Blog
Man, what a difficult day! But here are some good reads you might enjoy while your blogger gets his act together:
* Igor Volsky outs Snowe and Collins (along with four retired GOP senators) as having supported a federal contraceptive services mandate.
* Matthew Bowman explores the well-known LDS tradition of private-sector social welfare activism that might make Romney care about the “very poor,” but not via public programs.
* E.J. Graff digs into the backstory of the 9th Circuit Prop 8 decision, and why many marriage equality advocates consider it a sideshow.
* Doubling down on the “war on religion” meme, Ricky Santorum claims Obama wants to force Catholic Church to ordain women as priests. Wish it was that easy, Rick!
* Newt heads to Golden State to raise cash. Guess Adelson’s checkbook has limits.
* QPac poll, usually not very favorable to Obama, shows POTUS leading Mitt in VA despite negative job approval ratings.
And, in case politics isn’t absurd enough for you:
* HuffPost Celebrity commemorates five-year anniversary of the death of Anna Nicole Smith.
Other than monitoring polls and jibber-jabber, I’m not expecting much overnight. But don’t expect issues with Thursday blogging!
Selah.

Santorum said Obama wants to force the Catholic Church to hire Women Priests on Fox News. Of course, that is the opposite of true, but by tomorrow morning I will be hearing the gospel according to Santorum from my Fox News Fan family.
I wish 27% of the population paid attention at all.

Man, Ricken Little is one scared chicken. I realize he’s just practicing hyperbole but it does come across as panicky stuff that to him and other fundamentalists is the Worst Possible Thing.
At least he didn’t extend it by saying those female priests would then need to get hitched to horses and honeymoon in Russia or something equally absurd.

Oh Rick, why do you hate women so? The non evangelical female population are not going to cotton to your views dude.

The LDS relief system serves members in good standing and comes with many strings attached. The local church elders expect to exercise considerable control over how children are raised, living arrangements of single mothers, etc. The church encourages members to sign up for all government benefit programs for which they are eligible on the grounds that they help pay for them; I have no argument with that. Sadly, this system means that "gentiles" living in Mormon communities who are not in the church system find that the public social safety net is rather porous.

What the hell was that security problem last night? It looked like your site got hijacked by a rogue advertisement, or compromised in some other way that took readers to some malware site.

Great.
Here comes another election where the important issues of war and control of our economy by plutocrats will be ignored.
Just imagine what we could do here in this country if we didn't devote ourselves to blowing up other people for corporate profits.
Watch Bank of America and Citibank stock over the next few days, it will tell you every thing you need to know about President Obama's new-found commitment to justice for everyone, no matter how rich and powerful.
