily in order to create ethnic division in the Caucuses designed to last for generations and that Russia was forced to respond to these provocations.

In his surrender to the United States in 1988 Gorbachev carried out some rather heinous acts of murder of prominent Soviet representatives and “stones in the shoe� of the capitalists. For example, Gorbachev undoubtedly had the Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei Gromyko murdered in July 1989 because it would be inconceivable that Gromyko could espouse the surrender terms that Gorbachev had agreed to. Gromyko was thus seen as a potential troublemaker in the planned Soviet surrender. A living Gromyko would be more respected than a live Gorbachev. The U.S. and the USSR had also previously agreed to the murder of NAZI Rudolph Hess in preparation for the rather long-planned Soviet Surrender. (Remember even before he took power on March 12, 1985 British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s December 1984’s highly publicized statement: “We can do business with Mr. Gorbachev.�) Hess was 93 years old and imprisoned in Spandau Prison in Germany and simply refused to die a natural death. Hess was a continuing symbol of the NAZIs and the need for a continuing Soviet presence in Eastern Europe and thus an obstacle to the planned Soviet surrender. An extremely frail Hess, who needed help in tying his shoes by a male nurse, was murdered by wrapping an electric cord around his neck and choking him to death. The media trumpeted “suicide, when he had never ever attempted “suicide� previously, despite media “Big Lie� claims to the contrary. And the prolific Hess left no suicide note and was moreover physically totally feeble and completely unable to choke himself to death according to testimony by relatives! See extensive coverage in the New York Times on and after August 17, 2008. In addition, Gorbachev also gave the order for the murder of Kim Philby in May 1988, a Soviet Agent who had led the Russian division of British Intelligence (!) for decades and had escaped to the USSR in 1963 just in the nick of time to prevent his capture. In 1965 Kim Philby was awarded the Order of the Red Banner, one of the highest Soviet awards, and was made a General in the KGB. Another “stone in the shoe� of the capitalists who had to be removed! With these people dead no one could ask their opinions on the Gorbachev surrender. Others who had defected to the Soviet Union were also murdered to “clear the slate� for the coming Soviet Surrender.

Gorbachev’s own wife considered him to be a traitor and was estranged from him after Gorbachev carried out the provocation he used to discredit the Soviet leadership, many of whom were previously their respected and personal friends, but who were not allied to him in his surrender to the United States and had to be eliminated. On August 4, 1991with great fanfare the hugely unpopular Gorbachev took a vacation to the Crimea and behind the scenes encouraged so-called “Gang of Eight,� some of whom accompanied him to the Crimea (!) to stage what was described later as a “coup,� but unknown to them Gorbachev cut all their lines of communication and chain of command. Gorbachev controlled the media completely, NOT the other way around as officially portrayed, thus setting this “Communist� opposition up to be discredited and removed officially from all top government posts. Boris Yeltsin, an expert demagogue, was appointed beforehand by Gorbachev to move into the gap while Gorbachev was supposedly being “imprisoned in the Crimea.� Yeltsin was new and did not share Gorbachev’s mantle of unpopularity in the Soviet Union and the crowds were peppered with shills to scream his name, which the world capitalist media reported with glee. The media showed Yeltsin “heroically� denouncing the “coup� from the top of a tank. Gorbachev himself directed the so-called “Gang of Eight� to set up a plan of measures that supposedly could be taken in case a state of emergency!

Deputy USSR Defense Minister General Valentin Varennikov stated that Gorbachev himself had supported the coup and was behind all eight and had told the group: "Do what you think is needed, damn you!" to restore order and declare a state of emergency. Gorbachev knew these individuals opposed him and gave them the rope to hang themselves. The official name for the group was the State Committee on the State of Emergency (GKChP), and was headed by Vice President Gennadii Yanayev. Others included KGB head Vladimir Kryuchkov, Soviet Prime Minister Valentin Pavlov, and Defense Minister Dmitry Yazov, the USSR Internal Affairs Minister, Boris Pugo, deputy Chief of the USSR Defense Council Oleg Baklanov, Vasily Starodubtsev, chairman of the USSR Peasant Union and Alexander Tizyakov, president of the Association of the State Enterprises and Conglomerates of Industry, Transport, and Communications.. This group was almost immediately dismissed from their offices by Gorbachev after the coup began and he returned to Moscow with some of those very members (!), who were then all arrested. Pugo and his wife supposedly committed suicide but the reported circumstances at the time indicate it was murder. A highly publicized and staged attack on the Soviet Parliament, the so-called “White House,� which had to be put down militarily, was then carried out as yet another provocation to send the message of intimidation to the Communist Party members of Parliament and masses (who hated Gorbachev and what was happening under his leadership) that the military supported the Gorbachev/Yeltsin leadership. Later Gorbachev resigned officially and the Soviet surrender was consolidated under Yeltsin who liquidated the USSR officially on December 8, 1991, when the USSR, Belarus and the Ukraine signed the Belovezh Agreement, dissolving the Soviet Union and establishing a Commonwealth of Independent States.

In his August 20th New York Times Op-Ed Gorbachev also lied through omission by omitting the obvious long-range U.S. objectives of the U.S./Georgian Invasion/Provocation of South Ossetia. Putin and Medvedev to their credit eventually exposed these objectives although only secondarily and without appropriate focus and emphasis! By honestly explaining these provocations Russia would be able to explain how the U.S. intends to manipulate public opinion. This way the public in all countries would be on guard not to allow itself to be manipulated by the country which lied about “Weapons of Mass Destruction� in Iraq and which lies about everything. This should be a no-brainer but Stalinist opportunism blocks the mind.

United States Hopes To Try Another Full Court Press
Like in the 1980’s and Force A Second Russian Surrender!

On August 14, 2008 the U.S. signed an agreement to build a so-called “missile defense� system in Poland which includes missile interceptors. Russia has promised a “military response� if the missiles are installed in Poland. This sounds like Russia would take the missile installation(s) out in an air strike similar to the U.S./�Israel� bombing of the Osirak Reactor in Iraq in 1981 and the planned bombing of Iran, etc., etc. etc. Obviously the number of missiles in Poland will begin to increase exponentially as the U.S. orchestrates provocation after provocation on the border of Russia similar to the U.S./Georgian invasion of South Ossetia. This so-called “missile defense� is actually part of a Nuclear First Strike plan, which is actually a strategy of intimidation by the United States as was explained back in the 1980’s when the U.S. put a full court press on the USSR with a runaway nuclear arms race and “Star Wars� forcing the Soviet surrender by Gorbachev in 1988. Today the United States and NATO want to force the former Soviet Union into a second surrender as explained above! In an actual First Strike by the United States and the NATO PACT the so-called “Missile Defenses� are used simultaneously with a U.S. Nuclear First Strike in order to try to cripple the Russian response to the U.S. First Strike. The U.S. is hoping that they will win the game of “chicken� like they did in the 1980’s and that the Russians will back down and make a second surrender as they did in 1988. This is the present strategic centerpiece of U.S. “statecraft� with Russia.

Today ninety-five percent of New Yorkers agree that we need a new system based on human need not private profit. A Socialist Revolution in the United States will end the basis for all war and set the stage for solving the entire complex of problems created by capitalism, which threaten the survival of humankind. Capitalism cannot be reformed through elections or by any other means because the capitalist dictatorship is left in place and because capitalism has an internal dynamic of its own which leads to a constantly hardening capitalist dictatorship finally to Fascism, barbarism and the end of civilization and all life on Earth, as we see with the Runaway Greenhouse Effect, which has already begun. Politicians rise to the surface to the extent that they express and further this almost entirely one-way dynamic. The “presidential elections� are the primary weapon of deception of the capitalists, which is used to try to perpetuate the illusion of “democracy� in what is a constantly hardening capitalist dictatorship. Under capitalism “democracy� is simply a euphemism for capitalist dictatorship and enslavement! If you vote for anyone in the U.S. Presidential “elections� you have been neutralized and are a sucker! No candidate is even just a little “better� than another because the differences prior to the election virtually all disappear after the election according to the needs of the capitalist dictatorship, which makes the actual decisions based on its’ dynamic, development sequence or dialectic, which has little to do with its own preservation, which in turn underscores the fact that the system controls the politicians—not the other way around. Today capitalism is in its Final Stage of Permanent War and State Terrorism.

