MAYBE SHE SMUDGED HIS SHOE?.... After Ginni Thomas left that creepy voicemail for Anita Hill, it's made for some amusing mockery online. In the jokes, victims are supposed to be the ones apologizing -- Muslims should tell Juan Williams they're sorry; underage pages should apologize to Mark Foley, etc.
Brian Beutler, who's had more than a few of these, joked yesterday, "Hey, MoveOn activist? It's that Rand Paul fan here. The one with the size 13s? I'm just calling to see if perhaps you're ready to apologize."
Let's not forget how exceedingly difficult it is to take satirical shots at conservatives, given how farcical real-life is.
Tim Profitt -- the former Rand Paul volunteer who stomped on the head of a MoveOn activist -- told local CBS station WKYT that he wants an apology from the woman he stomped and that she started the whole thing.
"I don't think it's that big of a deal," Profitt said. "I would like for her to apologize to me to be honest with you."
Just so we're absolutely clear, the guy who stomped on a defenseless woman's head wants her to apologize to him.
Maybe she smudged his shoe or something.

She aggressively inserted her head between his boot and the pavement, thereby causing him much mental anguish and aggravating his bad back. Sounds reasonable to me!

This is the kind of day that drives writers at The Onion and The Daily Show to drink. When life IS satire, what can satirists do?

Of course she should apoligize after her jack-booted face was videoed grinding UP on the poor mans defenseless sneaker?

Profitt deserves the harshest penalty allowed by law for his assault because it was politically motivated, potentially life-threatening, and his obvious lack of repentance.

I see an all-purpose T shirt/bumper sticker: "Apologize, Bitch!"

This isn't new. The precedent was set with Dick Cheney getting an apology from Harry Whittington after shooting him in the face.

Has anyone commented yet on the fact that Profitt is a perfect name for a libertarian?

I hope his lack of remorse makes it more likely he will be sentenced to jail.

Being an unhinged, caveman Libertarian means never having to say you're sorry.

Hey, give the guy a break. Do you know how much ribbing he's getting down at the VA hospital that a guy of his size was not only unable to flatten that woman's head but that her unsquashable head actually caused his spine to require a sublaxation?
Damn right she owes an apology. How much does she think his ego can take?

I didn't see the video until late last night. I accepted the claims that he didn't really hurt her at face value, accepted that there was some ambiguity in that film clip.
Then I saw it unfold. He pushed down hard. Maybe it wasn't a rapid stomp, but there was a lot of force behind that slow-mo action.
Now I really have to wonder about the sanity of the people defending this clown. Are you really that blinded by your ideology that you would accept that kind of violence?

This guy's going to get his day in court. How about the guy who grabbed her and leaned on her until she couldn't bear his weight and fell to the curb? How about the guy that I just saw in another video who stepped on the side of her leg where her it was lying between the curb and the street? I'm pretty sure there's a significant bruise there. Those two should be easy pickings.

Ha ha ha thats funny, like some representative for the American people should apologize to BP for spilling the oil in the gulf........Oh Wait...nm

A little street theatre may be necessary. A female protester shows up at a Dem rally and is wrestled to the group and stepped on identically, preferably by dark-skinned people.
FoxSaudi News will go into level red for 24 hours, until all involved explain that it was an experiment in news coverage.

I'm still awaiting an apology from the families of all those Iraqis who where annihilated on the evening of Shock and Awe. Those ungrateful bastards...

For awhile now I have come to believe that the Republican party has become insane, literally. Their thoughts (via their words) and actions becoming more and more divorced from reality. This just reinforces my belief.

I'm surprised more people haven't been charged in the incident -- they should not be hard to track down, because of the video evidence.
And Profitt -- yeah, a great name for a libertarian, especially since it's misspelled.

This is too easy and usually pointless, but just imagine if this entire story were about a Democrat. Fox would have to buy a whole other cable network (and give in to Cablevision) just to carry the wall-to-wall apoplexy. And if some Acorn like member was the stomper?
But what am I saying. The storm troopers are on the other side.

Narcissism. That's the only explanation for this.

I don't know if anyone else had this reaction, but my first (and last) view of the stomp reminded me immediately of the opening scene of "American History X" where Edward Norton's character kills a guy by curb stomping him. (You can find the scene on YouTube if you have the stomach for it.)

The look on the man's face when he looked up and saw the camera said it all. Certainly one of those "oh shit I'm busted" moments.

Proffit says she instigated the altercation (by repeated showing up at Rand Paul events and holding up a satirical sign to insult Paul). He and Paul's other supporters intended to wrestle her to the ground and detain her until the police arrived to arrest her. For what, I don't know. Being rude, maybe.
The best (and by best, I mean most horrible and incomprehensible) part is that the guy who forced her to the ground was wearing a Don't Tread on Me button. I guess it's OK if someone else is trod upon.

Profitt said he was using her foot to hold her down because he has chronic back problems. My guess is his back hurts from dragging his knuckles all day.

Ms. Valle, the victim, made the perfect point on Countdown last night. These so-called constitutionalists took away her first amendment right (freedom of speech).
That was assault; whether or not he stomped on her head or shoulder (as he claims) doesn't matter. She suffered a concussion, maybe from being thrown to the ground rather than from Proffit's shoe*. I'm glad she's pressing charges. Mr. Profitt and cohorts deserve jail time and then community service.
*At least when Bush was assaulted by a shoe he was able to duck.

I would like to tell Profitt where I'd like to put MY shoe. Except it would end up kicking him in the head as well.

A true Kentucky gentleman! I'm sure his momma is so proud! Everyone knows (or at least should know) it's proper form to wait until at least four others are holding a lady down before stepping on her neck. She should apologize for making him wait so long to do the honors. My word, have these liberal women no upbringing?

Conservatives mantra:
Apology = weakness
If you never apologize, you're never wrong.

From the local news report: "When we spoke to Profitt, he asked that his face not appear on camera, but he wanted to defend himself. "She's a professional at what she does," Profitt said, referring to the MoveOn.org activist, "and I think when all the facts come out, I think people will see that she was the one that initiated the whole thing."
I'm amazed it actually took a whole day for him to start blaming the victim. Is anyone surprised this dipshit is unaware his face is already plastered all over the intertubes?

Only in AmeriKKKa in the great state of KKKentucky can a redneck stomp on the HEAD of a woman in full view of fellow KKKristians and KKKentuckians on camera, then claim that SHE should apologize to HIM. She had it coming.

I followed the links at Huffington Post to the one that had the video of the incident. It was a truly disgusting spectacle and there should definitely be charges against more of the Rand Paul thugs involved in the attack.
What is almost as disgusting is that there were 3 or 4 commenters in the discussion thread of that post, who were still out there today trying to blame her for the incident and pretty successfully derailing the thread through multiple posts and the pushback they generated.
This idea that by trying to get close to Paul to be get a picture has both him and her sign (RepubliCorp) in it, she somehow crossed a line that could be seen as threatening to Paul or otherwise justified her being forcefully restrained AT ALL by Paul's operatives (who note, are NOT the police and are NOT licensed security personell) is idiotic and offensive. And this contrasts with the Tea Partiers who have literally appeared outside Obama events carrying deadly weapons but were left alone as long as they weren't seen as an immediate threat to the President.
