Cloudy Outlook in the Sunshine State
Florida Today has a good piece about prepaid college savings plans in Florida—where tuition at state universities increased by as much as 15 percent these year, 9 percentage points above the usual annual norm—and how it is becoming more and more difficult for families to afford to enroll in them. Since the plans allow families to lock in tuition rates and their current levels, this is potentially a big financial hit down the road.