The United States Invasion of Iraq is one more act of State Terrorism and has resulted in the deaths of 1.2 million Iraqis by September 2007, one year ago, according to National Public Radio. Now the number is probably more than 1.5 million dead Iraqis. We are told to feel sorry for a few more than 4000 dead US mercenary murderers and cutthroats, the majority who come back with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from being forced to murder Iraqis. Capitalism offers a world with no future! Remember that in the end all wars are won and lost on morale and every movement begins with the call. Do not be intimidated! The first call must be to deprive the capitalists of bodies of armed men to send against the masses, by calling for the only political position with successful historical precedent: Call for Mutiny in Iraq as in Vietnam, the real reason and the ONLY reason the Vietnam War ended on the spot in 1975 after the Third Marine Division turned their guns around on their officers forcing the immediate and total evacuation of all U.S. troops in days and hours. Normally, when the U.S. invades a county they never leave. The U.S. has a military presence in over 130 countries right now and is now invading Pakistan and threatening to use their proxy state of so-called “Israel� to bomb Iran. The U.S. capitalist dictatorship used its proxy state of Georgia to invade the former USSR (South Ossetia) and is right now using their Fascist proxies to fight the governments of Bolivia (Evo Morales) and Venezuela (Hugo Chavez)!

The capitalist demagogues/stooges Obama, Clinton, McCain, etc. all call for “Phased Redeployment,� which means in practice simply transferring some forces from Iraq to Afghanistan (Obama, e.g.) or elsewhere and leaving a puppet government in place in Iraq. Bush has just initiated the beginning of this policy just prior to the sham U.S. “election.� But Mutiny Saves Lives! Mutiny is provided for by the Declaration of Independence which is actually a transitional document which supports a Socialist Revolution in the United States! We should all read that document now! It provides the legal basis for a Socialist Revolution in the United States although a legal basis is certainly not required to end a system fundamentally based on war, mass murder and crime! In addition to employing a mercenary army rather than a conscripted army the capitalists have tried to take precautions to try to prevent the reoccurrence of another Mutiny in Iraq as in Vietnam! Blackwater USA, Custer Battles, Dyncorp, etc and all 45,000 armed military contractors are paid 4 times what the regular U.S. mercenary marauder/cutthroat forces are paid in order to induce loyalty to the officer corps and are a NAZI-like SS (Schutzstaffel) formation which is in Iraq for one purpose only—to protect the Officer Corps in the event of another Mutiny—NOT to protect “diplomats,� the phony cover story foisted on an unsuspecting public. The U.S. created a mercenary army to replace the previous enlisted army used in Vietnam as the yet another tactic to try and prevent reoccurrence of mutiny. Therefore the present U.S. military mercenary army must get its act together, realize that their interests as well as the interests of all humankind are violated by the invasions of Iraq, etc. They will have to turn their guns around on their officers who must all be immediately arrested, unless they join and support the Mutiny, and then they must fight and decisively defeat Blackwater and the other 45,000 military contractors, which they can easily do if they organize themselves to do it, because the regular army is much larger and has heavier weapons. The key is organization, which is already in place. This will open the door to all further social progress and is the first step in ending the War Against Iraq and carrying out a Socialist Revolution in the United States and worldwide.

Patriotism is a capitalist gimmick, a deception to divide up the International Working Class against itself—once more—divide and conquer! Don’t be fooled! Remember that this is NOT our country! It is the capitalists’ country. We just live here! Only a Socialist Revolution in the United States can establish real democracy and freedom and make it our country! Under capitalism “democracy� is just a euphemism for capitalist dictatorship and enslavement and “freedom� is merely a euphemism for the capitalists freedom to exploit and super-exploit. That is the fundamental basis of “globalism� where the worlds’ capitalists compete worldwide for the lowest wage for workers! Once capitalism is overthrown at its center there will be no more center of world capitalism to act as a threat and the hard dictatorship of the Workers’ States will not be necessary and the basis for genuine democracy and a permanent end to class society will finally be established. We have to end the dictatorship of billionaires and millionaires and establish a new system based on human need where everyone can live like a millionaire. Today, in the United States there is enough money, enough wealth for that to be a reality in practice. Today, capitalism-imperialism has created the greatest economic disparity in all human history. This is due to the dynamic of capitalism based on exponentially increasing capital accumulation by the insignificant minority of capitalists and also has to do with the fact that the capitalist dictatorship knows that a Socialist Revolution is much less likely to occur if the masses are continuously kept on the edge of economic collapse and are encouraged to falsely believe that they must first look out for number one! The reality is that approach only perpetuates the capitalist dictatorship and is completely opposed to each individual’s self-interest and in final analysis is actually part of the capitalists’ strategy of divide and conquer. That is why the Call for Mutiny in Iraq must come from the United States!

Today, given the choice, the overwhelming majority of Americans agree with the statement: “We need a new system based on human need not private profit!� And given the choice the overwhelming majority also agree that “we need a Socialist Revolution in the United States!� These are both Communist responses! The U.S. population is therefore not “a little to the right of center� or even “a little to the left of center� as falsely portrayed by the U.S. media, but is receptive right now to a Socialist Revolution here in the United States. This means that at some level and actually at many levels the masses recognize that capitalism offers a world with no future! People understand at some level the emergency that exists. The reason that a Socialist Revolution has not occurred yet is because of the present correlation of class forces in the United States where the capitalist dictatorship is still able to maintain its dominance over its own masses at the center of world capitalism-imperialism. The capitalists rule through a combination of force and deception. At this point where capitalism has entered its final stage of Permanent War and State Terrorism and its class dictatorship is hardening by the day and growing more nakedly oppressive domestically and internationally the capitalists are depending once again on their Primary Weapon of Deception—the Presidential “Elections� process (see further below), which their accelerating loss of credibility forced them to initiate nearly a year earlier this time in order to try to divert the attention of the masses from actually even considering the possibility of a new system based on human need not private profit: “Look, look, look here are your new candidates—aren’t you happy and hopeful just thinking about them?� The capitalists’ objective is obviously to try to re-instill false “hope� in capitalism. Barack Obama’s disingenuous book: “The Audacity of Hope,� published in October 2006 is another indication that he has for many years been groomed for a presidential run, parrots and refurbishes Jesse Jackson’s deceptive slogan—“Keep Hope (in capitalism!) Alive,� which in turn was lifted from the fraudulent capitalist history: “Tragedy and Hope� by Carroll Quigley, a professional liar from the (CIA) Georgetown University center, which was once required reading for capitalist politicians and aspiring demagogues and counter-insurgents.

Every four years the capitalists pull another rabbit out of their hat as they stage their sham “elections� in order to continue to try to perpetuate the illusion of “democracy� in what is actually a hardening capitalist dictatorship, in order to string the masses along and try to coax and cajole them to agree more easily to their own oppression and genuine misery and poverty with such false promises of “Change We Can Believe In,� “Judgment to Lead� and “Solutions for America�, etc. etc. From the Working Class viewpoint a demagogue is defined as a false leader who pretends to represent the wishes and aspirations of the masses but actually represents the interests of the capitalist class. All of the candidates in elections held by the capitalist class represent the interests of the capitalist class because they try to deceive the masses to believe that capitalism can reform itself when scientific analysis and history reveals that to be completely impossible at this end stage in this final stage of capitalist development!

The capitalists’ present objective is to use the what they hope will be the increased credibility of an Obama Presidency to ram through the most oppressive measures possible against the masses domestically and of course to continue the “War on Terror,� the pretext for the final stage of capitalism-imperialism: Permanent War and State Terrorism. With the outcome of a victory by the Democrats completely assured in the 2008 “elections,� the capitalists do not actually care who wins between Obama and Hillary Clinton—whoever has the greatest ability to fool the masses is who they want, despite the fact that the Clintons have controlled the Democratic Party leadership since 1992! In their desperation and frustration and anger at the Bush Regime the supporters of these new stooges/demagogues, Obama and Hillary Clinton, etc. usually do not look closely at what the candidates actually say about the War in Iraq, the Global Warming (which data now show has entered the stage of a Runaway Greenhouse Effect) or any other issue. For example, all candidates support continuation of the War in Iraq, installation of the U.S. puppet “Iraqi� government and leaving a large number of troops in Iraq indefinitely through “phased withdrawal� rather than a total evacuation as occurred in Vietnam due to the 1975 mutiny! It is not only the youth, but all those who see no future in the present course, who recognize at some level that capitalism offers a world with no future and who actually do want a new system based on human need, who in their desperation, frustration and anger end up being forced to put their faith in one or another of these capitalist demagogues because there seems to be no other choice. The masses are presented with no alternative but to participate in the sham, staged U.S. presidential elections where the outcome has largely been decided in advance and has been ever since Watergate. Most people think that it is the only game in town. Not true, as we shall see!

