HOUSEKEEPING NOTE.... A couple of things to note. First, Happy New Year. I haven't quite figured out how much work I'll be doing today, but I'll probably have a few items on an otherwise slow day. I'll also be around in case something dramatic and/or unexpected happens.

Second, a special thanks to all of you who contributed to the Monthly's annual fundraising drive. Your donations will make a big difference in 2010, on behalf of all of us here at the Monthly, we sincerely appreciate the support.

Steve Benen--the hardest working man in the blogosphere.

Thanks for great stuff over the holidays, especially the pushback against the right-wing faux freakout over the underware bomber!

P.S. I'm in Rio de Janeiro, specifically Copocabana, visiting my wife's family for the holidays. Even in paradise, I can't go without my daily/hourly Benen fix.

Steve, I really love your work. I just wonder how you post every hour. I know that is hard on you physically and doesn't do much good for your family life.

Washington Monthly and Political Animal is my favorite political site. You do a great job and I'll continue to get my daily (hourly!) fix in 2010. The best to you, Mr. Benen, in 2010.

And happy new year to you, Steve. Feel free to take a day of rest, we'll wait;>

Thank you Steve Benen, and happy new year.

there IS more than one Steve Benen, isn't there? Otherwise, I feel that by checking in so often here for all the news and opinion I get here I am exploiting a singular Steve Benen. Kind of like having a rug that made by child labor. My New Year Resolution -- to decrease the exploitation of Steve Benen, I will check in here less frequently during the day. Plus, he should get a tax credit of some sort.

Feliz Ano Nuevo Mr. and Ms. Benen. Thanks for another year of intelligent and well written analysis both in '09 and coming up in 2010.

The big event today? Ohio St. vs. U. of Oregon in the Rose Bowl. Go Ducks!!

And start off the year with a new browser. Josh has been contemplating the virtues of Chrome at TPM which prompted me to finally give it a shot and it's good. Mostly just the speed has me hooked for the time being.

Featurewise, I'm not finding it to be much different to use but it seems noticeably quicker. And can webpages be clearer/sharper with a different browser? They look that way to me with Chrome. I hate to bail on Mozilla, but for now I'm enjoying trying out Chrome.

Happy New Year Steve. I adore your site and can't get through my day without reading Political Animal. I followed you from Carpet Bagger...and have never been sorry.
Lets have a great new decade!
