February 23, 2012 12:56 PM Lunch Buffet

By Ed Kilgore

Here’s a brain food/junk food sampler for your luncheon enjoyment:

* George Will glares imperiously at Rick ‘n’ Mitt and calls both of them losers.

* Nate Silver estimates Romney’s LDS support in AZ gives him a built-in nine-point advantage.

* Amidst talk of Ron Paul serving as practically a Romney surrogate in attacks on Santorum, Rand Paul allows as how he might be willing to become Mitt’s Veep choice.

* And speaking of Mormons and Veeps: BuzzFeed’s McKay Coppins reports Marco Rubio was member of LDS from age 8 to 13. Huh!

* Alexander Bolton says Israeli military strike on Iran could screw up U.S. economy and harm Obama’s re-election prospects. Really? No kidding?

And in nonpolitical (in the conventional sense) news, the Motion Picture Academy has pulled Sacha Baron Cohen’s Oscar Awards tickets because they fear he will dress as character in upcoming movie. Can’t have self-promotion on the Red Carpet, can we?

Back shortly.

Well, there goes any hope of a break in the tedium

Conservatives are well aware that their beating of the war drums are already having an effect on gas prices, while simultaneously complaining about high gas prices. Just another piece of evidence that Republicans seek to sabotage our economy for their political gain, even if it means going to war to do it.

CJ - you are spot on. A simple GOP ploy, ruin something or create a mess, blame the Dems for it and hope to get political points. We'll be hearing lots more about "Obama's High Gas Prices" in the months to come. Unless they return to what they were a year ago, when the GOP did not give Obama any credit for lowering the prices....funny, huh.

Sorry, but the situation is far worse than the economic impact and Obama's re-election of an Israeli military strike on Iran. Any such action by Israel will have grave moral implications for Obama, as well:

typical Israeli position, Perspecticus. Let America do the dirty work. Let America's leaders take the blame, so Israeli leaders can huff and puff and act tough with no risk. I wish Obama would just say ..fine, Bibi, go ahead attack. best wishes.

Apropos of nothing in particular, why haven't we been reading/hearing more about Little Ricky's close connection to Casino Jack and his ilk back in the not so old days:

    "How Dirty Boys Get Clean

Puppy champion Rick Santorum was amongst the recipients of that Dirty Jack Abramoff money. The infamous author of the so called "anti-puppymill bill - The PAWS Bill - SB 1139/HB 2776 - scrambled to dump the dirty money some charity in an effort to cleanse himself just in time - he's trying to keep his seat in the Senate.

But look closely at his photo. Notice that both sides of Santorum's mouth are open? That's because the talented Mr. Rick is blessed with the ability to speak from both sides of his mouth at the same time.

On the left side of his mouth, Rick's saying we need lobbying reform, so in a laugh-out-loud spin move, Santorum is leading the GOP charge for ethics reform, along side of John McCain, holding just-in-time hearings to "clean up Congress".

Now on the right side of his mouth, Rick is thanking all those generous lobbyists for contributing to his 2006 reelection campaign. In fact, Rick Santorum is soooo popular with lobbyists, he's been named as the country's top recipient of campaign contributions from lobbyists for the 2006 election cycle. I wonder - is there any lobby money behind PAWS???????"

    A G(Rand) VEEP Scheme? (Limerick)

Does Ron Paul have a plan rather grand
In helping Mitt further his brand?
    Maybe Mitt promised Paul:
    ďIf youíll kindly play ball,
Then Iíll hand the V.P. slot to Rand.Ē

I guess the Hollywood types love Sasha Baron Cohen's "witty, masterful comedy" as long as the hoax, and the laugh, isn't on them.