The Legal Basis To Abolish Capitalism Exists and is Compelling!

Although it is not actually necessary let us examine the legal basis for the alternative to capitalism, although that is not actually a requirement to carry out a Socialist Revolution in the United States: First of all, there is no founding document which enshrines capitalism as the permanent economic-political-social system for the United States! On the contrary, the primary founding document of the United States, The Declaration of Independence written by Thomas Jefferson and signed by all of the so-called “founding fathers� is actually a transitional document which provides for and authorizes a Socialist Revolution in the United States. A Socialist Revolution in the United States is the only prudent and appropriate response to the domestic and international tyranny, oppression and threat to human civilization and indeed all life on Earth, which the United States Capitalist Class Dictatorship today subjects the entire world! (And which will not change one iota under an Obama or Clinton regime!) All the so-called “founding fathers� signed this document, which states: “Whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of (the unalienable Rights of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness) it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundations on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness� and “...when a long train of abuses and usurpations pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government and to provide new Guards for their future security.� In no way could this language possibly be interpreted to mean to simply hold new “elections� under capitalism—as falsely claimed by political police agent provocateur Ralph Nader, when it is clear that the problems have all been created by the capitalist system itself. “Alter� in this instance does mean first to try to reform capitalism, which is tried with each new capitalist election, but the one-way dynamic of capitalism (see below) combined with the absence of the Soviet Union as a counter-force, the effectiveness of which was weakening even prior to the 1988 Soviet surrender (see below) makes that now impossible as history has demonstrated. (“Reform� when used by the capitalists themselves is a euphemism, which invariably means escalating their war against the Working Class, middle-income earners and the Poor. “Form of Government� in this context refers to the class structure of the state, not to electing different capitalist politicians. The document calls for laying new foundation and principles, which in today’s context means to organize a new type of state and society on a different basis of class ownership based on ownership and control by the Working Class, which is the only possible means to actually achieve the unalienable rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness guaranteed by the Declaration of Independence. Abolishing the capitalist dictatorship is the only correct approach and that is what the Declaration of Independence demands once certain conditions have been met. Those conditions have been met.

Ralph Nader, who has also entered the 2008 “race,� is in his actions 100% aligned with the capitalist dictatorship (see below), and lies through his teeth and makes specious argument when he falsely claims: “Thomas Jefferson believed that when you lose your government, you've got to go into the electoral arena. A Jeffersonian revolution (!) is needed in this country. All we can do is try to loosen it up, challenge it, bring it to account in some court cases and build for the future. We can also keep an exciting, practical, progressive agenda before the American people — get more people to run for local, state and national office." Emphasis added. Jefferson never said any such thing! Nader falsely and absurdly claims that a presidential election is a “Jeffersonian Revolution.� It is very clear by these statements that Nader’s objective is to use the deception of the presidential “elections� try to keep dissenters within the framework of the capitalist dictatorship. Elections are held every 4 years in any case so Jefferson and his founding father co-signers were certainly not speaking about elections.

The basic question of every revolution is that of state power. The state is nothing more than a machine for suppressing one class by another. Unless this question is thoroughly understood there can be no intelligent participation in the revolution, not to speak of guidance of the revolution. Although the capitalist regime today is composed largely of Fascists and proto-Fascists we do not yet have Fascism in the United States. We have Rule By Decree, technically known as Bonapartism, in the form of a bureaucratic-military police state. This is further explained below. What is most important to understand is that capitalism is a class dictatorship based on the fact that the capitalists own the means of production, the factories, the land, the banks, the military, the media (a privatized arm of the U.S. government’s so-called “intelligence community�), the educational system, where the state begins the brainwash of the youth. Children who become the brainwashed adults are forced to pledge allegiance to the rapidly hardening capitalist dictatorship, which is falsely labeled “a democracy,� a Big Lie constantly repeated everywhere by the capitalist dictatorship. The youth are limited in their instruction to blindly memorize and regurgitate “facts�—many of which are lies, but to receive little to no instruction in inductive reasoning and dialectical thinking, which is absolutely required to understand the meaning and significance of the “facts� which they learn, to debate their truthfulness and most importantly to help organize the masses in their own self-interest to carry out a Socialist Revolution in the United States. The capitalists’ objective is to try to ensure that the masses remain forever as children and to later be ready to fanatically fight and die in war for the capitalists’ interests only—never their own interests! A Socialist Revolution will abolish the basis for all wars.

Finally, the capitalists own and operate the entire political process with their 2 parties, parties which of course represent only capitalist interests. Even under a parliamentary system such as in France, Italy or England the capitalists run all of the parties including those that falsely claim to be “Communist� and “Socialist� and largely orchestrate all outcomes of the elections. For example, in the most recent French “election� Segolene Royal and the Socialist Party deliberately self-sabotaged the election in order to enable the election of the Fascist Nicolas Sarkozy in order to spearhead the capitalists’ objective to reduce and ultimately remove the social programs and public education in France, and the Socialist Party was rewarded for its treachery with multiple portfolios in the Sarkozy government! In addition, all of the U.S. presidential “election� outcomes are rigged in advance, and have been ever since Watergate. (See further below.) When the manipulated outcome sought by the capitalists has not occurred as in the 2000 and 2004 “elections,� where the masses nevertheless elected the Democrat Al Gore and the Democrat John Kerry despite deliberate self-sabotage by those candidates and media sabotage of their campaigns (see below), the election results were simply overthrown completely in what is a continuing coup d’etat in the United States. George Bush is therefore not “the president.� Bush is a usurper. The coup d’etat of 2000-2004 represents a total breakdown in the capitalists’ illusion of “democracy� and will not change with the 2008 “election� of Obama. The entire sham “election process� is carried out in order to generate high interest to make it seem to be “a real nail biter,� “a real horse race,� “a real cliff-hanger� in order to bamboozle, hornswoggle, hoodwink, flim-flam and deceive the masses in every conceivable way into falsely thinking that the outcome will change their lives in any appreciable way. It will not! The reality is that the masses have no horse in this race! It is a fact that no candidate for president even offers or suggests or even mentions a new system based on human need not private profit, which the majority of Americans, when given that choice say they want! The capitalist “elections� exist precisely to try to prevent that choice from ever becoming a reality! All candidates offer only a continuation of the capitalist dictatorship. For Obama and McCain, etc. all issues actually reduce to a single question: how best to preserve capitalism-imperialism. That is the reality! At an earlier point in history capitalism created a revolutionary break with feudalism and introduced great advancement in production. But today capitalism in its final end stage has proved to have no viable future and now threatens all life on Earth. We need a new system based on human need not private profit simply in order to survive. Even the capitalists have no future under capitalism! And many capitalists are acutely aware of this fact!

The survival of civilization as we will see below, therefore depends on carrying out a Socialist Revolution here in the United States, which will then follow automatically, almost simultaneously worldwide because there will be no more center of world capitalism-imperialism. (See toward the conclusion of this Analysis and Theses—The Dialectical and Historical World View.) The wisest course of action for the masses is to totally abandon all voting in the presidential and congressional “elections� while putting their energy instead into actually calling for and organizing a new system based on human need not private profit. It is absolutely crucial to reject completely the capitalists’ Primary Weapon of Deception—their Presidential “Elections.� Voting means that you have been neutralized by the capitalist dictatorship and still are entertaining the notion, or are willing at some level to “hope� that capitalism can be reformed, which is simply not possible. Capitalism can never be turned into a system based on human need! Private profit and human need are mutually exclusive. As explained below humankind simply does not have the time for any more games of “hope� in capitalism.

