BIG VOTE TOMORROW NIGHT -- MAYBE.... The stage is set for a historic vote tomorrow night in the U.S. House on health care reform. This morning, however, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) conceded that it's not definitely going to happen tomorrow night, and it might even be delayed until next week.
There are some lingering problems getting Democratic holdouts on board...
House Democrats acknowledged they don't yet have the votes to pass a sweeping overhaul of the nation's health care system, and signaled they may push back the vote until Sunday or early next week. [...]
The apparent problem: Democrats have yet to resolve intraparty disputes over abortion funding and illegal immigrants' access to health care.
...and House Republicans may use various parliamentary tactics to stall, pushing off the vote.
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) is warning action on a health care overhaul could slip past a planned Saturday evening vote into Sunday -- or even Monday or Tuesday -- if House Republicans employ delaying tactics.
"I have not said the bill might get pushed back. But clearly, things happen," Hoyer said on a Friday morning conference call with reporters.
Hoyer added, "We're very close." It's his "expectation" that a vote on final passage will occur between 7 and 8 p.m. eastern.
A total of 218 votes will constitute a majority and pass the bill, which means, with no GOP votes, the leadership can withstand 40 Dems breaking ranks. By most counts, there are 25 "firm" votes from Democrats opposed to the bill, and a couple of dozen -- some on the left, some on the right -- that are in play.
President Obama was scheduled to make a personal appeal to House Dems on the Hill today, but the meeting was rescheduled for tomorrow in light of the Fort Hood shootings.

Do you have a link for the 25 firm no votes? I would like to see that list.

I received an e-mail from Organizing For America today asking me to immediately call my Blue Dog Democrat's D.C. office to urge his support for the health reform bill.
My Congressman is Rep. David Scott (D-GA13). I spoke with his staffer, Arthur, and expressed my support for the bill. I asked the staffer how Congressman Scott plans to vote. He said that Scott hasn't made his decision yet, and that he's waiting to hear from more constituents. Unbelievable.
Anyway, I told Arthur that I was aware that, as a Blue Dog, Congressman Scott is concerned about deficit reduction. So am I. I explained that a vote for health care reform with a robust public option is a vote for deficit reduction -- according to the CBO. Therefore, I would not accept deficit reduction as an excuse for voting against the public option. Arthur urged me to pass that information on to my friends and neighbors. Consider it done.
If you live in a Blue Dog's district (or even if you don't), it's important that you call him or her right now and tell them that a vote for health reform with a public option is a vote for deficit reduction -- and that you expect support for the bill when it comes up for a vote.

Make sure they take down your name and zip code.
Go!

Any Democrat who votes against the bill should be committing political suicide, especially if they're giving half-assed reasons like "the deficit" as an excuse.
I've long thought that there should be a basic set of requirements to hold national office -- things like, you know, knowing the Pledge of Allegiance and having read the Constitution, perhaps even having an IQ in the upper double-digits.
Dreams. It's good to have them.

Anyone else find it amusing, and disturbing, that the man who wants to be the next Republican Speaker of the House doesn't even know the preamble to the constitution, or thinks it's the preamble to the Declaration of Independence?
Talk about your Idiocracy.

No mention that after once again promising a vote on the Weiner Amendment (single payer), it has once again been pulled?

Oh, please by all means dither and stall some more. It's only 123 American lives that are lost each day you motherfuckers put this off. But that's no problemo when you're a group of insurgent freedom fighters busy saving America.

Guess we'll see whether or not my prediction about no vote being taken by the House is going get put to the test.
Still thinking that it's not going to happen. Jim Geraghty at the campaign spot over at NRO writes:
"House Republicans note, "As of today, at least 69 Democrats have expressed opposition to the Speaker’s health care bill."
The Democrats have 258 seats and Cantor said no Republican will vote for the bill. Pelosi can lose 40 and still have a bare 218-217 majority. Which 29 are going to have their arms twisted the most?"
If no vote takes place, then Obamacare truly is as dead as Ted Kennedy and will very soon be quickly buried.

Honestly, no one knows what's in the language of the bill.
It's not on line.
If you find it on line (disproving my source link), please let me know. I looked for it on the House web page, but could not find it.

Then you can do 122 dance steps every day, one for each American who died that day from lack of health insurance.
And you assume that you'll never be one of them.

Let's just get it fucking done, you know, like you being in the majority and like representing those who gave you a majority in the first place, mkay? Like, Oh my God WTF already!

Gawd, political disagreements aside, you are a rude f*cking jerk. Although something tells me that you'd only say things like this in an anonymous forum like this, that you probably are a creepy, friendless introvert in real life.
Health care is going to pass and if you find it so offensive that everyone should have affordable coverage maybe you should voluntarily give up your health insurance and refuse any and all medical treatment for any illness or ailments. In fact, that's what all conservatives should do if they have principles-- go galt on health care!
