FAKE RIGHT-WING PIMP SCHEMES TO SEDUCE REAL CNN REPORTER.... The problem isn't that there are far-right activists who engage in their brand of "investigative journalism." The problem is that these activists appear to be idiots.

CNN, for example, is working on a documentary called, "Right On The Edge," intended to highlight the work of young right-wing activists and their larger collective efforts. Part of the project involved reaching out to a man who famously pretended to be a pimp, and who apparently had quite a scheme in mind for CNN.

A conservative activist known for making undercover videos plotted to embarrass a CNN correspondent by recording a meeting on hidden cameras aboard a floating "palace of pleasure" and making sexually suggestive comments, e-mails and a planning document show.

James O'Keefe, best known for hitting the community organizing group ACORN with an undercover video sting, hoped to get CNN Investigative Correspondent Abbie Boudreau onto a boat filled with sexually explicit props and then record the session, those documents show.

The plan apparently was thwarted after Boudreau was warned minutes before it was supposed to happen.

The story is so remarkable, it reads like bad fiction. Boudreau reached out to O'Keefe, who was planning to star in a music video, and who was considering CNN's request to cover the filming of the video. O'Keefe set up a meeting with Boudreau in August, and asked that she meet him alone. Boudreau was led to believe they'd talk in his office, and she flew to Baltimore.

When she got there, Izzy Santa, who helps run O'Keefe's investigative journalism project, explained that O'Keefe had set up the meeting for a boat, where he would try to seduce Boudreau.

CNN later obtained a copy of a 13-page document titled "CNN Caper," which appears to describe O'Keefe's detailed plans for that day. [...]

[I]n a phone conversation, Santa confirmed the document was authentic. Listed under "equipment needed," is "hidden cams on the boat," and a "tripod and overt recorder near the bed, an obvious sex tape machine."

Among the props listed were a "condom jar, dildos, posters and paintings of naked women, fuzzy handcuffs" and a blindfold.

As part of the scheme, O'Keefe would reportedly record a video on the boat, explaining his intention to "have a little fun," adding, "Instead of giving her a serious interview, I'm going to punk CNN. Abbie has been trying to seduce me to use me, in order to spin a lie about me. So, I'm going to seduce her, on camera, to use her for a video."

James O'Keefe, the future of conservative political activism.

So, the spawn of Lee Atwater continue into another generation...and as evil as Karl Rove is, it appears these scumbags are even worse....

Thanks, Republicans....love them "family values" you're always preaching....

Like he ever had a hope in hell with her.

Good lord, do the right wing's delusions have no limits at all?

Posted by: JCT on September 29, 2010 at 11:29 AM | PERMALINK

Although this was a clever and sophisticated plan it would never have worked. James O'Keefe is a handsome, masculine, clean-cut white male and liberal women are obsessed with metrosexual ethnic men.

James O'Keefe, the future of conservative political activism.

The conservative movement has descended to such depths that I can't tell if Myke K comments are satirical or not.

Posted by: Archon on September 29, 2010 at 11:33 AM | PERMALINK

I don't understand his plan. If everything worked perfectly, he was going to record a CNN reporter sitting near condom jars and dildos and posters of naked women, all of which belonged to him?

I just don't see the up-side for him. This was going to ... what? Discredit CNN?

I'm confused.

James O'keefe needs a swift kick or punch to the ball sack! Why he gets any attention from the media baffles the mind. Please just go away..NOW!

It's a real window into the sick misogynist mind of O'Keefe. But then, what can you expect from a guy who has child prostitute fantasies?

Posted by: Tom Hilton on September 29, 2010 at 11:42 AM | PERMALINK

O'Keefe appears to have the mental maturity of a 10 year old.

People who know him well call him Jay Oh.

Posted by: hells littlest angel on September 29, 2010 at 11:48 AM | PERMALINK

What is this I don't even

Isn't this guy trying to get POSITIVE attention from the media? Fox News will ignore it and keep airing his "Capers", but hopefully the rest of the media will take a clue and stop giving this guy the time of day.

Posted by: Kris on September 29, 2010 at 11:48 AM | PERMALINK

Is there any truth in anything the conservatives say? Anything at all?

If the Republican Party was as interested in "the truth" as they pretend to be, this guy would never see the light of day again.