The capitalist dictatorship in the United States is hardening by the day, which is obvious to even the casual observer. This is due to the natural dynamic or development sequence of capitalism, a dialectic which is largely independent of the wills of the individual capitalists and the capitalist politicians themselves. The politicians who rise to the top in the hardening capitalist dictatorship are those who express and further this one-way dynamic! That includes Obama. And obviously this applies to the openly Fascist Republicans. The capitalists can not change that reality! That’s why “elections� under capitalism cannot change anything no matter how they are carried out. This dynamic leads to a constantly hardening capitalist class dictatorship finally to Fascism, which is defined as the hard dictatorship of capitalism. See below. As mentioned there is no genuine “democracy� under capitalism—not even for the capitalists themselves.

Not since the 1960 election where Kennedy bought a few more votes than Nixon have there been 2 separate capitalist factions! Neither faction then represented the interests of the Working Class! The same is true today! After 1960 all elections were settled by assassinations and gunplay until Nixon, the organizer and implementer of the new-style government by assassination, was removed bloodlessly through the Watergate scandal by Nelson Rockefeller—not a second in line at the FBI (Mark Felt)—who merely carried those messages to the Washington Post which were authorized by Nelson Rockefeller in 1974. (See below.) Nelson Rockefeller simply felt under threat himself from Nixon once a Rockefeller ally. Rockefeller and Rockefeller ally Henry Kissinger together were the so-called “deep throat.� Another topic which is analyzed in depth following the discussion of the main topics, is the Big Lie of a supposed “collapse of the Soviet Union.� That Big Lie is used to demoralize the masses against the only solution to the complex of problems created by capitalism-imperialism and was refuted even by the Central Intelligence Agency, on network television news in 1990 and 1991 who stated that the CIA had no data or factual basis to support the claim of a “Soviet economic collapse.� That is because there was no “Soviet economic collapse� and CIA indignantly did not want to lend itself to acting merely as a propaganda outfit as Bush tried to do prior to the U.S. Invasion of Iraq. Briefly, the USSR simply backed down from the Reagan era “full court press� of a stepped-up nuclear arms race during the 1980’s where the capitalists launched their First Strike Star Wars program and placed First Strike Pershing II Nuclear missiles in Germany 10 minutes from Moscow! This escalated the situation to Launch on Warning. Mutally Assured Destruction became imminent. It was that situation alone which caused the Soviet surrender in 1989 and subsequent dismantlement of that Workers’ State, but which has left the former Soviet power structure intact. (See further below.)

Remember that U.S. patriotism-chauvinism-jingoism means being willing to die or being willing to tell others to die for the capitalist warmongers and exploiters and super-exploiters. Never fall for it! As a first step we should never ever be sucked into saying “we� or “our� in referring to United States policy or actions! That opportunistic choice of words deceives the speaker into thinking that his or her interests coincide with the interests of the capitalist dictatorship and is wrong in the first place because the United States is not “our country.� It is the capitalists’ country! In addition, such an opportunistic choice of words immediately implicates the speaker in the crimes of U.S. capitalism-imperialism against the entire world and against its own citizens. Nobody should lose sight of that fact for one moment! Under capitalism the word “democracy� is simply a euphemism for capitalist dictatorship and enslavement. “Freedom� under capitalism simply means the freedom to exploit and oppress. Only after class society is abolished through a Socialist Revolution in the United States can there be genuine democracy for the Working Class and everyone else. The capitalists have divided their domestic population on multiple bases and intimidated and brainwashed the masses to fear Socialism, despite the fact that the 1917 Russian Revolution and World Communist Movement in the 1930’s is responsible for all of the social programs which still exist in the United States (see further below). Up to now the capitalists have been able to inoculate and intimidate people against the only solution to their problems. The capitalists have also infantilized the masses using various means including Disneyland, Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, Alice in Wonderland, etc. Political cartoons also rely on cynicism—a capitalist philosophy of submission, resignation, acquiescence, despair and defeat. Cynicism is also promulgated by the capitalists’ political comedians wherever possible (see below). The result is that the masses are more likely to see themselves as children feeling hopeless, resigned to that fact, and constantly look up to the capitalist politicians as “the adults.� Nixon and others have openly referred to the masses as “the children.� But the capitalists’ deceptions now wear thin as the masses begin to sense the gravity of the present situation.

Despite the capitalist brainwash the overwhelming majority of Americans nevertheless now support the “need for a new system based on human need not private profit!� Even within the capitalist state bureaucratic apparatus itself when given that choice the majority support the call for a new system based on human need not private profit! The material presented herein is intended as an aid to help progressive people consciously deprogram themselves from the capitalist brainwash which targets the masses every day from every direction and to provide a genuine basis to organize the Socialist Revolution in the United States. This is the wisest course of action and it is both possible and necessary. Do not be demoralized! Remember the morale of the capitalist state apparatus, which includes the army, police and bureaucracy, has never ever been lower. That is bad for the capitalists but very good for the masses! In the final analysis all wars are won and lost on morale, not force or force theory as the U.S. discovered once before in Vietnam! And every movement starts with the call! The precise steps to organizing a Socialist Revolution in the United States as explained below must be learned and widely taught and will help organize the depth of leadership required to achieve a Socialist Revolution in the United States. Where do we start.

The Capitalists Rule Through a Combination of Force and Deception!

Because of the Mutiny of U.S. armed forces in Vietnam in 1975 the U.S. has switched to an army of mercenary mass murderers, which includes regular low-paid GI marauders and cutthroats plus a group 45,000 armed “private contractors� of super highly paid Special elite Fascist killers such as Blackwater USA (leader photographed by major media openly giving the Hitler salute!), Dyncorp International, Custer Battles, Aegis, Zapata, Triple Canopy, etc., which are directly analogous to the NAZI SS (Schutz Staffel), for the personal protection of the U.S. high military command and officer corp. These very highly paid heavily armed military contractors are not in Iraq in order “to protect diplomats� despite the fact that the U.S. has built the largest embassy in the entire world in Baghdad! The protection of diplomats has always been carried out by the regular military. This highly paid organized group of psychopaths are In Iraq for one reason only—to protect the officer corps in event of mutiny! There were no super-highly paid military contractors in Vietnam! Only after the mutiny in Vietnam was such a security force deemed necessary for Iraq, which is another Vietnam! The overall number of private contractors in Iraq, which includes the 45,000 armed NAZI SS Blackwater USA, etc., numbers about 183,000 according to the Associated Press, September 19, 2007, more than the regular U.S. troops (168,000). In this situation the U.S. strategy of using very highly paid private contractors in order to buy their loyalty ultimately cannot prevent a mutiny, but it does complicate it. The regular army must defeat these NAZI-style SS private contractors militarily while turning their weapons on their officers and taking them all prisoner along with these NAZI-style SS forces. The regular army has much heavier weapons and more men under arms so this is certainly not an impossible task.

After the Mutiny in Iraq and in the U.S., which must include all National Guard units and police forces, the masses will be able to begin to set up a government of Dual Power in the United States consisting of a nationwide network of Workers’, Soldiers and Community Councils which are directly counterposed to the capitalist dictatorship. The success of the Socialist Revolution in all other developed countries is guaranteed after capitalism is abolished in the United States, but if necessary, we will provide every assistance in any pockets of crazed resistance. The Socialist Revolution in the United States and the actual taking of state power will take place relatively bloodlessly, and can only take place relatively bloodlessly because the masses must support it. Only after Mutiny in the armed forces and after winning the support through patient explanation of at least 70% of the U.S. Working Class and their allies just as occurred in Russia in October 1917—where only about 220-240 people died in the actual taking of state power starting on October 25th and the days that followed—will it be possible to actually take state power. It should be noted that it was only afterward when the Imperialists invaded the Soviet Union 4 months after the October Revolution and after all those 14 invading imperialist armies on 19 different fronts mutineed and the capitalists’ subsequently decided to back the “White Army� organized by the former Czarists and the Provisional Government of Kerensky, the fake-left “Socialist Revolutionary,� in the Civil War that millions died. When the Socialist Revolution takes place in the United States there will be no civil war and no more central support for capitalism-imperialism anywhere on Earth. A Socialist Revolution is not a coup d’etat and must be supported by the masses won over to the Socialist Revolution through patient explanation, which can only occur if genuine free speech, as described above, exists.

