Jonathan Rowe is currently a fellow at the Tomales Bay Institute. He was an editor at The Monthly from 1983 to 1986. He was a staff writer for The Christian Science Monitor, a senior fellow at Redefining Progress and has published in The Atlantic Monthly. He is working on a book about the disconnect between the way economists and policy experts portray the world and the way people actually experience it. He's been writing for YES! Magazine, the San Francisco Chronicle, Sierra Magazine, Ode and Adbusters, among others. His most recent article for The Monthly is The Coffee House Candidate: The engrossing tale of a Seattle cab driver's ill-fated run for office.