Instead, they've become "The Party of the Jersey Shore." They crave attention, lie, cheat, steal, bitch, get in people's faces, scream, protest, wave grammatically pathetic signs, reinvent arithmetic for a unhinged "Pledge" and flash their abs every chance they get.

Seriously, what is the difference between Christine O'Donnell or this asshole and "The [I can't believe I'm typing this] Situation?" Other than "The Situation" actually having money, I mean.

Why did this "sting" have to be about kinky sex? Dildoes? Handcuffs? WTF?

He msut have her confused with Gretchen Carlson.

I have a cunning plan...

Posted by: KK on September 29, 2010 at 11:52 AM | PERMALINK

WITH apologies to Styx
Yeah, I'm sittin' on this bar stool talking like a damn fool
Got the twelve o'clock news blues
And I've given up hope for the afternoon soaps
And a bottle of cold brew
Is it any wonder I'm not crazy?
Is it any wonder I'm sane at all?

I'm so tired of losin', I've got nothing to do
And all day to do it
So, I go out cruisin', but I've no place to go
And all night to get there
Is it any wonder I'm not a criminal?
Is it any wonder I'm not in jail?

Is it any wonder I've got too much time on my hands?
Ticking away with my sanity
I've got too much time on my hands
It's hard to believe such a calamity
I've got too much time on my hands
And it's ticking away - ticking away from me

Too much time on my hands
(T-T-T-T-T-Ticking away)
Too much time on my hands
(And I don't know what to do with myself)
Too much time on my hands

Too much time on my hands
Too much time on my hands
Too much time on my hands

Now, I'm a jet-fuel genius
I can solve the world's problems without even trying
I got dozens of friends, and the fun never ends
That is, as long as I'm buying
Is it any wonder I'm not the President?
Is it any wonder I'm null and void?

Is it any wonder I've got too much time on my hands?
Ticking away with my sanity
I've got too much time on my hands
It's hard to believe such a calamity
I've got too much time on my hands
And it's ticking away - ticking away from me

awww you left out the best part. From the script and Boudreau's blog

O'Keefe: "This bubble-headed-bleach-blonde who comes on at five ..."

Boudreau: " ... the ironic thing is that I'm really a brunette."

Ouch ! looks like the fake pimp got punked.

Posted by: BigDaddyRich on September 29, 2010 at 12:20 PM | PERMALINK

Zorro makes an important point. We can assume that after the Acorn caper, O'Keefe is the GOP gold standard in stooge-grade ratfucking. (Not a mastermind-in-waiting, this one.) Young Republicans meeting at various schools have no doubt been discussing O'Keefe with admiration. His failed stunt on the boat would have raised his stock immeasurably with such an audience. Twits.

This goes beyond mischief - this is crazy narcissistic behavior. He fits the bill perfectly.

In order for a person to be diagnosed with narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) they must meet five or more of the following symptoms:

* Has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)
* Is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
* Believes that he or she is "special" and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions).
* Rarely acknowledges mistakes and/or imperfections
* Requires excessive admiration
* Has a sense of entitlement, i.e., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations
* Is interpersonally exploitative, i.e., takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends
* Lacks empathy: is unwilling or unable to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others.
* Is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her
* Shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitude.

Give the kid a few minutes to team up with Karl Rove over at Fox and the story will be that he punk'd CNN by leaking them phony plans and emails just to prove CNN will run with a story before confirming it. Then O'Keefe will be paraded around as a right wing journalistic hero for exposing the biased standards and behavior of CNN.

Posted by: martin on September 29, 2010 at 1:40 PM | PERMALINK

That the ACORN snafu happened, that the government removed all funding, that it has been shown concretely that everyone was punked on this, and that the government has not returned funding to ACORN, is yet another reason for an enthusiasm gap.

Here we have what has been traditionally a very, very effective get-out-the-vote and voter registration effort - and one which largely brought minorities (who usually support Democrats, dontcha know) into the voting dynamic - which has had all government funding removed, subsequently effectively shutting them down. And we now know and have known soon after this took place that this was all smoke and mirrors, that a good organization was taken down under false pretenses.

Yet never a word about revisiting ACORN and restoring their funding. Why would that be? Where is the outrage?