Once the Socialist Revolution has been consolidated, the capitalists have been expropriated and class society has been abolished worldwide, the primary function of the state as a class dictatorship to suppress one class by another disappears and the state as such begins to wither away, its bureaucratic apparatus smashed and the functions of the new government apparatus taken over by the very same workers and other employees, against whose transformation into another legion of bureaucrats preventative measures will be taken, namely: 1.) Direct Election, 2.) Recall at any time and 3.) Payment no higher than the union wage scale, a wage which will be considerable. But before that process of the withering away of the state can be entirely completed the reality is that because the capitalists have created such a range of problems that immediately confront the very survival of the human race the Socialist States of the entire world will have to work together very closely to undo the damage which has been done, for example, the Runaway Greenhouse Effect, which has now begun. (See below.) Only a Socialist Revolution will permanently end the capitalist tyranny by an insignificant minority of millionaires and billionaires by expropriating all of the capitalists’ wealth and will actually make it possible for everyone to live like a millionaire with a secure future. There is more than sufficient wealth to achieve this. Remember that all of the capitalists’ wealth was originally expropriated and stolen from the labor—the Surplus Value from the goods and services created and generated from the labor of the Working Class. The greatest surplus value has been created from the exploitation and super-exploitation of the work of People of Color. That is the basis of racism.

Racism Is An Integral Part of Capitalism and
Therefore Cannot Be Abolished under Capitalism!

Only a Socialist Revolution in the United States can abolish racism because racism is an integral part of capitalism. Racism is defined as that systematized set of false beliefs in the racial inferiority of Blacks and other People of Color as a false pretext to justify the exploitation and super-exploitation of Blacks and other People of Color. Racism is thus simply a brainwash used to justify economic exploitation and super-exploitation, which began with slavery and exists now as wage slavery. This truth is also covered up by the fake “left.� Communists oppose exploitation and super-exploitation of U.S. born Workers employed in so-called “McJobs.� Communists also oppose super-exploitation of immigrants. Immigration is being used by the capitalists to drive down the wage-scale of U.S. Workers and fragment the U.S. Working Class. The Big Lie is that immigrants presently perform low-paying jobs supposedly because “Americans don’t want to do that sort of work.� The reality is that Americans would gladly perform any work presently performed by Latin American immigrants, for example, if they received a salary of $40,000 to $50,000.00 a year to do it! Low skilled immigrants are brought into the United States precisely because their “illegal� status forces the to agree to be super-exploited because that is better than what existed in their home countries! Despite this glaring reality Immigration can be and must be supported by simultaneously calling for the union wage scale and equal status for all Immigrants as well as all U.S. born workers! In order that no false illusions are raised by deceptive claims that capitalism can be reformed, equal focus must be placed simultaneously on the reality that such objectives of equality and freedom cannot be achieved under capitalism, but only after a Socialist Revolution in the United States, after which the main economic motivation for mass immigration of workers will largely disappear, because the Socialist Revolution will take place worldwide and with it exploitation and super-exploitation in all countries!

Only a Socialist Revolution will make it possible for life to continue on this planet as explained in the analysis of the Runaway Greenhouse Effect below. That is how serious and acute the situation actually is at this time! Capitalism offers a world with no future! After the Socialist Revolution all officials in the U.S. Socialist government, without exception, will be elected and subject to recall at any time and their salaries reduced to ordinary union worker’s wages, which along with the salaries of all workers will rise substantially enough to be quite sufficient to live like a millionaire in the Socialist system. That fact alone will demonstrate more clearly than anything else the permanent break from capitalist dictatorship to a genuine worker’s democracy, from the dictatorship of the oppressors to the democracy of the oppressed classes, from the state as a “special coercive force� for the suppression of the Working Class, the middle class and the Poor, by an insignificant minority, to the suppression of the oppressors by the general force of the majority, after which the state in the proper sense of the word begins to wither away as the functions of the state are taken over by the general population. See below. There will be an end to the present situation where phony elections are staged periodically to decide which mostly predetermined members of the capitalist class will repress and crush us through the “presidency� and congressional parliamentarism. After the capitalists have been completely expropriated and the Socialist Revolution has triumphed, a reconstituted Socialist Congress, which exclusively represents the interests of the Working Class and the continued survival of life on this planet will become the highest ruling body in the United States, a truly flexible Working-Class government. The final name for it would be decided at that time. Over time the functions of government will gradually be taken over by the people themselves.

Before that point in reached however, the Congress, which will be reconstituted with directly elected representatives of the masses from the Workers’ and Community Councils, will be transformed from the present talking shop given over to phrase mongering and resolutions for the special purpose of fooling the credulous masses in televised committees, speeches and fraudulent “debates,� where the real business of state is performed behind the scenes and is carried out by the general staffs in the White House, the National Security Agency, the Department of War (so-called “Defense�), and other departments of state and “think tanks� to a real working, not a parliamentary body, both executive and legislative at the same time. Remember that under capitalism all issues always reduce to a single question: how best to preserve capitalism-imperialism! There is no other permitted agenda! What does that mean in actual practice? There is a contradiction! The internal one-way dynamic of capitalism works at cross-purposes to the actual preservation of capitalism! The policies which are actually adopted at this stage of capitalism by the usurped executive, gerrymandered legislative and stacked judicial branches of the capitalist dictatorship do away with all previous checks and balances which, though minimal, had allowed capitalism to exist in balance up to the point of the Soviet surrender (see below). Removal of those checks and balances and most importantly the existence of the Soviet Union now allows the dialectic of capitalism to develop and be expressed in its hardest, most naked and unrestrained form. It should be understood that capitalist politicians rise to prominence only to the degree that they express and further the natural dynamic of the constantly hardening capitalist dictatorship, a dynamic which they cannot reverse. Therefore, have no illusions in demagogic frauds such as Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Edwards and even Kucinich all of whom support the continued dictatorship of capitalism-imperialism and exist only for the purposes of deceiving the masses and perpetuating the false illusion of supposed capitalist “democracy� and “capitalist reform� in what is actually a continually hardening capitalist dictatorship.

Under Socialism the U.S. Constitution, which has been largely abolished in practice by the parasite capitalist dictatorship, will be completely rewritten to encompass the reality of the abolition of the capitalist state and its replacement with Socialist ownership and organization of society on the basis of a network of Workers’ and Community Councils in every city, town and military garrison. Most of the Amendments to the present U.S. Constitution will be retained except those dealing with maintaining the capitalist state and its bureaucracy, which will be abolished totally, though many if not most of the personnel will help in the transition to a Socialist system. These measures, which involve the reorganization of the state and purely political reorganization of society, take on their full meaning and significance only in connection with the expropriation of the expropriators, i.e. with the transformation of capitalist private ownership of the means of production and land into true social ownership. With the achievement of the Socialist Revolution worldwide, which as mentioned will occur virtually simultaneously with the Socialist Revolution in the United States, the basis for all wars will cease because Socialism unlike capitalism is based fundamentally on human need, not war and mass murder and other crime, which is required to maintain a system based upon private profit.

Religion will not be suppressed in any way but religion will also not be supported in any way. All religious points of view will be heard equally as will the atheist and agnostic viewpoints. People will make their own decisions over time. Socialism is therefore the best economic-political-social system for all religions including Islam because there is no suppression of any religion and there is no attempt to pit one religion against another in divide and conquer scenarios as the capitalists are now doing in Iraq, Occupied Palestine, Lebanon and throughout the Middle East and worldwide, whenever and wherever possible. After the Socialist Revolution in the United States hundreds of $billions and $trillions spent on war will be freed up for human need. This cannot ever occur under capitalism which is fundamentally based on war and mass murder and crime! Socialist Revolution in the United States is thus the only practical means possible to achieve world peace. Today capitalism has moved into its final stage of Permanent War and State Terrorism justified through the pretext of a preposterously fraudulent and manipulated “War on Terrorism.� See below. This crucial point is entirely covered up by the capitalist-operated pacifist and fake “left� groups (See below), who deceive the masses with disingenuous and contrived “airtight� appearing appeals such as “Bring All the Troops Home,� “Stop the Funding of the War� and “Only the People Will Stop The War,� as opposed to the correct position: “Support the Only Position With Successful Historical Precedent—Call For Mutiny in Iraq as in Vietnam—the Real Reason the Vietnam War Ended in 1975!� Mutiny saves lives! See below on Slogans. Mutiny at an earlier date could have saved the lives of over 2 million Vietnamese and 58 thousand plus Americans! (This omits the 2 million Vietnamese murdered by the French imperialists.)

