The student government of the Community College of Allegheny County has approved the creation of a campus chapter of Students for Concealed Carry on Campus (CCAC), a national organization that promotes allowing college students, faculty, and staff to carry concealed weapons on campus. According to an article in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:
David Hoovler, a CCAC spokesman, said student government is expected to grant final approval on March 2, pending two changes to the group’s application that Mr. Hoovler said [the student applicant] has agreed to make. He said one is to remove a provision to collect membership dues, since the group would receive student activity money, and the other removes CCAC from liability for group members’ activities off campus .
Right. Because surely no one can think of a reason why colleges might want to take far-reaching steps to limit the presence of guns on campus.
