MONDAY'S CAMPAIGN ROUND-UP....Today's installment of campaign-related news items that wouldn't generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers.

* More than half a year after the election, the Minnesota Supreme Court will begin considering Norm Coleman's case today.

* Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) ended the suspense this morning and announced that he will seek re-election next year. Though there were several Democrats eyeing the race if Coburn retired, the incumbent will enter the race as the strong favorite.

* In Florida, state Sen. Dan Gelber (D) appears to be ending his Senate campaign, telling supporters he's "taking a step back" from the race. Gelber's departure leaves Rep. Kendrick Meek (D) as the likely Democratic nominee.

* The DCCC will begin airing radio ads today, targeting six vulnerable House Republicans for having voted against President Obama's economic stimulus package.

* If his comments on MSNBC late last week were any indication, Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell (D) will be pretty aggressive in supporting Sen. Arlen Specter over Rep. Joe Sestak in a Democratic Senate primary next year.

* Voters in New Jersey will head to the polls tomorrow to choose the major parties' gubernatorial candidates. Gov. Jon Corzine is facing token opposition in a Democratic primary, but the Republican primary contest between former U.S. Attorney Chris Christie and former Bogota mayor Steve Lonegan has proven harder to predict.

Steve, you need to update and correct the Malkin post below.

Sullivan had it wrong -- the quote wasn't from Malkin; it was something she was quoting and mocking. Check his site again, with a nice update.

Just a quibble on Coleman comment -- "... the Minnesota Supreme Court will begin considering Norm Coleman's case today" -- today the Court heard oral argument; they've had the briefs and record at hand (and under consideration) for weeks.

If his comments on MSNBC late last week were any indication, Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell (D) will be pretty aggressive in supporting Sen. Arlen Specter over Rep. Joe Sestak in a Democratic Senate primary next year.

Time for the Democratic Wing of the Democratic Party across the country to rally to Sestak with enough money this month to give him the ability to run credibly and slap Rendell, Obama, and the rest of the Dimocrat Ruling Oligarchy by kicking alleged "Democrat" Spectre out of office next year.

At the worst, it will make Snarlin' Arlen at least try to vote like a Democrat over the next 17 months.

The reason the Christie-Lonegan race is looking closer is because voters are catching on to Chris Christie's long history of corruption. Lonegan has been hammering Christie on his decision to award a huge no-bid contract to David Kelley, the former U.S. attorney who declined to criminally charge Christie's brother Todd in a major Wall Street scandal a few years earlier. This tack has been working, and has been aided by mutually reinforcing examples of Chris Christie's blatant corruption (i.e. his awarding contracts and appointments to major campaign donors here and here).

Lonegan has no chance. New Jersey is Democrat politics at it's worst. anyone who defends the corruption and pay to play politics that are praticed here for ideological reasons alone should be ashamed of themselves. There are more democrat politicians in prison than there are in the statehouse.