The capitalists campaign nonstop to try to instill fear in the masses against Socialism, and most people are genuinely concerned about what Socialism would look like after a Socialist Revolution in the United States and the abolition of capitalism-imperialism worldwide. A Socialist Revolution in the United States would not and could not end up like the Soviet Union because there would be no basis to continue a hard dictatorship after it had been consolidated. The Soviet Union and other Workers’ States have all been hard Working Class dictatorships, which was justified only in order to prevent both internal and external counter-revolutionary attempts to restore the capitalist dictatorship, a threat which existed due to the fact that the Workers’ States have existed in a world still threatened by capitalism. That threat would be eliminated permanently after the Socialist Revolution takes place here in the United States, the center of world capitalism-imperialism. (See further below for a more comprehensive analysis of the USSR.) The capitalists do not want such questions to even be discussed. The reality is that there are no downsides to Socialism! First of all, life on this planet would be able to survive! Almost all of the jobs will still be there too except some of the jobs involved in the military industrial complex, insurance companies and HMOs. The capitalist military industrial complex would be terminated immediately, while most of the jobs in that area would be transferred to projects more in line with human need not mass murder. Jobs in no longer necessary parasitic industries such as insurance, health management organizations (HMO’s), credit card companies and private real estate, would also be abolished along with the industries themselves. No more Donald Trumps! No more landlords! As part of the global economic-political-social system based on human need, with the exception of disability, there would be no unemployment permitted (of healthy normal people)—NOT the so-called “natural rate of unemployment� devised by capitalist economists such as Milton Friedman, or any version of it, which permits millions of people to be unemployed to benefit the capitalists! Most large corporations and businesses would not disappear. Far from it! The only difference will be is that all corporations will be owned and run entirely by the workers, but all executive and management positions will be based on elections within the corporation or company and all those elected would be subject to immediate recall. No one will be paid more than the wage of a union worker, just as government officials, and with the end of the huge military budgets and the expropriation of the expropriators, the union wage will rise to be more than sufficient to live like a millionaire. That would be the starting point.

Dislocation for any reason during or after the Socialist Revolution will be minimal because the popular support required for its success will allow a smooth and rapid transition! In addition, as mentioned there will be no more exploitation and super-exploitation by landlords, although a much-reduced rent will be paid to the Socialist State. Landlordism will be terminated. Society will finally be placed on a basis of human need. All sections of the economy which derive their profits from parasitizing the masses would be permanently eliminated. There would be no more insurance company parasites and no more need to buy insurance of any kind and no one would ever again be in debt! Today the average college graduate often starts life in debt to the tune of around $100,000.00 and sometimes over twice as much after a graduate degree, an amount which often can never be repaid during the person’s lifetime! That practice would be ended! It should be noted that all European countries have free education to the highest level—but only because of the 1917 Russian Revolution and the existence of the Soviet Union until its surrender to the threat of a nuclear war. See below. (Today the capitalist European countries are trying to reverse and abolish all of the social programs all of which have owed their existence to the Soviet Union.) After a Socialist Revolution in the United States there would be no more “Credit Card Scores� and “Credit Card Reports� by parasite credit card companies because those companies would cease to exist. And no more parasite HMO’s! Medical and Scientific research would be expanded, fully funded and put to use of human need not mass murder primarily as under capitalism! There would be an end to all economic warfare which capitalism wages against the masses carried out to try to impoverish them economically and to demoralize them politically and to reduce their number by bringing them to an earlier death through applied Social Darwinism. There would an end to homelessness, and all housing would be made livable. There would be entirely free education to the highest level obtainable for each person. There would be free medical and free dental treatment for everyone. There would be an end to the AIDS pandemic, which is documented to be Biowarfare by the U.S. government and other cooperating governments. A safe recombinant AIDS vaccine, which would be close to 100% effective would be promptly developed. (See further below for exact description.) Humankind would have its best chance to reverse the Runaway Greenhouse Effect, which the beginning of an exponential increase in atmospheric CO2 levels documents has already begun. (See further below.) The capitalists wage a continuous Big Lie campaign, just like they do on every other issue to brainwash the masses against Socialism. The question is fundamental: If you understand and agree that capitalism cannot be reformed, that we have reached a dead end, and that the problems which confront society and civilization cannot be solved under capitalism and that we need a new system now based on human need not private profit and you want to help organize and achieve a Socialist Revolution—not try to reform capitalism—then you qualify as a Communist. Those who are NOT Communist still falsely believe 1.) that capitalism-imperialism, through reform, can solve the complex of problems which has been created by capitalism and which now confronts the very survival of humanity, or 2.) they agree with the first statement that capitalism cannot be reformed, but are unwilling to do anything to help organize a Socialist Revolution. This latter defines the position of opportunism. Anti-Communism and opportunism will be carefully analyzed further below and exposed and dissected point by point in order to remove all confusion and obstacles which exist to organizing a Socialist Revolution in the United States. The significance of the 1917 Russian Revolution, the Soviet Workers’ State and the misleadership of Stalin, who was not in practice a Communist, are discussed more comprehensively further below. The key point regarding the USSR is that all gains which were achieved through the 1917 Russian Revolution and which existed in the Soviet Union right up until its surrender to the threat of a nuclear war in 1989 must be defended; these include full employment, no homelessness, free education to the highest level and free medical and dental. In New York City approximately 90% of the people this writer randomly approaches, most of whom are unknown to him, agree with the suggestion: “We need a Socialist Revolution in the United States!� or “We need a new system based on human need not private profit!� This is a straightforward Communist response, although these people would certainly not identify themselves as Communists because 1.) they have been brainwashed against the word and often do not understand what it actually means and 2.) they fear reprisals from the government which they know opposes Socialism and does everything possible to try to intimidate the masses in this regard. It is undeniable however that unorganized support for Socialism already exists in U.S. cities today! With proper organization these obstacles can be overcome. The economic-political-social conditions under capitalism have already created the support for Socialist Revolution in the United States. The U.S. population is most certainly not “a little to the right of center� or “a little left of center� as falsely often claimed by capitalist politicians and capitalist media, as a way to try to pressure the masses, to both intimidate them and to try to convince them to take a position against there own best interests. In the final analysis remember that all wars are won and lost on morale and every movement begins with the call!

Thanks for a sober assessment of the rock and the hard place we stand between. I, like you, am inclined to pass the bill. One thing to note, which you do not emphasize, is this: despite the disagreement among economists about what the correct course of action is, there is near unanimity that there is a huge problem in our financial infrastructure. The differences lie in how to best extricate ourselves from the current situation, and in predictions about what the effects of certain courses of actions will be. I have a clearer insight into why economics is the dismal science.

Well, you almost got it right. The bailout is a rip-off, and it doesn't take an economic expert to figure it out. It is exactly the big wet kiss another commenter described it as. But you have a point, we should have some economics experts other than the ones handpicked by this corrupt and incompetent (now there's an exacta!) administration. How about we hold a week of congressional hearings, with academics and professionals giving testimony and offering suggestions? Has to beat trusting the people who have been lying to us every day of this young century.

There is no amount of future earnings (which is what is being proposed we spend) that will stop this financial hurricane. And it's irresponsible to not inform people what is coming. The number one thing people should be focusing on is getting out of debt. Anyone that is highly leveraged (whether you are "rich" or poor), and isn't already part of the in crowd is going to get decimated. We've got a war of Deflation vs. Inflation (as in money/cash/assets, not prices), and Deflation is winning. Congress, Wall Street, The Fed, everyone that's invested in all the bubbles are all trying to inflate their way out of this. They've been doing it for over a year (how much of The Fed's balance sheet has been loaned out? 600B?) It has done NOTHING. This bailout will do NOTHING other than continue to try and punt the problem long enough for a few at the top to try and sell their crap off so they don't have to pay up. (Think of the card game, Old Maid -- everyone's been passing around the worthless paper, and none of the banks or foreign investors will take any more cards, because they know they're ALL holding multiple Old Maids.) So, they'll do ANOTHER bailout (how many is that this year... this month, this week?) to buy a little more time, but these bailouts are getting progressively bigger. All of this is to be paid by future earnings, of which there are going to be a lot less. Continuing to add debt to an overburdened consumer means that consumer becomes a debt slave, working the rest of the life to pay off the debt incurred by their parents/grandparents, unless they default on their debts (bankruptcy).

