June 12, 2012 5:15 PM African-Americans Race Into Romney Column!

By Ed Kilgore

Along the same lines as the BuzzFeed confection on the united “Clintonite” critique of Obama as too negative and partisan, there’s a shrieking headline at Business Insider: “Obama Is Doing Stunningly Bad Among African-Americans in North Carolina.” The lede for the article by Brett LoGiurato is equally stark:

President Barack Obama is rapidly losing support among African-American voters in North Carolina, a new poll out today from the Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling shows.

These numbers are compared with Obama’s 2008 performance among black voters in the Tar Heel State, and with PPP’s own May numbers, to suggests a real, sudden cataclysm.

Only then do we get this quote from PPP:

Jim Williams, a polling analyst at PPP, said it could be “statistical noise” that comes with a small sample (only about 200 African-Americans were surveyed). But he said it was not something the agency has “ever seen before.”

That’s the understatement of the year.

Why report what is very, very likely an outlier with all the blaring headlines? Why not wait for a single confirmation that Obama is losing significant support from black voters (who according to Gallup currently give the president an 82% positive job rating) anywhere? I think we know why.

Well, in all fairness, they probably could only get the phone numbers for one Anti-gay Black Church.

This has the equivalence of a story saying "Romney doing stunningly bad among Mormon's". It ain't happening.

    "Tar Hell State"

Wow, things have gone downhill since I lived in North Carolina in the late '70s-early '80s. Back then, it was the Tar Heel State, and the Chapel Hill area was "The Southern Part of Heaven."

Tar Hell State??? Seriously??? Hoping that's a typo.

These are the same people that come Nov.7 will insist that Obama is losing the support of the American people because his margin of victory over Romney was smaller than the one he had over McCain.

Business Insider frequently trumpets "Obama Cratering" and the like. The editorial style is sensationalist, to say the least. Yet publisher, Henry Blodget, frequently posts useful and informative pieces like this. Go figure.

Yes, it's a certainty that African Americans who are disappointed in Obama for such things as his endorsement of gay marriage are going to now vote for Mitt Romney. Who belongs to a church that until not too long ago did not allow African Americans to be included among their faithful. A church whose racial policies were so retrograde that Mitt Romney's own dad openly criticized his own church over the issue.

It's summer, and Business Insider needs to flog the page hits and newsstand sales.

Black Americans need to stop drinking the kool-aid from Barack Obama. He is nothing but a politician with criminal instincts. I did not vote for him and hope he is not re-elected!
