VOTE FOR WHAT'S HIS NAME.... Three days until the election, in arguably the biggest and most important swing state, Republicans held a rally and forgot to highlight their presidential nominee.
At a boisterous Sarah Palin rally in Polk City, Florida on Saturday afternoon, one name was surprisingly absent from the campaign decor -- John McCain's.
Looking around the Fantasy of Flight aircraft hangar where the rally took place, there were all the usual reminders that it was a pro-McCain event. There were two large "Country First" banners hung on the walls along with four enormous American flags meant to conjure the campaign's underlying patriotic theme. Many of the men and women in the audience wore McCain hats and t-shirts.
But on closer inspection, the GOP nominee's name was literally nowhere to be found on any of the official campaign signage distributed to supporters at the event.
They only hope to elect McCain president in a couple of days. Hardly a good reason to promote his name.

Gotta give 'em some credit - they know a loser when they see one.

has there ever been a more incompetent campaign? That the race is as close as it is, is a testament racism. There is no other explanation for McCain's train wreck to be within 25 points.

Probably saving money...or...could it be a subconscious failure to commit.
I have received almost no McCain flyers stuffed in my door or mailed to me either.
Agree--probably spotting a loser in this catastrophe of a campaign.

That's completely in keeping with the Rethuglican way of life. It's not important WHO gets elected (they aren't supposed to do anything but let God speak through them for war and deregulation), it's just important that it be a Rethug. If you must know, McSame was a POW and Palin will someday work her way up to being "adequate." Makes me just sweat red, white and blue.

C'mon people! You know what just happened! WaMo readers are the sharpest tools in the shed - and no, I didn't just call you tools - This wasn't a rally for the 2008 race! The 2012 republican primary kicked off today in Polk City, Florida!

JoeW:
I don't think it can all be tied to racism, honestly. a decent percentage of the country has been told, non-stop, for two decades that democrats are evil, baby-killing, terror-loving communists. I really believe that about 40% of the US would never vote for a Democrat at this point, no matter who he/she was or who the opponent was.

I agree with Blue Girl. Either it just kicked off or Palin is gonna stage a coup if McSame get's in... and they're just preparing the faithful for it. Or hell, maybe that's been her plan all along. That's why she "went rogue" and all.

A black liberal running against a former POW who's a fixture in the U.S. Senate? I think it speaks well of America that Obama enjoys a decent lead in most polls despite a non-stop barrage of character assassination from the opposition's campaign. I am really touched by the number of homemade Obama signs I see-haven't seen a homemade McCain sign yet.

It is not unkown for pitbull bitches to turn on their masters, especially if the master is cruel and craven.
If you take a strange dog into your house and mistreat it, it will lunge at your throat.
McCain, by all accounts, spent less than 24 hours with Sarah the lipsticked pitbull, before welcoming her into his campaign. He then sequestered her away with his "handlers" to be properly trained.
Alas, when she emerged to be shown like a purebred at Westminster, her performance before the bright lights was predictably poor.
McCain should have made a more thorough investigation of her pedigree, it's called vetting. He can hardly be supprised that the bitch has turned into a "whack-job" and a "diva" who has turned on her handlers and master.

It will be interesting to see Palin and Huckabee duke it out. Huckabee is sly; Palin is not.

Maggie Mooseburger will come tromping through the woods making a racket, and he'll hear her coming a mile away, and quietly wait in the tree stand to take her out with a clean shot the second she steps into the clearing. Then go on to lose because we just don't want any religious whack-jobs running things.

McWho? Those true Americans in Florida came out to see their Hot Chick. That's who they'll be voting for.

What an apt name for the Flight of Fantasy campaign.

Hell, La Palin would just have you vote for her now. She'll figure out a way to get rid of that creepy old fart who's been getting on her nerves so much lately and she'll just start doing her Evita routine on the whole world. Except I think Evita was smarter.

"has there ever been a more incompetent campaign? "

We all got a good taste of how the McCain campaign was going to be run at the Republican convention, when the huge image of Walter Reed Middle School was shown behind McCain during his acceptance speech.
Complete and utter ineptitude from the get-go. The Republican mind is not one that does well at organizational tasks.

This was obviously an early rally for the 2012 election.

yes, when i saw the headline, my first thought was, why do you think it was a mistake? palin most likely did it on purpose.

Polk County Florida, where Polk City is located, is the Meth capital of Florida.
I'm sure she was just giddy, cause it felt so much like being back in Wasilla

Friend of mine was driving last weekend through Ashland, Oregon and saw a handmade sign along I-5 that said, "Write in Palin for President".
Expression of true wingnut thought, or guerrilla tactics by an imaginative Dem?

It's the only way I can make sense of Obama not having at least a 75 point lead.
Perhaps it would be helpful to remember, statistically speaking, we have to deal with the fact that HALF THE COUNTRY IS BELOW AVERAGE, I.Q.- wise and otherwise.

Here in chattanooga, I've seen two bumperstickers that just said "Palin" within the last week.
well, one said "Sarah-cudda".

"HALF THE COUNTRY IS BELOW AVERAGE, I.Q.- wise and otherwise."
Actually, half of the country is below the median IQ.
