Turn out the lites, the party's over.

The polls showing McCain closer to Obama are based on modeling this election like previous ones, and not taking likely higher black etc. turnout into effect. You'd think the updating adjustment would have to be more accurate, but don't assume (it makes an ASS out of U and ME.) Some poll watchers think it could be close or even a McCain squeaker if those groups don't come out in force and drown out all the fake plumbers who hate socialism. Really, again, no time to be a bit complacent and it will take hard-core charging up to the very end (and maybe beyond!) to pull this thing through.

i'll be watching VA on election night... being an eastern state it could be called pretty early. if virginia gets called for obama, i think we can all start the celebration.

byron - I've been helping out the Obama/locals campaign in VA - I hope I can get a good sense of accomplishment if we turned VA blue.

And again, why would Obama not accept public financing? Hmmm. Could it be becaue of crazed 527s attacking with knives and no intellectual honesty? We need a real dialogue after this election. Free speech ends with slander I believe. McCain's transition tema chief apparently lobbied for Saddam Hussein. Does this diminish McCain as a candidate? Much more than sitting in church. The humorous part of this, to me, is that religious conservatives say much worse than Wright every week. They are making it far less likely that future candidates will attend church at all--or admit to it anyway.

Today is the next to last day of real reporting. This will cover the lead-up, the event and the snap-analysis.

Tomorrow, everyone will have to talk at least a little about the event.

Friday is not a news day, but is Halloween, nor Saturday or Sunday. But Sunday is another summary day, which will include talk of this event.

Monday is too late to attack.

What I did was play around a bit with my mouse to see if it would raise any kind of clickable option. And You (in YouTube, at the lower right) was, so I clicked on that and got a replay, directly on the YouTube. From there, I was able to harvest the URL.

I'm a 'puter-illiterate, so this is not an elegant solution, but it seems to be a workable one.

The averages of the four national daily tracking polls that Nate Silver posts (Gallup, Zogby, Rasmussen & Hotline) over the past five days, from 10-25 thru 10-29, demonstrate serious erosion in Obama's lead: 8.13%, 7.58%, 6.95%, 6.08% & 5.43% - this race is definitely tightening, and fast.

State polls are laggers, because they don't come out every day as the trackers do.

Hmmm ... weird that the latest AP polls aren't the crack smoking kind. I wonder if someone had a sit-down with the pollster about over-sampling evangelicals.

The article is siting every time Obama has grandstanded, and I notice that every time Obama did that, his numbers went up.

I don't know 'bout y'all, but if I were an undecided voter watching that Obama effect trailer I'd actually want to vote Obama. The "scare" factor (at least in the trailer) seemed awfully weak.
From a GOP perspective, I'd guess this DVD's only usefulness would be to scare the base a little more than it already is? Doubtful.

The only substantive backfire issue I see with Obama's long piece tonight is interference with the World Series (Game six reprisal?) McCain (pumped up of course by a Drudge blare) is hitting this, saying he'd never delay the WS etc.
