Yesterday’s decision provided much needed clarity to the question of, “What happens if a state loses its waiver?” But there are still no clear answers to questions of what waiver states should be doing, what waiver states are actually doing, and most important of all… whether any of it is working to improve schools, teaching, and student performance. With Washington’s fate settled and a two-year waiver renewal just over the horizon in 2015, it’s past time to start answering them.
