PEOPLE THINK HE CAN WALK AND CHEW GUM.... The Pew Research Center released its latest report today, and among other things, asked respondents about the media's favorite Obama-related question (pdf).

So far, do you think Barack Obama is ...

Trying to address too many issues at once - 35%
Focusing on too few issues - 4%
Doing about right - 56%

Eric Kleefeld added, "As one might expect, the 'too many issues' response is being driven by 53% of Republicans, with 37% of GOPers saying he's doing about right. It would make perfect sense for Republicans to think Obama is doing too much -- quite a lot of them don't like what he's doing to begin with."

I wonder what the results would look like if a similar poll was done among political reporters in D.C.

On a related note, the same poll showed self-identified Republicans in a very foul mood. They're not only turning against President Obama in large numbers, they're disappointed with their own party's congressional leadership, too, with support falling 12 points over the last month or so. Greg Sargent added, "In fact, approval of Republican congressional leaders has fallen from 34% in February to 28% currently, the lowest rating for GOP leaders in nearly 14 years of Pew Research surveys."

The irony, of course, is that Republican leaders on the Hill are delighted with their performance of late (remember the "Back in the Saddle" ad?). Apparently, they're the only ones who are impressed.

You have to admit. There is a very consistent 28% in this country. I hope most of them are old or considering emigration.

What, I wonder, do the core Republicans wish their Congressional leadership was doing?

Were they hoping one of them would try to sneak a weapon into the House and take a shot at Obama during the State of the Union?

Do they want the Senate to put on a full-time, 100% filibuster until Obama admits he was born in Kenya? (Or was it Indonesia?)

I mean, the Congressional Republicans, with the exception of only 3 Senators, have done exactly what Dark Lord Rush would want them to do. What else can the Republican base want?

If people just mark anything on a questionnaire, will any answer get 28%?

so the people most likely to get their news from Fox & right-wing talk radio are the people most disappointed with Obama?

Garbage In Garbage Out.

Can't let that go by without linking to the original observation of this phenomenon.

OBAMA CALLS BUFFETT

Wednesday March 11 - Sub-Rosa's senior investigative reporter, Ronald Davit, has obtained a discarded duplicate copy of the tape recording of part of President Obama's day in the oval office.
It appears that there are some omitted or deleted sections but we have pieced together these excerpts:

Hello, Warren, this is the President. How are things in Omaha?

Good. I want to thank you again for your help and advice during the campaign and the advice you have continued to offer. But I have to take issue with your view that I am taking on too many issues at one time and that I have to focus on the economy. Let me assure you .... oh, excuse me for a minute.

I'm back. That was Governor Sebelius and her chief of staff. They wanted clarification of one point in my health plan.

Tim Geitner and I are meeting later this afternoon to .... please hold, call coming in.

That was the Vice President, calling from Brussels. Joe needed approval of some draft language in NATO's letter to Putin. Tim and I are going to be discussing .....

(long silence)

Secretary Gates and Holbrook arrived early for their appointment. We had to make final decisions on some points in the new strategic plan for Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Tim and I feel that some clarification .... just a minute....

Thanks for holding. That was Emanuel. He needed to know which members of Congress will require strong persuasion to support a lower tax benefit for some itemized deductions in order to help fund our health plan. We have hopes .....sorry ...

That was just a draft of my speech tomorrow on our education overhaul.

As I said , I am focusing like a laser on the banking and jobs crisis. In fact .... Oh, Michelle. Yes, I will be available soon to help the kids with their homework. ....

And the Romanian delegation is here now?

Well, Warren, I know that you're very busy running Berkshire Hathaway so I won't keep you any longer. Thanks again for your help.
