MONDAY'S CAMPAIGN ROUND-UP....Today's installment of campaign-related news items that wouldn't generate a post of their own, but may be of interest to political observers.
* The Club For Growth is still trying to figure out ways to make Sen. Arlen Specter as miserable in Pennsylvania as possible.
* In related news, former Rep. Pat Toomey, who will likely be the Republican Senate candidate in Pennsylvania next year, is attacking Rep. Joe Sestak (D), Specter's likely primary rival, for his support of the Waxman-Markey global warming bill last week.
* With about a year left before California Democrats choose their gubernatorial nominee, a new poll shows state Attorney General Jerry Brown with a big lead over San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom.
* Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R) may have referenced certifying Al Franken's victory after the upcoming ruling from the state Supreme Court, but a closer look suggests Pawlenty's comments were nothing new.
* Is former New Hampshire Sen. John Sununu (R) planning to run again for the Senate next year? We'll apparently find out this week. Sununu's father, former Gov. John H. Sununu, who also happens to be the current Republican state party chairman, said he expects other possible GOP candidates to get out of the way should Sununu launch a campaign.
* Peter Schiff, an advisor to Ron Paul's presidential campaign, is moving forward with his plans to run for the Senate in Connecticut, apparently as a Republican. He would face former Rep. Rob Simmons and state Sen. Sam Caligiuri in a GOP primary.
* And as Mitt Romney continues a lengthy run for the presidency, his already-assembled team has to figure out how to spend the next few years.

Bernie Madoff gets 150 years.
That's $433,333,333 per year.
Pretty ritzy!

Basically every sensible person needs to get together and confront and subdue the "Club for Growth"[in the gap between rich and the rest.] They are such malefactors.

Two Comments:
Pawlenty, basically let Coleman know if he doesn't want the election to go to Franken, he had better get a Federal stay ASAP. So look for that immediately after the ruling.
Second, only a seriously masochistic person would want to be governor of California. Maybe Sanford will be looking for a job in a year, he is a financial wizard when it comes to the stimulus I hear.

"a new poll shows state Attorney General Jerry Brown with a big lead over San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom."
Wow, Newsome is really disliked - losing to Governor Moonbeam? Neither are great candidates.
It is said that Newsome has presidential aspirations. But there is something about his image that bothers people. He's a little squirrely and he has this gaffe on film - speaking the day the state Supreme Court overturned 2000's Prop. 22 ban on gay marriage, he says, "This door's wide open now, it's going to happen, whether you like it or not."
An ad featuring that statement got really heavy rotation during last election's Prop 8 campaign.

Four more years of the incompetence of Governor Moonbeam, the dumbest Democrat in America, will sink California for sure. Time to start working for Newsom.

How bout spending the next few years attending remedial education classes to learn that RightWing policies are dismal miserable failures ?

Sorry, TCinLA it's Newsome who's the INCOMPETENT
He's done NOTHING for SF
My street car runs less often and the fare is going from $1.50 to $2.00
Newsom's signature issue Care not Cash has FAILED
Gavin has reached his 'Level of Incompetence'
At least Jerry Brown could keep his zipper up
Gavin CAN'T
Gavin Newsom, less than meets the eye

I guess when you have as much money as Mitt, running for pres is kind of like a hobby. I can't wait to see him lose a depate against Palin.

I never thought I'd be giving a shout-out to the Club for Growth.

Schiff was on The Daily Show a few weeks ago and Jon Stewart slobbered all over him while practically suggesting Chris Dodd should just turn himself in down at the local police parlor. "I've seen his house -- that's a nice house!" Stewart should know better. Dodd is one of the few capable members of the Senate and, not surprisingly, also one of the poorest. Stewart owes him an apology and an appearance on the show.

I guess the Sununu family couldn't possibly see it turned around the other way could they?
Most people would say that if Jr. announces his candidacy that Sr. would recuse himself more-or-less and step down from running the party.
Why is it they can only imagine destroying any semblance of a fair Democratic process?
