The Reform Problem(s)
Higher education reform is a matter of great interest to the Washington Monthly. It’s also interesting to education advocates, business leaders, and the institutions themselves. According to a piece by Jane Wellman put out by the National Association of College and University Business Officers, however, the stakeholders don’t agree about what’s going on.
This one chart, from the article, explains it all:
No obviously these people have very different levels of influence but the chart is telling. The real problem is that everyone thinks the problem is different.
These dramatic disagreements about the nature of the what’s wrong indicate that coming up with solutions is going to be pretty challenging.