Posted by: terraformer on September 29, 2010 at 1:45 PM | PERMALINK

He thought she was "seducing" him? I think this is wishful thinking on his part. You know, of the "oh yeah, she wants me" sort...

Among the props listed were a "condom jar, dildos, posters and paintings of naked women, fuzzy handcuffs" and a blindfold.

I'm picturing Boudreau's reaction as something like Betsy's (Cybill Shepherd) when she agreed to a date with Travis Bickle, and he took her to a porno film. And O'Keefe thought he'd pull off -- pardon the expression -- some kind of seduction? I have a feeling that'd be one videotape no amount of misleading editing could rescue.

Hilarious!

In order for a person to be diagnosed with narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) they must meet five or more of the following symptoms:

I'd guess that most of the rightwing political and media leaders score a perfect 10 on those criteria.

Posted by: GringoNoraca on September 29, 2010 at 1:59 PM | PERMALINK

I am with gussie on this one and cannot for the life of me piece to gether what the endgame was supposed to be?

What I can envision is some weird, shaky video of O'Keefe, wearing his best ascot and his hair greased down ala Spanky, sitting down next to Boudreau while holding two martini glasses. He leans in toward her while she politely, but nervously, leans away. The closer he leans into her, the farther she leans back until she is forced to bump into a jar of condoms precariously set on the edge of the nigthstand. As the condoms spill out, Boudreau instinctively tries to catch as many as she can. However, when she moves to do so, she triggers the dildos O'Keefe has strangely positioned like a line of dominoes around the cabin. Embarrassed and flustered, she begins to move toward the door and so doesn't notice O'Keefe sneaking behind her. Before she can react, O'Keefe handcuffs her to something called a "sex tape machine."

At this point we hear Boudreau yelling as O'Keefe backs out of the cabin snapping pictures with the Polaroid in his right hand while aggressively squeezing his nipples with his left. Before the video cuts out we hear O'Keefe's voice say to Boudreau, "This will *destroy* CNN!" Then, faintly, we hear him say, "When Breitbart gets a load of this scandal he's bound to make me 'Best Boy.'"

When next we see the video, it is on You Tube as part of a never-aired episode of Fox&Friends in which Gretchen Carlson has Brian Kilmeade on the floor as she presses her stiletto heel into his testicles, while screaming at Steve Doocy (off-camera)that he is a failure and that his mother never loved him. Kilmeade glances in the direction of the camera, drooling, in an apparent state of ecstasy. As the camera moves, we see a silhouette of Doocy making what appear to be massturbatory gestures as he pleads with Carlson to "tell me more!"

After all this, we are- each one of us- left with nothing more to say than, "Well played, James Marion Francis Carroll Cindy O'Keefe. Well played."

I only know what I've read here, but what is CNN and Boudeau going to do about this? That O'Keefe thought he could pull this off on CNN and this so-called journalist says more about CNN than about him. We apparently know who and what O'Keefe is. Where is CNN's follow-up exposure of this "plot?"
Once again, CNN and the rest of the MSM are shown for who they are: crass hypocrites and whores to big money. They would protect the rapist of their daughters if it meant covering for their bosses.

This scheme will go far to bolstering O'Keefe's credibility

Posted by: g on September 29, 2010 at 2:56 PM | PERMALINK

@ Perspecticus: blathering, indeed. I didn't read the original article carefully and "ASS-U-MEd" that O'Keefe was perpetrating a hoax on CNN of which they were not aware. It seems that they were actually looking into it. So, I guess the real question, which may still be blathering, is: How far will CNN go to expose the larger picture of Republican/Conservative/Tea Party lies and deceptions? Are they up to a full-on investigative piece that they will show multiple times in prime time?

Posted by: st john on September 29, 2010 at 3:06 PM | PERMALINK

It occurs to me that O'Keefe still wins, in that he got to spend a narcissistic afternoon on the boat with all that sex gear.

I, too, was puzzled and amused by the reference to a "sex tape machine." Then it hit me: wannabe pimp James O. Keefe has botched an appropriation of a James Brown line:

"Fellas, I want to get into it. Movin', doin' it, you know, like a sex [tape] machine. Can I count it off?"

Oh yeah. "Mr. Please Please" himself doesn't need dildos and gadgets to sex up a woman. (Unless you count a shotgun and some PCP, and I don't.)
