WHERE CREDIT IS DUE.... Last week, Jon Stewart told Fox News' Chris Wallace something he liked about the Republican network. "Can I tell you something, though?" Stewart said. "I have to say this. Yourself, Shep Smith, uh, you and Shep Smith both have your moments."

That's true, and he had one yesterday.

By way of my friend Alex Koppelman, this clip shows Shepard Smith responding to some conservative comedian who believes Barack Obama won last week because "the media" was "in the tank" for him. Smith would have none of it.

I didn't agree with every word of Smith's analysis, but it was definitely on the right track. It's worth taking a look.

Hmmm...Do you suppose that guy calls himself a comedian because everyone constantly laughs at him?

I love the fact that the guy looks absolutely flummoxed that Smith is disagreeing with him. Like "b-b-but . . . you're on FOX?!?!"

Nick DiPaolo has always been a lazy hack. Heaven forbid he should actually think before he open that mouth of his.

Heh, nice one Shep. You'd better get back on track though, before you lose your job.

I remember Sheperd Smith doing a terrific job during Hurricane Katrina and always thinking he was a large cut above the other chuckleheads there.

We're going to compliment him out of a job if we're not careful!

Here's a link to his coverage then. Worth a look for sure

Wait, Shep lumps FOX in with the mainstream media?

We've got to encourage fair and balanced when it rears its head, since it doesn't do it often over there. They will allow some of this because of the fact that they will be marginalized like the Republican party if they don't at least pretend to be fair and balanced from time to time now.

Thank you Shep, for stating what a huge percentage of people in this country know to be true: that Republican claims regarding the purported liberality of the mainstream media is simply an artifact of Republican "reality denial."

This is not the first time that Smith has come out with some very unFox comments. Before the election I was watching Fox one day and Smith absolutely destroyed one of the talking heads who came on to badmouth Obama instead of sticking to the facts. His days at Fox are numbered--he's waaaaay too unbiased to keep his job at Faux. He's ready for MSNBC.

I like the answer to "how did George Bush win then?" "I don't know."

Neither do we! Well, maybe we do...

This goes waaaaaay back, but I remember him doing a tremendous job after the Columbine shootings. I used to work there and knew some of the injured kids. I was impressed.

But I almost never ever watch him on Fox now.

I think Chris Wallace and Shep Smith are cruising for a firing. I also think both would be able to find honest work on a real network. Arrrr.

Glad to see Nick DePaulo's still an obnoxious fuck.

This is completely off point, but who's the guy sitting there wearing the beret, and why? Anyone?

Wait, Shep lumps FOX in with the mainstream media?

Sad as it is, Fox has almost as many viewers as MSNBC and CNN combined. If either of those are mainstream, than Fox is too. Actually, the ratings of Fox, in addition to the circulation numbers of the NY Post and the WSJ are a good response to the accusation of left-wing media bias.

Yeah, I remember Shep's verbal on-air smack down of Hannity with some glee. GAWDAMN I thought, watching it happen in real time, that shit did not just happen – a Fox News reporter call out another Fox personality on his inhumanity?

The other day I saw Shep, a bit amateurishly, call Nader out on the carpet for his "Uncle Tom" comments, but it was still nice to see someone call "bullshit" when they saw it, even if it was on Fox. It was all good and stuff, but Shep was, I think, playing it up a hair for the cameras. His wide-eyed gapes were a bit overt.

reality has a left wing bias. Rethugs blame the media and accuse, accuse, accuse it of left-wing bias so that every time the news reflects reality, they can scream blood murder-
"'AHH, Left-wing bias!!!" When the facts support the Democrat, it's 'left-wing bias". When the presidential candidate is gentle, soft-spoken, eloquent, loved by most of the world, respected by most of the world, and runs a virtually flawless campaign, it's 'Left-wing bias". If they can make the media paranoid enough, they hope the MSM will NEVER say anything bad about a repig w/o also saying something bad about about a Dem, and never report positive info about a Dem unless there is a repig to complement at the same time. That's not news, that forced journalistic political correctness that removes any meaningful analysis and allows only tit-for-tat blathering. The MSM needs to tell those blowhards to take a hike, as Shep did. good for him. May others follow suit. Report the truth, provide insight, report the facts, no matter where the story leads. Watch over the government and hold them accountable, Dem or Repig. That is journalism.

If they can get a few more talking heads like SHep- and throttle back Joe F-Bomb then maybe they can claim to be fair and balanced.