I haven't thought of an analogy yet that explains this in a way that people understand. There IS a crisis, but it's not something that just happened last week, or last month. It's like you've got gangrene in your hand, and the Bush Administration and some members of Congress are proposing you take some pain relievers to deal with it. And the longer you don't deal with it, the more the gangrene is going to grow. That's the crisis. And no one wants to have to make the decision to cut off their own hand. And you certainly don't want your doctor to tell you you have to cut off your hand (especially during an election year). So, knowing you don't want to hear the truth, your doctor is saying, "Here, take a vicodin, and we'll discuss next month whether we need to amputate part of your little pinky." Then he sends you home, the gangrene (or cancer or whatever) continues to spread and by the time you go back to the doctor, your whole arm is going to need to be amputated to stop the spreading of the disease.

This whole thing is just insane and absurd and scary as hell at times how ignorant (and deceitful) our nation as a whole is regarding it's financial situation.

Read Noubini's 12 steps (this is what is going to happen, and it's awful similar to what happened on the lead-up to the Great Depression, except we've have no savings, we're in greater debt, and we have no manufacturing base for future earnings).

From what she reports the Treasury tone was really a wink and a nod to all the supposed controls that Congress has. Instead of spending money slowly and under supervision Paulson can spend it very quickly and to stop him would take a 2/3 vote of congress!

Wow. First and only visit to this blog and its comment sections. Between the hilariously frightening spam of WHD2, and the numerous folk who look for the worst port in a storm - and cite the willfully ignorant "we don't have a manufacturing base" claim - this is very possibly one of the most intellectually depressing pages I've visited in a few weeks.

The bailout seems wrong on many levels, not the least of which is that taking a Bush Administration plan and fixing the most egregious errors in it is the definition of putting lipstick on a pig. If the government is to do something, it should be to act a solution of last resort, with serious consequences to the company that elects this solution so that they should make every effort to use other market-driven remedies for their problems.

A bailout in effect ruins the principle of free-market economics: that there are carrots for succeeding and penalties for failure. Failure is occurring and the instinct is to soften the blow. The learned response in the aftermath of a bailout is that when you fail, fail big and threaten to take everyone else with you. A good dose of pain needs to be felt in the aftermath of this meltdown, and it needs to be felt by the people and companies that were the engines of this economic demise. More lead parachutes and fewer golden ones. How else are economic leaders ever going to learn their lesson not to pull this crap off unless they feel the burn too when they put the nation's collective hand on the stove top to feel the fire of credit default swaps and their other BS "innovations."

But the proponents of the bailout have also been advocating doing so to preserve falling home prices. This "what goes up must stay up" theory of economics cannot succeed. Gravity won't let it. A correction in housing prices has to occur. A good portion of homes out there have been sold at hyper-inflated prices, without any intrinsic value to justify the asking price. Will some homeowners have to eat some of this phantom equity? Yes, but hopefully the nation will again look at homes as a place to live instead of thinking of them mostly as investments with cable TV or as ATM's that make phantom equity while they sleep and provide cash for simply doing nothing.

It's time for the nation to admit that there is no such thing as easy money, and to make money you have to actually do something. Money for nothing and chicks for free has been the motto of the US for a long time. Where is this generation's John Houseman touting how investment firms make money the old fashioned way -- by earning it.

There are plenty of countries you can move to, if you don't feel like paying for your country's financial excesses. Americans really don't have much trouble getting work permits in most places in the world. But many of those countries are also paying for the US's real-estate bubble. The Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg had to bail out Fortis yesterday.

Which is just another way of saying that the US's real-estate bubble, which drove the economy for the past 7 years, was built on the infusion of money from other countries. The bailout of the financial system is a partial payback of the money we've borrowed from the rest of the world to sustain our lifestyle. You can vote not to pay that money back, but don't be surprised if that stream of credit from the rest of the world then stops flowing, and you lose your job. That is your "full stake" in this, Mr. Red-blooded American.

However, the degree to which the Secretary still has arbitrary power over how much of a stake to take in any particular company is extremely disturbing. If Paulson's original plan had not required that he be given absolute carte blanche to do anything he wanted with no oversight from anyone, I might be comfortable trusting his judgment (he did take a big stake in AIG, so he is willing to inflict some blows on the finance industry), but given his absurd power grab, I can't see how he can be trusted.

I was intrigued about the "popularity" of the leading people involved in the proposed bailout bill so I did a face-off at my Word Face-Off blog: Paulson, Bernanle, Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Boehner, McConnell, Baucus... even Bush, Obama and McCain. The resulting trend graphs are very interesting.

I still say the Dems should have said, "OK, we'll bail out Wall Street along these lines, but we'll ALSO bail out Americans directly, in the same package."

They could have, and should have, included an array of stuff, including the "second stimulus" package, SCHIP expansion, and so forth. The Dems were in a perfect position to say, "OK, we'll go along with saving the credit markets, but our price is that we save the people too."

Not to mention that if the GOP ran against the bailout then, the Dems would be in a politically strong place.

I swear, sometimes it seems like the Dems think politics IS beanbag.

What ever the congress decide on this bail out package one thing is definite that the country is heading towards recession. It shows how the eight long years of bush administration's wrong policy has brought this country at the verge of total bankruptcy.
But at the same time there is an urgent need of unity and sincerity to tackle this urgent problem.
The coming election is also a test of our people; how wisely they are using their vote to give the future of the country in the hand of more wise and sincere person.

While everyone was distracted by this phony bailout plan, which helps no one but Wall Street executives, those slimeballs in Congress just passed a $612 billion “defense� budget, which has nothing to do with defense and everything to do with the unjust enrichment of defense contractors. Of course, there is no doubt that in return for passing this bailout bill to convert Wall Street losses (but of course not profits) to socialism the controllers of the Republican Party will forgo use of the filibuster and other parliamentary tactics to frustrate progressive legislation during Obama's first year. The theme of this discussion seems to center around the need to trust the experts, merely on the grounds that I am not an expert. And yet, as a layperson in the realm of economics, I have worried about this train-wreck-in-slow-motion for years now, while the experts continued to promote the mantra of buy, buy, and buy again.

We bought a house just over a year ago, fifteen months, to be exact; knowing that the bubble was on the verge of bursting, but likewise knowing that when that inevitable pop occurred, credit availability would most certainly go with it. Yes, we now live inside a house that's worth less than we owe on it, but we have no plans on selling in the future, and our finances are all in order.

Such cannot be said of the Republic.

But the greater query should be: Why trust the experts, when they could not say to us what we had been saying to ourselves for years? Where, pray tell, were the economists when Enron fell, exposing the massive fraud perpetrated by just the mere tip of the gargantuan iceberg?

Where were these self-delusional experts when a house worth $100,000 in 1996 suddenly became worth $250,000 in 2006, ignoring the danger signal of a real-estate-fueled economy with a real-estate inflation rate of 150% in a mere ten years?

None of them wants to be the little boy who cried out, "the Emperor has no clothes!" They all attended the evening money-market reports and the Sunday talk-shows, espousing the delirious need to drink from the well and believe that the economy, although a wee bit shaky, was still fundamentally sound.

"Fundamentally sound"---now where have I heard those words before?

Now, I've looked at the details of this so-called "Bailout Bill," and it looks more and more like a leaky bucket every time I re-read the damned thing. No---I'm no "expert," but I can still see a fundamental problem with a package that contains no inherent enforcement of its intended purpose---to re-establish credit lending to the People.

In hard times, the banking sector will go into a bunker-mentality. That's just the way banks work, trying to hunker down in a shallow trench and dodge the bullet of economic hazard. All I'm seeing in this bailout is the ability for the banking sector to dig a deeper trench.

And another point to be made is that none of these so-called "experts" have dared to mention the hundreds of billions of dollars already thrown by the Fed into stabilizing the economic system's liquidity crises (yes---I do mean "plural" here) over the past year and a half.

In the end, this bailout is like sitting on your back porch and seeing a tornado touch down a few miles away. Your neighbors' homes start getting shredded, so you decide to move 'round to the front porch---a tornado-free view. Eventually, you are faced with one of three scenarios:

You can sit on your front porch and make the tornado go away by thinking it away. That's where the "experts" have been for the past several years, and where Washington is with this "bailout" thingie.

You can go to the basement, listen to your house get shredded, and then begin the task of rebuilding. Common sense tells me that's where I should be right about now, but everyone wants to forestall this with bailout packages.

