June 05, 2012 8:31 AM What Is the Monthly Worth to You?

By Ryan Cooper

In case you weren’t aware, the Washington Monthly is now and always has been a labor of love, not money. We’re a nonprofit, and we keep expenses cut down to the bone. Even so, we rely to a large degree on reader support.

So what’s the Monthly worth to you? Read Editor-in-chief Paul Glastris’s appeal. We’ve long been producing some of the best journalism on policy, government, and politics out there. If you can spare a few bucks, we’d be forever grateful.

Jeez, I'd really love to help.

But with my continued unemployment (and my benefits running out 3+ months ago), and my Father's death 6 weeks ago reducing my Mom's SS income (and mine, since that's all we get) by the $600 a month she used to get, I'm not sure how we'll get the bills paid this month - and next month, and the next one after that, etc.

When, IF, I'm ever flush again, I'll be more than happy to contribute.

    Please accept my apologies.
I love this site, Ed, the guest bloggers, and my fellow commenter's (who keep me in line). :-)

All I can do is wish you the best of luck in your efforts.

As long as you have that pop up ad in the right corner, not a damn dime. Close it and about 2 in 5 times another ad pops up in the middle of the screen. Anyone willing to use such annoying ads does not get anything.

    Free Markets, baby.

You know, I'm still pissed that the Washington Monthly ran a piece last year advocating flogging as a means of criminal punishment in America. I'm still wondering WTF you guys could have been thinking.

I'll resume my contributions to the Monthly after the management repents in sackcloth and ashes for that one.

So, I note within an hour of posting my comment about the REALLY annoying push up ads in the right corner, they discontinue. I figure "Hey, they listened" and send you some money.

    Then today, they are back.

Well, that determines any future donations.
