CONSERVATIVE MISINFORMATION UNIVERSITY.... Watching this very impressive video, put together by the fine folks at Media Matters, I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry.
The point, of course, is to show, category by category, just how ridiculous conservative media discourse has become. That's not exactly a new revelation, of course, but seeing it put together in this format helps drive the point home -- the discourse on the right is both deeply frightening and increasingly deranged. Any shred of intellectual honesty has disappeared entirely.
Media Matters' Karl Frisch, doing his best fake-commencement address, explained to the conservatives featured in the video, "The path here was long. Some said it would never end. You lost your integrity. You lost your senses. But you did it with gusto!
"You lied. You misled. You twisted the truth beyond recognition. Together, you may not have learned much, but you certainly sounded convincing to the unsuspecting ear. And that's what really matters right? History, science, economics, pre-med, pre-law... the degrees you have earned may mean nothing in real life but in the cable news business, well, it's solid gold.... Friends. Family. Fellow wing-nuts. I present to you, the Conservative Misinformation University class of 2009!"

Well, I would quibble with one point: Most of these clowns never had any integrity to lose.

What's most appalling is that level of asshattery is entirely willful. They're not wanting for opportunity, so their ignorance can only be blamed on the dollar signs obstructing their view.

That video could've been five, ten, times as long.
In Economics:
“She’s talking about the United States,” Keller said. “This legislation would ensure that the U.S. dollar remain the currency of the United States.”

AGREED! They seem to take pride in being ignorant and if you correct them they ignore you and jump to another topic. Don't know the difference between climate and weather and laugh like you're the idiot.
Laws are made for other people. They all flunked history. They cater to the ignorant...after all...who else would listen to them? It's a crying shame that now ignorance can be broadcast and applauded.
The movie "Idiocracy" is becoming a documentary for conservative America.

I watched this at Media Matters last night and laughed my ass off. Then I paused, and wondered if I shouldn't be crying instead. It definitely make one shake their head.
I sent an e-mail to Fox concerning Glenn Beck exhaling and calling it pollution. I stated that Beck was only polluting when he spoke, not when he exhaled.

BTW just in case some visitors don't get the point about exhaled CO2 not being "pollution": CO2 that recirculates in the carbon cycle doesn't increase the percentage in the atmosphere. But bringing up more from inside the ground, increases the percentage. In any case, it's whether the amount increases in the net that matters.

The ocean of absolute stupidity this country is drowning in is truly astonishing.
Even beyond the total-shit-like nature of what these assholes say is the way in which they're received by their target audiences. It's smack-you-in-the-face, blatantly obvious that O'Reilly's completely full of shit, that Beck is a nutcase, and that Hannity is stupider than a box of rocks. Yet their fans convince themselves that none of that matters since they're "on their side".
In other words, Beck is a douchebag because he says C02 can't be pollution because people exhale it. He's an uber-douchebag because he's convinced so many gullible morons that in order to be a good conservative, you have to listen to douchebags like him.

Republicans aren't going anywhere until they have someplace to go.
Let them have Alaska and Georgia and the rest of the Confederacy.
Who cares? What harm would it do us?
