ANGLE BREAKS HER SILENCE (SORT OF).... Sharron Angle, the extremist Republican Senate candidate in Nevada, has been a little too embarrassed by herself to talk to the media lately, refusing all questions from local and national journalists. Yesterday, the radical conservative broke her silence. Sort of.

Angle greeted supporters at a Las Vegas restaurant, and spoke briefly to Nathan Baca, a reporter with the local CBS affiliate. Baca asked about Angle's stated position, as it appears on her website, about eliminating Social Security and Medicare. Angle replied, "You believe the Harry Reid lie."

Asked why Angle would like to eliminate the EPA, she added, "The issues are not about the EPA. The issues are homes here in Nevada."

The Republican Senate hopeful did have a 20-minute chat with a far-right local radio host. But Baca, who deserves a lot of credit for persistence, asked Angle to explain what she meant when she said, "If this Congress keeps going the way it is, people are really looking towards those Second Amendment remedies." (Given Angle's remarks about armed insurrection against the United States government, it's a relevant question.)

Angle not only refused to answer, she literally ran away from the reporter in the parking lot.

As a rule, when politicians are seen fleeing from journalists, they're either under indictment, have been caught doing something scandalous, or cowards.

After the unsuccessful effort to get answers from Angle, the right-wing candidate's campaign lashed out at the reporter, calling him "an idiot" and another term that can't be repeated.

What a political trainwreck.

Update: I've updated the post with this YouTube clip, via ThinkProgress, which loads better than the embed from the local affiliate.

well, she's pathetic, but is there a reason to think the voters of nevada are unwilling to vote for pathetic?

Oops. Found it.

"calling him "an idiot" and another term that can't be repeated"

Gee, taking Rahm lessons? At least Angle's campaign insulted a reporter, not her base.

Not. Ready. For. Primetime. Midway through her answer on social security she raised her voice and was almost yelling. Every ad against her should use those 5-7 seconds in this video that show her fleeing the reporter.

Wow, give that local reporter a Pulitzer. He actually posed tough questions and was persistent. Wish national media figures acted this way.

Doesn't this border on treason? This is very close to advocating armed insurrection against the government, which I believe is illegal.

The feminization of the GOP seems to be based on finding the dumbest broads in the country and packing their heads with RV bumperstickers. Maybe it's a Republican thing but lowering the discourse to this level actually does suggest government is being taken out, if not with the 2nd Amendment certainly with trailer-trash idiots like Angle.

Angles has run for office after office in Nevada and only been elected to our Assembly. And yes I do believe the Reid adds, she is shown on video. This woman is Nevada's version of Michele Bachmann.

NO NO NO. That reporter was being "shrill" and "combatitive." Why does the liberal media always try and attack sensible conservatives like Angle? Just because she supports the violent overthrow of the American government, that's no reason to browbeat her!

Another case of a pesky reporter asking "gotcha" questions like 'What do you believe?, and 'Why do you believe it?'. It's tough being a politician these days.

Yet another empty candidate spewing out generic responses from the Polititron 3000.

Not only are they nasty nuts in general, but we're finding out that a major suspicion and charge against the teapartiers and their sympathizers is true: they have more negative opinions about black people than the general population:

(Also, more negative about Latinos, illegal/immigrants, gays, etc.)

Certainly it can be repeated. Your blog isn't subject to the FCC television/radio rules. Exactly who said exactly what?

In tomorrow's WaPo, David Broder will denounce Baca for his vicious partisanship.

Ever seen CNN's Ed Henry ask a tough question like that? I've never seen it.

Sharon Angle needs to host squirt gun parties for local reporters.

Then, she'd be safe.

Ain't she sweet
A walking towards the street
She was asked very conscientiously
About that freighted comment implyin'
violent mayhem apropos to others
Ain't she sweet

I wonder how many drinks she had before started talking? She sounds like she is slurring her words. Is she a lush too?

Gods, that would be hilarious considering that she's previously said that she believed alcohol should be treated "just like marijuana" and be outlawed with a return to Prohibition. Given the standard on Republican Hypocrisy, I'd say there are pretty good odds she has a flask in her purse.

Oh c'mon now.
That's clearly hyperbole at best, and quite arguably outright disinformation.
In the video, it's painfully obvious that the nice lady -- the nice white lady -- is walking briskly.
You clearly can't say she "ran" at all, neither "literally," nor (after this at least -- God willing) in any other sense...
