So just as the revelation circulates that Sen. Marco Rubio was a member of the LDS church for a big chunk of his childhood (roughly co-extensive with his family’s residency in Las Vegas), it’s come out that this and other little-known details about the Florida senator will be retailed in a book to be published—surprise, surprise!—this autumn, when it’s entirely possible he’ll be on the GOP national ticket.
Per the Miami Herald:
“An American Son is confidential until publication, so we’re not sharing too many details,” Adrian Zackheim, [Penguin Books subsidiary] Sentinel’s president and publisher said in a written statement. “But I can tell you there’s a lot that people don’t know about Senator Rubio and his family and will find very interesting in the book.”
Rubio, who has struggled with debt in the past, probably got an advance that will make him a rich man. Conservatives love him and his story. Former First Lady Nancy Reagan tapped him to speak at her husband’s library in California last year.
Meantime, liberals are starting to trash the rising Republican star, in part over his conservative positions on immigration and entitlement programs like Social Security and Medicare.
Controversy like that can be bad on the campaign trail. But it can sell books.
No question about that. Can you imagine what would have happened if Sarah Palin had somehow had the foresight to publish a book about herself that hit the shelves and the conservative book clubs just after her selection as Veep candidate in 2008? She could have probably skipped doing her reality show and saved the life of that poor halibut she clubbed to death for the cameras.

Rubio's brush with Mormonism is probably enough to keep him off Romney's VP short list. Southern Xtians would surely balk at a ticket with TWO Mormons.

You do know it's normal to club or even shoot large fish like halibut when taken for food because they stay alive and very dangerous for some time above water?
Not that I want to defend Palin or even saw the clip you're referring to...
