March 08, 2012 12:28 PM Lunch Buffet

By Ed Kilgore

My laptop’s really acting up. Time for me to reboot, and you to have a lunch break. Here’s some mental eats:

* It’s International Women’s Day. There’s a lot to celebrate, but do not miss Ann Friedman’s baleful (and savagely funny) look at how women are being treated in American politics at the moment.

* Another righteously angry woman, the blogger Angry Black Lady, notes Georgia newspaper political cartoon depicting the president as Sandra Fluke’s pimp.

* Joe the Plumber, having won a quasi-worthless GOP congressional nomination on Tuesday in Ohio, goes onto CNN and freaks out.

* Pat Robertson comes out for legalization of pot. Was he high?

* Justice Department threatens Apple and four major publishers with suit to stop alleged price-fixing on e-books.

And, in other technology news:

TIME article blames iPad3 mania on common condition called “neophilia.”

Back before too long. If you run out of stuff to read, be sure to read this.

The link to Angry Black Lady is broken for some reason.

The cartoon about Obama and Fluke is here: http://www.wnd.com/2012/03/tax-funded-sex-its-a-simple-request/

It's by Mike Lester, a political cartoonist based in my home town, Rome Georgia. He's just about the most disgusting human being you're likely to come across.

That cartoon is not to be believed. Rome, Georgia. Must be a real peach of a place, especially for blacks.

Pat Robertson was *not* high. He was however winded from just having bench pressed 2000 pounds

  • Daryl McCullough on March 08, 2012 2:12 PM:

My friends in Rome who are black and/or liberal tend to be very quiet about their political opinions.

'“It’s completely out of control,” Mr. Robertson said. “Prisons are being overcrowded with juvenile offenders having to do with drugs. And the penalties, the maximums, some of them could get 10 years for possession of a joint of marijuana. It makes no sense at all.”'

Holy Crap! I ... I agree with Pat Robertson about something???

Pardon me. I think my brain just suffered a short circuit.

Slight correction - Angry Black Lady is both a real person with a real name and the blog that she runs.

The particular post on the Obama pimp cartoon was made by "Zandar" not ABL.

I tried to read the "Joe the Plumber" article, but my dog was going all Wurzelbacher* on me.

*Wurzelbacher - a new word meaning "to whine in an annoying fashion in order to get attention."

Daryl McCollough, I grew up in Cave Spring, near Rome, and go back there frequently. You are right... liberals (Black and otherwise) keep their political leanings to themselves... AND Mike Lester is the scum of the earth.

i thought neophilia was love of keanu reeves' performance in the matrix movies...
