GINGRICH PULLS OUT OF RNC RACE.... To the disappointment of Democrats everywhere, Newt Gingrich has decided not to seek the chairmanship of the Republican National Committee.

"A number of people have asked me to consider running for Republican National Committee chair. They have been very flattering, and I am very honored by their support," he said.

"However, my job as an American first is to develop a tri-partisan approach to developing solutions for the challenges we face. I use the word tri-partisan to designate the concept of attracting Democrats, Republicans, and independents to solutions that unify most Americans."

Yes, if there's one thing we know about Newt Gingrich, it's that he has no use for politics of partisanship and ideology.

* In 1994, after Susan Smith drowned her two young sons, Gingrich, just three days before the midterm elections, equated her crime with the values of the Democratic Party. Gingrich told the AP, "The mother killing her two children in South Carolina vividly reminds every American how sick the society is getting and how much we have to have change. I think people want to change and the only way you get change is to vote Republican. That's the message for the last three days."

* In 1999, shortly after the Columbine massacre, Gingrich argued that American "elites" bear responsibility. "I want to say to the elite of this country -- the elite news media, the liberal academic elite, the liberal political elite: I accuse you in Littleton ... of being afraid to talk about the mess you have made," Gingrich said, "and being afraid to take responsibility for things you have done, and instead foisting upon the rest of us pathetic banalities because you don't have the courage to look at the world you have created."

* Last year, after the shootings at Virginia Tech, Gingrich blamed liberals for supporting "situation ethics," adding, "Yes, I think the fact is, if you look at the amount of violence we have in games that young people play at 7, 8, 10, 12, 15 years of age, if you look at the dehumanization, if you look at the fact that we refuse to say that we are, in fact, endowed by our creator, that our rights come from God, that if you kill somebody, you're committing an act of evil." Gingrich, explaining the VT tragedy, went on to condemn Halloween costumes and the McCain-Feingold campaign-finance law.

"A tri-partisan approach to developing solutions for the challenges we face." Of course. How could I forget.

I would have guessed that by "tri-partisan", he meant faith-based parasites, low-tax-for-billionaires hawks and big military proponents.

He is simply awful. Always has been, always will be.

Steve--this is an excellent compilation of the duplicitous, disingenuous nature
of the Gingrich insight.
"Don't put me on the couch?"
He probably feels as misunderestimated as the president these days...

That's bad news for us. Michael Steele is a much better choice for the Republicans. He's actually intelligent and competent.

Susan Smith also had close family ties to the Republican party , which is a hotbed of Democratic party values.

Darn. Now he can ooze back into obscurity and the endless green rooms of backwater Fox News shows.

Tri-partisan. Partisans who will "Tri" anything.

Rather like most -- ah, hell, let's face it, ALL -- Republicans.

There once was a man named Newt.
Who had warts along the length of his root.
The doctor added acid to these,
and now when he pees,
Newt holds his root like a flute.

That's Newt -- the root polluter.

And Ted Bundy, serial killer with around 30 victims to his name, worked for the Washington state republican party. Oddly, I've never heard Gingrich mention him.

Apparently you missed him on the Stephanopulous show a couple weeks ago where he was in broad agreement with Robert Reich.

Seriously, do you guys do anything but dish around here? I thought your panties would be unknotted by now.

He's a truly terrible man. Not much else to say.

I think Newt is right -- he hates liberals and moderates regardless of what party they're in, and makes common cause with power-mad moneygrubbers ditto.

Hey Cobb - Bring back the thousands killed in Iraq, heal the thousands wounded, repatriate the millions od Iraqis forced from their country, return the trillions looted, and restore America's good name around the world & I'll stop being angry at Republicans.

If you can't do all of that - STFU.

Oh gosh no, Cobb. We also trade recipes. I'm going to post a delicious recipe for borsch. I'm sure it will be quite popular at the re-education camps!

On a related note? The sales of guns is accelerating at a phenomenal rate since the election of Barack Obama as our next President. What is this about? Why would people need more guns, now? Are they afraid the chickens are coming home to roost and they have to defend themselves against said chickens? I would bet a sizeable amount of the Bail-Out money that the majority of these folks have a rightward bias, and most are probably registered as Republicans. They probably will name their daughters Sarah and enroll them in the NRA at the first opportunity. I also suspect membership in the NRA is going up, meaning they will have lots of money to fight any form of weapons control that may come from this new administration.

Circle the firing squad, blindfolded as always, and ready, fire, aim.

This is very mean, so hide your children's eyes: the 8-yr-old boy who shot his father and another man was probably abused and the father, for all the good words about him, probably has some very dark sides to him. Not saying the father committed any abuse, but any man who would teach a child to shoot to kill has some real issues with his own manhood and self-esteem. When will the "rest of the story" emerge? I could be completely wrong on this, but in considering the other shootings by young people, Columbine, VT, etc., there is much that is hidden and has not yet been revealed.

Kind of got off track, but in my mind, all of this is related. Newt's projections upon Dems is his own stuff, and it is not hard to see, if one just pays attention.

peace,
st john

This is the party that gave us Iraq, sanctions on Iraq that brutalized that nation, and then mass murder in Iraq. Fuck them and any dishonest claims they make to morality.

Thanks for the heads-up on all the redneck crackers arming up. We'll probably see an increase of suicides, domestic shootouts and general mayhem - the Darwin effect in action.

"tri-partisan"

That some kind of right-wing three-way?

The Republican Party is as confused as are, many Theoretical Physicist, trying to develop the unification theory. But, for Republican’s “developing unification” seems the only way is to introduce a culture of taking the ideas from the past especially from Reagan. This is some what laughable; however, maybe there is something to it.

For the method and efforts used so far to illustrate how Republicans are better than Democrats have actually destroyed themselves, and many of us with them. One of the most pitiful Reagan quotes is repeated over and over again, that government is the problem. Yet if centered properly in terms of defending the Constitution it is made of “We the People” are supposed to run the Government. Here, very sublimely is the message, Republicans are actually sending, for simplicity that we the people are stupid, and don’t know how to govern.

As I ponder on this theme it makes me laugh, all the while Republicans rant this year how corrupt and broken government is, and that they have been the bulk of its leadership for the past few decades. Of course Clinton was the president for two terms but the major party control in legislative shenanigans is a Republican dominated issue. If America was able to get anything done deals had to be made and to blame only Clinton for failures in Judgement is the same logic used on “Leave it to Beaver”.

Very funny but so laughable, it seems we have a lot of adults with childish minds in the Republican Party and the business environment. The argument is displayed on hate radio 24x7; the anger is intense as a youngster having a break down in reason. Here, the Republican’s using play ground expression like “Just because”. Here, a young mind that has no vision while opening the wrapper to a candy bar and stuffing it down. Similarly, our billions of tax dollars are just handed over to white collar goof balls that screw up get free money then stuff it down.

Again, hate radio is at it, mustering out fire and brimstone division between Conservatives and Liberals. That notion of left and right politics, extreme and center, for my self, as a person who dwells in mathematical concepts with its relations to our cultural makes my mine fly open. More and more, sensing that there is no division among people, just that notion developed through time by those Limbaugh types, here, ideals that are needed to divide people to gain power.

The concept, of us or them, you with me or against me, again play ground stuff, is that factor as described by most analysts and Bush gives us all a view into the future that these guys are idiots. So that’s how Obama got elected, Change to be united. Here, with a people’s quantum leap in an over whelming electoral win the Republican’s are forced to take their label of dog food off the shelf because it is so bad. Be careful, they won’t waste that dog food, just rewrap it in Panliology.
