WEDNESDAY'S CAMPAIGN ROUND-UP....Today's installment of campaign-related news items that wouldn't generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers.

* Barack Obama has been the president-elect for about a month now, and as far as voters are concerned, he looks good so far. A new USA Today/Gallup Poll finds, "More than three of four Americans, including a majority of Republicans, approve of the job Obama has done so far -- broad-based support he'll need as he faces tough decisions ahead."

* The congressional races aren't quite over yet, and there's still a runoff election to be held in Louisiana's 4th congressional district, in the northwest corner of the state. Yesterday, Obama unveiled a radio ad in support of Caddo Parish District Attorney Paul Carmouche, who'll face Republican John Fleming. The election is Dec. 6.

* On a related note, Republican ads in Louisiana's 4th are pretty brutal.

* Hillary Clinton still has considerable campaign debts to retire, so her team is using her promotion to Secretary of State as a reason to hit up donors. According to multiple reports, Clinton still owes about $7 million.

* Remember Colorado Rep. Marilyn Musgrave, the far-right Republican who went into hiding after her re-election defeat? The good news is, she's reemerged. The bad news is, she only popped up long enough to record a bitter robocall for Saxby Chambliss in Georgia.

* I think it's exceedingly unlikely, but Bill Clinton indicated that he'd be willing to take on a role in the Obama administration.

Wait, why is that good news?

I would imagine Clinton isn't talking about a permanent post, but rather something like the hurricane and tsunami relief effort that he lead with President George H.W. Bush.

In that regard, one could plausibly say that Clinton played a role in the Bush Administration, so it's not hard to imagine he would do the same for President Obama (still fun to say that!).

I doubt it too, but a question: Has that ever happened before? Has an ex-president ever held an official post in a current administration?

Totally stupid and nitpicky on my part, but why do you need to put in a lengthy explanation of what a "campaign round-up" is? It's pretty obvious on its own.

Herbert Hoover was appointed by President Truman to a commission [which elected Hoover chairman] to study executive branch organisation.

Here is a sign of things are changing: Obama is getting MORE daily intelligence briefs than gw...

Gah! I know this probably sounds petty of me, but can Clinton please pay off this debt? Between her and Bill I'm sure they have the money around, and they're just sitting on this so they can try to get the rest of us to pay it. YOU'RE the one that stretched the primary three months too far, and yet you've got a great gig in the Obama administration. Let paying off those remaining debts promptly and honorably be your single price to pay after such numerous, monumental f-ups.

WJ and Jeb should take a lo-o-o-ng rest from politics.

Another totally stupid question but shouldn't it just be Wednesday's Round-Up? The "campaign" is over.

"The robo-call was made on behalf of “Team Sarah,” which was created by the Susan B. Anthony List to build “a coalition of women dedicated to advancing the values that Sarah Palin represents in the political process” … "

BWAHAHAHAHAHAAA

"Team Sarah", "values in the political process", a Thanksgiving Day ad Thanking Sarah for elevating the politics.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAAA

Who the hell are these disconnected from reality wackos? But, please lord let them spend lots more of their time and money promoting Sarah Palin!

Presidents-Elect always look good.

Uhh, Steve, Louisiana 2nd is ALSO having a runoff, with an actual Green Party candidate against William Jefferson.

Do NOT overlook this. I mentioned it here a week ago, too.

Taking a poll on a president's popularity when that president has yet to actually take office seems wicked silly to me.
