I remember this Newsweek cover, which was talked about for years after it came out. When I was in college in the early 80s, one of my old professors said he never thought he'd live to see the day when it would be thought there could be too much education. Full circle today. There were few jobs, so a number of us did the ditch digging, table waiting...for several years while others went back to school for advanced degrees. Big difference was that students college was so ridiculously expensive and graduates didn't have a boatload of debt.
