A NEW ANGLE TO ONLINE POLITICS.... In a bizarre twist, unhinged state Rep. Sharron Angle actually won the Republican Senate nomination in Nevada this week. It's likely, then, that a lot of folks will be stopping by Angle's campaign website to learn more.
But a funny thing happens when one visits Angle's official campaign site: there's nothing there except a donation button.
In general, U.S. Senate candidates have plenty of resources on their sites -- a biography, an issues page, a calendar of events, volunteer opportunities, etc. Indeed, Angle's website used to have all of these things. She had a site -- filled with "spelling mistakes and grammatical errors" -- that had all kinds of information about Angle's nutty beliefs and background.
But now that she's actually won the primary, Angle's website has essentially been scrapped altogether. You can visit the homepage, donate money, and that's it. There's nothing else to click on.
Here's guessing someone at the National Republican Senatorial Committee gave Angle's team a call on Wednesday morning, demanding that the bizarre content -- reflecting the candidate's actual beliefs -- be taken down immediately.
Of course, the fact that voters can't go to Angle's site and learn a single thing about her isn't exactly a vote of confidence in her candidacy.
Update: Reader P.M. emails with this link to a cached FAQ from Angle's website, before the scrub. There's also this issues page.
It's going to be fun to compare the pre- and post-primary sites.
Second Update: Laura Conaway at MaddowBlog notes that the sourcecode on the site is also pretty revealing.

-And when that November morn arrives, the ever-ignorant voter will step into the booth and pull the Republican lever.
(The one with the arrow and the sign "Not Harry Reid. . .)

A blank slate that just asks for donations. Yup, that sums up most Republican candidates - and a few of our Democrats, too, I'm afraid.

There must be someone out there who can resurrect the original web page...

"Of course, the fact that voters can't go to Angle's site and learn a single thing about her isn't exactly a vote of confidence in her candidacy."
Thus accelerating the dumbing down of Republicans....from Reagan, to Bush, to Palin....
Now, instead of knowing what the morons actually think, they give no policy or positions....but, this seems to be what the Republican base seems to like...total ignorance.

Making it difficult for voters to learn about Angle is a feature, not a bug, for her campaign.

Yes, but is our president angry enough? Complete fucking retarded idiots need to know!

It is an unpleasant task, but in these times, a necessary one. Often when a Repugnant lands safely in candidacy after a primary or nominating process within the tribe, they then need to be recast for the general populace.
Angle will rejoin the corporate media "That's Entertainment" production schedule just as soon as she revamps her idiosyncrasies into a nice script. You know, like that chap Rand is doing in Kentucky...

The cached version is still out there.
My favorite quote "In 2007, Sharron Angle was an unpaid citizen lobbyist..."
So I Googled 'unpaid citizen lobbyist' and talk about crazy coming up, seems as if that phrase is code for leading the tax revolt.

That Web page with her statements was a little hard to access because of that triangle character in the URL. I shortened it to http://tinyurl.com/anglepolicy

They create their own reality.

I would assume that this 'donation only' web site is a temporary thing while the real site gets overhauled and polished.
Of course, that assumption is based on the further assumption that Angle plans to campaign like a normal candidate. As we have seen over and over, such reasonable assumptions don't always apply to candidates for the FIP (Fuckin' Idiot Party).

they are nearing the perfect state of Republican-candidate-being.
next they'll pick someone wholly unqualified and when you go to their web site it will just be a white screen -- a wholly blank slate upon which each ignorant, unhinged potential supporter can project his or her own unique fears, hate, bigotry, selfishness, greed and conspiracy theories.

She isn't being asked to stand aside like that guy in SC. The national party will back her all the way.
Reid is going to do everything in his power to make this race about her. The Republicans are going to do everything possible to make this race about Reid and Obama. My guess is Reid will win but it won't be as easy as a lot of pundits think. He is going to have to convince the voters that having a high profile Senator with a lot of clout is better for them than having a freshman backbench crazy.
He does have the problem of sharing the ballot with his son.

A Kantor style , Boehner vented , initiative recently asking (demanded !) for the rubes , BetterKnownAs , the paying public to post ideas for the nimble , lip smart republican gimmee a gimmick thunk machine . This may be the creationist evolution of gimme an idea quick , to dress up a candidate . Those dowdy clothes and out of step shoes will be replaced with "New Traditionalists" .

Sharron Angle: "Vote for Me (and give me money). No need to know what I believe or stand for."

I just went to look at it and was heartened to read:
"$-90,000.00 Raised
of our $175,000 goal"
The thermometer shows her at -51% of reaching her goal.
More evidence that up is down in Tea Bag land.

A website with nothing but a "donate" button is already one better than what Alvin Greene has got, in SC. It's all you need to know, anyway -- where to send the money -- and the Angle of Sharron has that covered.

A dead squirrel could have beaten Harry Reid in the general election.
The Reid campaign must be feeling very fortunate the Republican Party of Nevada abandoned the "dead squirrel" approach and threw their full support behind one of its nuts.

Too bad Reid hasn't the balls to confront her and backed down. But it's further demonstration of how spineless he is. Seriously, the dems couldn't find ANYONE to lead them?
