QUOTE OF THE DAY.... Politico asked a variety of television talk-show hosts who their favorite guests are. MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski apparently had no trouble quickly naming her choice. (via Dave Weigel)
Brzezinski jumps at the chance to name Pat Buchanan "because he says what we are all thinking."
Um, Mika? Have you heard the kind of things Buchanan says?
If Buchanan's remarks reflect what the "Morning Joe" team is thinking, that's a problem.

C'mon -- you know that zillions of the Villagers are closet resentful racists and sexists. Just odd to hear them admit it.

Sooner or later, Buchanan will tell her to change her name to "Birchen" or "Birchwood", the better to assimilate properly. She may change her tune then.

yeah, buchanan does incarnate that flag-draped bible sinclair lewis was talking about...

Remember, Morning Joe is entertainment disguised as a news commentary program. They'd have people on sporting swastikas and shouting Kike! at the audience if it would get them ratings and they could somehow rationalize it as "news." Pat's version of political Tourette's Syndrome is just another self-indulgence to the Self-indulgent generation. The idea that you should be polite or controlled on the public airwaves is alien to them.

Mika's father must be wondering about now why he didn't use birth control.

I used to like Mika, but how could anyone, especially a woman, think Pat Buchanan says what they are thinking. He's worried about one thing and one thing only...old white guys.

Mika is an idiot. She's scary stupid. It's disturbing that she somehow passes for an interesting or informed commentator when she knows and understands so little. On top of that there is frequent reference on the morning coffee clatch to her being "liberal" or dem-leaning. Seriously?
Actually, the same can be said about Joe.

If Buchanan or Brzezinski really knew what we were thinking, they might want to disappear from public view.

in our inevitable, Idiocracy-esque future, experience in porn will be a requirement to be a woman in infotainment. Until then, heeeeeere's the nnext big thing: MIKA!

Mika has to be a huge disappointment to her father. Talk about the "grab a broom" quote Steve, I think Andrew has it right that this phrase could "go gold".

Well, don't put to much on her, after all I doubt Mika even knows what she is 'thinking' most of the time...much less anyone else.

So Mika thinks England and France blundered in declaring war on Germany after the Polish invasion?
Her dad must be proud.

At least we now know what Mika Brzezinski is thinking.

In fairness, Brzezinski may not have had any meaning at all in mind. "What we're all thinking" is sort of a cliché absolution of Buchanan's type, & maybe she just reached for the cliché at hand. (At one point billboards for Glenn Beck said he just said what we think.)
On the other hand, even if she really isn't thinking what he's saying, it's by such excuse-making that socially beneficial taboos against bigoted speech get eroded.

She meant exactly what it sounds like she meant.

"because he says what we are all thinking."
Banal, faux-insider neo-racist bromides from a past-his-sell-date basic cable gasbag?
What other world does she know?

This can't be true. Mika is never thinking anything.
