Kicked around offering everything from Sousa march to Hendrix’s version of the national anthem, but figured Ray Charles’ “America the Beautiful” (as performed in 1972) would be the one choice no one could object to. Have a happy 4th!

The selection of Ray Charles is excellent.

However, as to Kate Smith and "GBA" by Berlin, I would vote NO. Bruce Springsteen with Pete Seeger, accompanied by Seeger's step son, singing proudly, Woody Guthrie's outstanding response to Berlin, "This Land is My Land", with all of the verses would be my request.

Best patriotic song ever is "Power and Glory" by Phil Ochs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZelYGi5ZTPw&feature=fvwrel