You can die with your house, which is what I think is going to happen if we keep feeding what financial resources the taxpayers still have to this endlessly-hungry monster.

Given the three options, I could come up with a fourth---take the $700 billion and increase it to a size whereby every single-family residential mortgage in the United States is summarily paid down by a specific amount. Not a percent value, mind you, but a fixed dollar amount---perhaps $50,000 as a target, just to open the discussion.

Now, we're probably talking about sever trillion dollars here, but just the same, we'll stay with $50,000 per mortgage.

If a person owes less that $50,000 on their home, they don't get the balance---they just get their house paid off for them. And no cheating by going out to get an equity loan, just to get the extra cash!

Everyone else gets a $50,000-bite taken out of their mortgage. The balances can---at the homeowner's option---either remain the same (if their payment terms are at a good rate, or if their homes are now almost paid off, for instance), or they can opt to re-finance at a lower rate (backed by Freddie, Fannie, and Uncle Sammie's other friends, USDA and HUD, by the way)for an extended, fixed-rate conventional term.

Now, you've got several million families who don't have to make that mortgage payment every month, and the money saved from that flows back into the economy---followed by several tens-of-millions of families who either (a) can now see the light at the end of their long mortgage tunnel, or (b) can refinance into a better rate, spreading the principal balance out over a more comfortable term, and giving them some extra breathing room on their buying power---which, again, frees up more money to flow back into the greater economy.

Banks, along with the government, would have to enact a moratorium on "frivolous" home equity loans. You need a new roof? Fine. You need a three-week cruise in the Caribbean? Get out of my office, before I hit you with this nail-studded baseball bat.

You probably get the picture on this one, so I'll continue on.

The banks, in turn, are now freed from an astronomical amount of debt-load, both good and bad; they're able to refinance at better terms for everyone who wishes to do so without the fear of taking on more bad debt, the hazard of mortgage default is reduced by a rather generous exponential factor, and the specter of bank failures evaporates.

The Government (thus, the taxpayers) comes out on the far side of this extensively battered and bruised---aw, heck, let's just call it what it is: mugged and left face-down in a back alley with your wallet, car-keys, and shoes stolen by the dirty bastards---but at least, we're not back on that front-porch, dying with our house because of that damned tornado....

Well, you can go with the guys who didn't see this coming, like Krugman and Delong, or you can go with the guys who've been right all along, like Roubini and Baker. Seems pretty simple to me.

Nope, the plan is not transparent and still concentrates too much power under the office of a non-elected official. The money is better spent shoring up the true economy rather than supporting supply-side economics that simply do not work. Other vastly better bailout plans implemented in similar situations by other countries have a pretty poor track record. Rather than bad, but good enough; I say not nearly good enough. We can do better than this.

I don't think this is complicated. I agree that experts are more likely to understand the intricacies of this legislation, and of the root problem the legislation was designed to address, but I don't think it's beyond the average person's intelligence to understand why something -- maybe this bill, maybe something else -- needs to be done.

Credit is the fuel that our financial and economic system runs on. If we run out of credit -- and right now that's what's happening; all of the people besides the U.S. Government who can and do usually loan money are refusing to do so because they can't gauge the risk of such loans -- then we run out of that fuel.

In the short term, that doesn't hurt you and me anymore than it would hurt you and me if there were suddenly no more oil to pump out of the ground. There would still be gas in the (literal) pipeline, at least for a while. But at some point, that gas would be used up, and then what would happen?

The race here is to fix the credit (liquidity) problem before this financial problem becomes an economic problem. The goal is to get credit moving again, reliably, before companies have to lay off workers, which hurts the economy because consumer spending is two thirds of our economic activity.

Do I like any of this? No. Is it necessary? Yes.

The difference between six percent unemployment, eight percent unemployment, and ten percent unemployment is vast. Right now Michgan is (or was) at about 8.5% unemployment, and everyone understands that the state is badly hurting. The goal with this bill is ultimately is to keep the country from joining that pain.

I think the Democrats rolled themselves on this one. There are ways to accomplish the same thing that don't hand over the keys to the Treasury Department.

This is a fairly reasoned piece on the situation...I so agree that many people who are chiming in with opinions on either side are ill-informed to do so and are reacting to ideological positions already held or are giving emotional reactions to their fear and doubt about the financial future. Yes, we can be angry at representatives in our government who have NOT performed their duties well...BUT, we must also reserve some of that dissappointment for ourselves because, IMHO, there are few people in America (perhaps even those of little means) who, for whatever reason or rationale, have long lived beyond their means. As a product of parents and grandparents whose financial decisions were molded by the GREAT DEPRESSION (number one) we were brought up with the idea that one didn't purchase things they did not have the cash in hand for...saving was encouraged, however minimal it might routinely be, and some consideration of NEED rather than WANT be given to decisions. Few of these principles have been prevalent in our society for decades in public, private, or government life. ADD to that the fact that we as an electorate are beyond poorly informed on most issues that we express opinions on and you can see, perhaps, why we are in a HOLY MESS! I have been captured by blogs for two administration terms now and find few places where meaningful discussions go on...just lots of slogans and cuteness ...not helping...

That sentence, with which I agree, negates your entire piece. That $700 billion is already more deficit spending than we can afford, and I am not sure it is going to work. The bill puts way too much power into an administration that isn't competent, doesn't play straight, and can't be trusted. Of course it will help calm Wall Street (give me $700 billion and I'll calm way down), but it will preclude additional deficit spending (except for weapons, of course) and much social spending, and will reduce the government to the point where it can be easily drowned in a bathtub. And that's been a Republican goal all along. This is Bush ruling the government for the next decade. What would happen if instead we were to spend $700 billion on infrastructure and health care?

Did mean to say (except for the long whacko posts above)...this is a place where one MIGHT be able to find some reasoned discussion...and for that I am grateful...thanks

Two things are going to have to happen here:

1) Taxes are going, up, up up, on the well-off, and a lot of loopholes are going to be closed for good.

2) The government is going to have to spend as much as they can to get the demand side of the equation going again. If that means "make-work" infrastructure projects, then so be it. And I say "as much as they can" because they're going to have to use 1) to also ensure that they don't cause a crash of the dollar that causes even more pain.

So, while I agree that there is a limit to the amount of deficit spending that we can do without a serious decline in the dollar, we are still going to have to find ways for the government to induce demand via an improved job and wage situation for the lower classes that do the most spending on necessity items.

The people who drafted the Law of Return would be astonished to learn that it applies to me. Which, in fact, it doesn't. And I'm from Boston.

Is this a good bill? Probably not. But I remind everyone to learn to count -- as I did when the impeachment question came up. Pelosi has a numerical, but not an ideological majority in the House, and Reid has a one vote majority in the Senate. And there are a lot of scared people out there who have listened to those who would sink the bill because of some feature involved in it.

This is a tourniquet, nothing more. It's 'what you do in the ambulance to keep the patient alive' until you get to the hospital (the opening month of the next Congress) when some real remedies can be applied.

YES, we need a PWA and a WPA. (For the 'manually skilled workers' but not just for them.)

YES, we need a list of new regulations to stop this happening again.

YES, we need incentives and aid for people to get to college -- the trouble with the 'new GI Bill' is that it only covers a much smaller military, but it is a start.

YES, we need a decent health care plan -- and eventually a single payer one, but first we have to figure out whatr to do with all those 'medical billing assistants' who have represented one of the few growth jobs recently.

YES, we need to stop being afraid of 'defecit spending' or decent tax policies.

and most importantly

YES, we need Democratic Senators, Congressmen and Governors -- and in state legislatures -- everywhere this is possible. (Not all Democrats are great, not all Republicans are idiots, but the odds on both are strong)

But in the meanwhile, we have to keep the patient alive till we get to the hospital. The bailout bill has problems, but let's not squabble about them while the patient gets so bad we may have to do twice as much to get him back on his feet again.

As an anthropologist, I have to say this is one of the most reasonable representation of how to deal with experts. However, as someone who is overly familiar with the state of Western knowledge of how, I can safely say that economists and political scientists are some of the most myopic experts out there. Just for the record, I am about as far from a postmodern theoretical approach as one can get.

At this point, making one decision or the other is as much a crap shoot as flipping a coin. Here's a good rule of thumb, though: Trust whichever guy knows the most about how evolutionary processes have shaped human behavior.
