DEMS GO ON OFFENSIVE AGAINST BOEHNER.... Over the weekend, House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) told Fox News that the stimulus package hasn't delivered for his state. "In Ohio, the infrastructure dollars that were sent there months ago, there hasn't been a contract let, to my knowledge," he said, as part of his criticism of the recovery efforts.

The comments became problematic when they were easily proven false -- dozens of infrastructure projects have been launched through the stimulus, at a cost of nearly $84 million. Complicating matters, Boehner doesn't think infrastructure dollars can help the economy in Ohio anyway, though he's had some trouble sticking to his talking points.

Dems are going on the offensive. The DNC unveiled this video this morning, going after Boehner for being confused about the economy in his own state. What's more, Vice President Biden will be Cincinnati tomorrow to talk up the stimulus effort -- in an area right next door to Boehner's district. Biden will appear at an event that will be held at a factory that had been shut down, but is now operating with recovery funds.*

Sam Stein noted the larger political dynamic: "What's noteworthy here is ... the willingness, indeed eagerness, on the part of the DNC to engage Boehner in a debate over the stimulus. If there is a particular vulnerability for the White House, it is the scope of president's stimulus spending. And among the places where the recovery package's shortcomings are most obvious, Boehner's home state of Ohio is one of them.... But, at least at this juncture, it seems clear Democrats feel comfortable defending the White House record when it comes to its job creations policies, in part because it's easy to localize the importance of the stimulus."

And this isn't limited to Boehner and/or Ohio. Ben Smith added this morning that the DNC is launching additional ads against Republicans who opposed the stimulus, accusing them of "attacking job creation in their backyard."

Congressional Republicans are anxious to use the stimulus as a cudgel against Dems. The majority party isn't about to cede the point.

This is a great development, now if they can only figure out how to be a majority party again...

The majority party isn't about to cede the point.

Yeah, well, I'll believe that when I see it.

And when Senate Dems rise up and oust Majority Leader Caspar Milquetoast, I'll believe they're serious about governing again.

the biggest mystery, why is he still minority leader? he doesn't seem to bright, except of course, for his bright orange tint.

And when are the Dems going to rise up against the DEMS who opposed the White House stimulus (and other policies)

Wow ! If Joe Biden is going to be there, we'll see some news made.

The biggest mystery is the bill that nobody read. Oh, you mean there are more than one ?

Here is IMHO the most important face and potential TP against the GOP and the economy: their embrace of "normal times" (more or less!) deficit spending per Cheney "Reagan showed deficits don't matter." Because of them running up big deficits/debt for the years leading up to the current crisis, it is now much harder to deal with since we have so little "leg room" about deficit spending.

Unfortunately, the pork-laden stimulus package hasn't helped the American economy as promised, much less Ohio's economy.

A recent poll shows Americans don't want another round of stimulus, but that's exactly what the Obama administration is planning.

I guess if at first you don't succeed, try and try again. It's not their money...

Ha, did they turn up the orange on Boehner? Is this an OJ on TIME mag moment?

It's about fucking time. The lack of aggressive counter-punching has allowed Obama's favorability ratings in OH to drop. More focus needs to be directed on how much the state is getting and what they're doing (or not doing) with the money.

al, jr. needs to take a logistics course. I don't think the bottleneck is at the federal level.

This is the first time I've seen Buckeye blues get their act together in a long time...

After the disappointing Quinnipiac poll (Obama's approval falling from 62% to 49%), I bet someone said, 'enough is enough of the Boehner lies, we're pushing back.'

Al jr. also forgets the polls that show most Americans lack information.

It IS about Time !!
Time to fight back against the OBVIOUS LIES !!

I wish we had Howard Dean as DNC Chairman
He was a little more feisty that Tim Kaine

FORGET BI-PARTISANSHIP
Let's Pass the Democratic Agenda

Somebody Bitch Slap Man Tan Boner

When Republicans were Beating up Nancy Pelosi, I didn't see Democrats sticking up for her

COME ON !!

Dems should be fighting back. They won the elections. Again, like an abused spouse, they are willing to kowtow to their abuser just to get the beatings to stop. It's about time, the Dems decided this is abuse by the media and needs to be fought. About time the Dems grow a pair and kick the GOP in theirs.

Why do these Democratic ads always have to be so lame? Good God, the GOP at least understands the importance of a god sound track and timing. The voice over is also annoying.

Myke and Al, you need to own the economy since it was Bush/Cheney who threw the coffers open wide for the rich to pillage and caused this to begin with.

Most Americans realize that Obama has only been in office for six months (this coming July 20th) and that the stimulus bill is only about 4 months old. How fast can it possibly work?

So the polls in two states look bad. There are still 3 1/2 years left to Obama's first term and 18 months till the mid-terms. With Republican's faring worse than Obama in the polls, I'd look to my own house first guys.

In the mean time - it's about damn time that Dems fight back against the mindless drivel that comes out of Republlican's mouths these days. Let's see if they can keep it up.
