ZOMBIE FEARS STILL SURROUND ACORN.... One of the more entertaining polls of the 2010 midterm season came in mid-September, when Public Policy Polling found that 23% of Republicans feared ACORN may help Democrats steal the election.

ACORN permanently closed its doors in March, six months before the poll was taken.

We're now a full year since ACORN's demise, and wouldn't you know it, the fears have gotten worse, not better. (via Dave Weigel)

GOP voters think that the ACORN threat has gone down significantly. In November of 2009 we found 52% of Republicans thought ACORN had stolen the election for Barack Obama in 2008. Now only 25% think the organization will steal the election for him again next year, while 43% think it will not and 32% aren't sure yet.

So let me get this straight. In September, nearly a fourth of Republicans feared that a group that no longer exists would commit electoral fraud on a grand scale. Six months later, with ACORN a more distant memory, even more Republicans are afraid of the group that no longer exists.

I suspect there's a part of the population that will, forevermore, fear that ACORN will work quietly to do nefarious things. But that doesn't make it any less ridiculous.

This little post says more about a dysfunctional parties electoral success than any other way of framing it . They prey on fear and pound the insecurities of their victims , Republicans and by default Americans .

Boy oh boy! ACORN helped low income citizens register for the vote - how undemocratic according to FOXNEWS and its minions!

ACORN provided legal assistance to low income citizens - how undemocratic according to FOXNEWS and its minions!

ACORN provided life-assistance resources for low income citizens - how undemocratic according to FOXNEWS and its minions!

ACORN is now dead - how ultra-democratic according to FOXNEWS and its minions!

Now these far right ne'erdowells fear a resurrection along the lines of a particular son of a particular deity? It may seem that way, the way their fear polled recently!

We are working our way through a whole lot of stupid here in our beloved nation, without any guarantee we'll be successful becoming smarter anytime soon! -Kevo

and it says everything about the propaganda wing of the Republican Party AKA Faux Nooze.

War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength.

But, they're like HYDRA, don't you see? Immortal. Cut off one limb, and another will take its place. They have a secret army of fanatical followers and limitless resources.

My favorite part about ACORN/Soros and other Right-Wing Boogie Men is that Repugs think nothing of the Koch brothers or Rupert Murdoch or any number of oligarchs who really do have incredible control over our political process.

Sometimes I think that we have already gone back to an aristocracy, only one more subtle than the old versions. Ok, maybe subtle isn't the word; how about camouflaged?

Of course from the Right Wing pov there's nothing wrong with the uber rich having all of the cash and all of the influence. It's those damned dirty poor and uneducated who must be cut off and shut out.

ACORN is just a placeholder in some minds for electoral fraud committed by Democrats that involves black people. Machine Politics in black districts, sometimes for black politicians, but always for Democrats.

And black churches do mobilize the vote fairly well, and blacks historically vote 95% for democrats - the highest of any ethnic group. All of which is understandable, not illegal, immoral or unfair.

There's a propaganda benefit to giving any election the taint of illegitimacy, so you've got deep pockets paying for dissemination of untruths, and a readily believable narrative, a well-worn cognitive rut, for the untruths to exploit.

the "Fraud" the GOTP fears is otherwise referred to as "voting".

These are the same folks who think the Health Care Act has been repealed. They do not know anything.

I'd love to know which 95 electoral votes that 52% thought were stolen, back in November 2009.

Economic insecurity , health , work , and domicile all at the discretion and whims of our betters .
Just the chance to work in a company town opens up new worlds !
Common law , which puts every man equal before the law . A blind justice that only coincidently seems to love money . Coincidence or common sense ?
We report you choose .
An aristocracy , not crony capitalism , or heaven forbid nepotism .
The Aristocrat party's love and respect for Obama , despite his other than European heritage because of their deep devotion to merit .

Its not really about Acorn, Acorn is just a synonym. ACORN = Lazy and/or Poor, and/or Black People.

Between ACORN and the imposition of Sharia Law, the Right has so much to be fearful about.

I think they must not get enough sleep because they are looking under the bed all the time. Even a non-existent entity (ACORN) looms as a grave threat. Can the international Zionist conspiracy be far behind?

Of course they stole the election, They're Black!

You forget, many of them are supporters of a Confederacy that ceased to exist over a century ago. They are quite comfortable loving and hating things in the past.

The fact that ACORN doesn't exist anymore doesn't mean they can't hate it.

Posted by: biggerbox on March 15, 2011 at 6:35 PM | PERMALINK

It's not just ACORN.

The Templars are also helping steal elections from the Republicans. Why else would George W. Bush no longer be President?

In all honestly, I really believe that there is a percentage of the right that will answer in the affirmative ANY question that presumes a negative on the left - if you were to poll and ask, "Do you believe Barack Obama is a space alien working to harvest our children's spinal fluid" you would very likely get a greater than 10% "Yes" result. The question doesn't matter, just that it presents a negative-left image.

It is clearly very terrifying to be a conservative. There are boogeymen under every bed and in every closet.

Well, at least we now know who all those "low information" voters are - Republican/Teabaggers!

Its stories like this that remind me that some parts of our society haven't gotten any more sophisticated or intellectually developed than the 1600s when there were witch-burnings and blood-letting. Stupid fools.

I guess I would call it yet another testament to the ability of the right wing noise machine to get people to believe just about any bull..t they come up with.

Birthers, death panels, global warming, ACORN....

The beat goes on, fueled by lies, but they get results.
