FLORIDA GOV GIVES UP ON ACORN MESSAGE.... This morning, Sarah Palin continued to talk about Obama "tolerating voter fraud." It's a little surprising that no one has stopped to explain to the poor governor the difference between voter fraud and registration fraud, but Palin isn't exactly a fact-oriented kind of candidate anyway.

But it appears the Republican ticket is going to keep repeating transparent nonsense. McCain, in one of his more pathetic moments last night, argued that ACORN may be in the process of "destroying the fabric of democracy" -- an insane claim that's mysteriously drawn no media scrutiny at all.

Marc Ambinder noted the other day that "it's hard to find an honest GOPer" who actually believes ACORN-related voter registration will help Obama. Once in a while, one is even willing to admit this out loud.

Florida's governor says his fellow Republicans may be exaggerating claims of voter fraud in the state.

Gov. Charlie Crist said Wednesday that he has confidence in Secretary of State Kurt Browning, who says there's only been a scattering of isolated incidents.

Crist said in the closing days of any campaign "there are some who sort of enjoy chaos." There may be more of that going on than fraud, he said.

Crist's candor came one day after McCain, slipping into a sad delusional state, insisted that "vote fraud" might cost him a victory in Florida.

Granted, there's apparently some sort of rift between Crist and McCain right now, with the Florida governor distancing himself from the Republican campaign, but his dismissal of ridiculous McCain/Palin conspiracy theories is nevertheless striking.

I think Crist is worried that Florida could become the center of another contested election and he doesn't want that on his record.

On a side note, if Florida does become disputed again, as it did in 2000, can we please ban them from any percipation in national elections for the next 3-4 cycles?

Crist is pissed because he went through the humiliation of having to find a girlfriend (or "beard" - look it up) in the hopes of being selected for the VP slot, only to have some retarded lightweight from the Arctic get picked instead. He deserves to be pissed.

Yeah, good point, that was another INSANE McCain Claim--hey, I like the sound of that!

I think everyone is getting a bit loopy now with this topsy-turvy logic (defensive posturing) that finds ways to 'split off' all the horrors (in word and action) of the abuser onto the victim--in psychology circles they literally call this 'Crazy Making'.

i don't think we've ever "percipated" in any national election.

Of course, this is the prelude to the Republican Excuse of 2008 - Obama won because of massive voter fraud.

from what i've seen of the obama ground game here, i don't think florida will be close.

Yes, and I believe that Ann Coulter would be one of the few.

"destroying the fabric of democracy" --

I thought the GOP did that when they had the Supremes determine our President. But seriously, this really is inane and McCain is dangerously whipping up this frenzy over a non-issue. Setting the table for delegitimizing the election results?

an insane claim that's mysteriously drawn no media scrutiny at all.

After all this time Steve, the Media's perfidy is still a mystery to you

...McCain, slipping into a sad delusional state, insisted that "vote fraud" might cost him a victory in Florida.

OMG, if that happens, we could actually PUT THE WRONG PRESIDENT IN OFFICE! Oh, wait...

The Weather Underground under the leadership of unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers has reincarnated as ACORN to destroy American democracy with massive voter fraud, to put their Manchurian Islamofascist commie candidate Barack Hussein Obama in the White House, from where he and Ayers will bomb the Pentagon and raise the white flag of surrender to the communists in Iraq. Why won't the liberal media tell the truth about this, my friends?

Crist might be eying a run in 2012. who knows what the gop will look like at that point. nobody has conclusively proven he is gay and the gop has always been willing to turn a blind eye to those in the closet as long as they continue to deny.

Crist is no dummy. He sees that the path McCain is taking is a freaking minefield.

If he's smart, he will do his job as Governor, make sure the election is free and fair in his state, and then wait until after the GOP implodes to help the moderates throw out the radicals and reclaim the party.

If that happens and the Democrats solidify majorities in both houses, we might be able to get something done.

Whew, I thought it was 200,000 fake registrations like in Ohio.

All of those are clearling going for Obama.

Charlie is more attuned to the shifting political winds than any public offical in the state. He deliberately declined to appear with Dubya when running for Governor - in spite of Jeb. He can smell a change in the air like a pointer smells a quail. The fact that he is avoiding McCain, the guy he went out on a limb for in the primary, speaks volumes about where he thinks this race is headed.

This should be simple. Politically speaking, the US has become a banana republic, so maybe we should adopt the same procedures for validating voters.

Every voter gets a thumb dip in purple dye.
Nobody's going to vote twice unless they go to some sort of extraordinary procedure to get the dye off.

Problem solved.

Now, now Governor Crist. Talking sensibly is one reason McPOW didn't ask you to be his "Partner and soul mate."

So there's a rift with Bill Kristol AND Charlie Christ now... And I thought the only Republican the Republicans were running from was George Bush.
