SCHEUNEMANN HAS A TEMPER TANTRUM.... Randy Scheunemann may be John McCain's top foreign policy advisor, but it appears he has the kind of temperament usually found in his boss.
Yesterday morning, the Atlantic's Marc Ambinder noted the "internal dissension" at McCain campaign headquarters, including a faction that has "begun to whisper about Gov. Sarah Palin to reporters." This faction, Ambinder explained, believes Palin, "perhaps unwittingly," keeps saying things that take the campaign off message, including her ridiculous attack on Obama "palling around with terrorists" -- a line that the campaign had reportedly not cleared in advance.
Soon after, Scheunemann contacted Ambinder via email.
Just read your post. This is on the record. This is cleared by HQ. It is a fact that Barack Obama was palling around with terrorists. It was a fact before Governor Palin said it in a fully vetted speech and it is fact today. It is bullshit to claim or write anything else.
Temper, temper, Randy. Keep this up and people might start wondering about the erratic and intemperate nature of the McCain campaign, which doesn't seem to keep its cool under pressure.
First, it's kind of odd that Scheunemann believes it's a campaign-approved "fact" that Obama "palled around with terrorists." For one thing, Obama never "palled around with" Bill Ayers, who presumably is the basis for this absurd smear. If the McCain gang has evidence to the contrary, it's hiding it well. For another, note the "s" at the end of "terrorists." Scheunemann believes it's a "fact" that there are multiple terrorists that Obama keeps on speed-dial?
Second, if the volatile Scheunemann really wants to play this game, it's worth taking a moment to consider his close associations with some strikingly unsavory characters.
It is a fact that Randy Scheunemann was a stooge for Ahmad Chalabi. It was a fact before the McCain campaign launched ridiculous smears and it is a fact today. It is, to borrow a phrase, "bullshit to claim or write anything else."
Remember, we are talking about a man who would, in a McCain administration, have a key role in shaping U.S. foreign policy. Something to keep in mind.

In 2004, CNN reported: Chalabi suspected of giving U.S. secrets to Iran.
Does this mean McCain's top aides "palled around" with Iranian agents? Worse, that they were paid by the Iranian agents? Possibly to suck the US into a war it couldn't win, one that would destroy our moral reputation and degrade our military capabilities?
By his own logic, Scheunemann is either an Iranian dupe, or an Iranian agent provocateur tasked with tricking the US into making disastrous foreign relations blunders. Somehow, I doubt Rush Limbaugh will be following this thread any time soon.

More sounds from the land of "we got 'em where we want 'em!"
Now, do we have to ask them what the definition of "facts" is?
The problem with making your own reality is that, eventually, it makes you.

Welllll... I've seen many photos of Barack Obama with John McCain. In his campaign, McCain has been systematically using tactics that are intended to create fear in the American people to support his ideological goals. Thus, John McCain is a terrorist. He is terrorizing the electorate. And since we've seen Obama with McCain on several occasions, Obama is definitely palling around with one terrorist: John McCain.

Early voting is supposed to be good for Obama, but every day of delay gives another opportunity for McCain and his minions to further trash what's left of their reputation. Undecideds, why not watch things for a few more days?

The Republican response to the plural terrorists is Ayers' wife was one too.
McCain's answer, notably, was 'it's just words'.

Scheunemann is the head neocon in a campaign rife with neocons. Yep, the same whackos that brought you the Iraq war. To vote for McCain and expect anything other than an escalation of the Bush years is the very definition of insane.
I have no doubt that Scheuneman is up to his eyeballs in provoking Georgia to launch strikes against South Ossetia. That was an engineered crisis.

Steve, this is all so much Beltway insider gossip.
First of all, 99% of voters have never even heard of this guy, Randy Scheunemann. To paraphrase Claude Rains in Casablanca, I'm shocked, shocked to find a major political campaign figure who's all full of himself. Who knew?
Further, you're not-so-subtly implying that the Obama campaign doesn't have anyone of a similar volatile temprament and fragile ego, a false notion which can be quickly disspelled in but two words: David Axelrod.
So, I would suggest that you all get over yourselves, Mary.
Because I can assure you, those of us political rubes residing in the boondocks and hinterlands outside I-495 have already done so a long time ago. As far as we're concerned -- present company excepted, of course -- the Beltway's politically incestuous denizens are primarily responsible for our country's present and somewhat dire predicament.

Is Ashley Todd related to Todd Palin? They have the same name, so must be related. So, the Palin campaign is related to a liar and hoaxer. When will Ashley the Hoaxer join the McCain touring bus with Joe the Plummer and Joe the Brother?
Now, we are having fun!

Hi Steve,
In another one of those moments when I feel totally out of step with my nation, I thought McCain palling around with Pinochet was, on balance, more damning than Barack palling around with Ayers.
Who is the greater threat to Democracy?
I guess it is too soon to say, but I'm guessing the Pinochet connection is not going to get the air time Ayers has.
It's been like this for me since the Joint Hearings on Iran/Contra were investigating Oliver North's connection to Eugene Hasenfus.
Unlike the rest of the nation, I thought we nailed him.

Also, don't forget Randy's associations with (Caucasus) Georgia and possibly goading them into messing with the Russians (for a cheap political point, perhaps.)
